If you are doing shading on most animals you can just erase with the -0_(Soft Eraser)_0-
You may want to erase on the lips forehead nose ear and cheek areas.
First step is to add the colour to the base.
Then, you simply duplicate the layer!
After you have made that step easy, here comes the REALLY easy step.
Click lock alpha, and colour the duplicated layer black, then change the LAYERS opacity to any preferred shading opacity.
Then, take off lock alpha, and remember any place you would like to erase at!
As the areas I recommended you might want to use those for the lighting, and shading.
