Name:Hollow
Gender: Male
Personality:Appears to be very shy at first, but is actually a playful, fun-loving Rune, but when he and I are on a mission/investigation/important work he is very calm and will always be by me.
ShyHe tends to run away from strangers and he was very hard to connect with, so instead of trying to get a hold of him, I sat down about 15-20 feet away from him. I waited for hours, so I closed my eyes and meditated. I suddenly felt something rubbing against my chin, when I looked at him, he screamed and ran away behind a nearby tree. I repeated this process for weeks, and eventually I could pat his head and he would not run away. When I brought one of my friends to see him, he ran and hid for days. I eventually found him again, and I made sure to visit him every day.
Playful and Fun-lovingI remember when I first brought him home he was very still, he did not want to do anything, but when I went to call one of my friends who also has a Rune to see what to feed him, he somehow opened my down feather pillow on the couch in the living room and played in the feathers. When I went over to get him out of the now empty pillow case he had a look of guilt on his face, but I could not stay mad at him.
Calm and FocusedI make it a habit to take him with me when I go out for research (or something) and instead of being playful or shy, he is very calm and focused, when we are examining say... an artifact, he uses his nose or tail to point out details that I missed, he also provides light when my lantern goes out or the light in my tent at the work site dies. My friends are not allowed to bring their Runes to work because they could damage the artifacts, but not my Rune.
Why do you wish to have him?:This Rune has a natural beauty and it reminds me of a ghost story I read when I was a bit younger. I feel draw to this Rune because it is very unique and it has a clever story to go with the species. This Rune allowed me to remember my fascination with ghost stories I had when I was younger, I still own a book that is a collection of ghost stories from the state I live in. Also, this Rune is a perfect match for one of my human OCs that I have yet to use in a RP (Various parts of this form are written from her perspective). I also want this Rune because it reminds me of a strange little thing I like to do, there is an abandoned house a few houses away from where I live and I like to visit it because it gives off a 'lost' essence (and I can eat the black berries). You can see that parts of it are overgrown, and behind the house is a large yard that I like to shoot my bow and arrows at. When I was younger I would call it 'the haunted house' ... and it could be.Where will you keep him?:I am working on a character thread and I will definitely keep him in my sig! I will also do one of the Rune RPGs when I have the time^^Would you like to breed him in the future?:Yes, because there should be more fantastic Runes like him!Any Quirks:If he is scared he likes to hide his face in my neck if he is on my shoulder. He also likes to sleep on my pillow when he thinks I am not looking. He understands English! When we are on an adventure or something and I ask him a yes or no question he will nod in agreement or shake is head for 'no' and if someone says something that he does not like he will 'hiss' at them.Favorite Food:He loves berries. I usually bring various kinds of berries to a dig site because they are easy to carry.

The Bond:("The Bond" is a connection that occurs when a Lantern Rune finds their human companion. The human's soul is what allows the Lantern Rune's lantern the ability to glow.)
The Bonding of the Souls wrote:When a human and a Lantern Rune create a bond between their souls connects them until death. The Rune cannot be in possession of any other human after The Bond is completed.
Hollow and I have created a 'command' of sorts, when I say "Blacklight" we use The Bond to see things that humans and Runes cannot see on their own. It allows us to see hidden secrets or paranormal anomalies at an excavation site for example. The only problem is that using The Bond causes my soul to become temporarily weak, so I have to be very careful.
Other:I am working on art and a story!
Lantern Rune Information wrote:Lantern Runes are a very rare type of Rune that only come out in the days approaching All Hallow's Eve, when the dead come back to haunt the night. Lantern Runes are said to guide such spirits on their journey back to the World of the Living, and have often been viewed as harbingers of strong paranormal activity.
The Lantern And The Child
By ElementStar
The Lantern Rune walked over to a group of graves that harbored spirits that have yet to be returned to this Land of the Living. He has been busy leading spirits to this world, but he enjoyed it. It was something that only he could do. He saw a headstone with it's letters worn away. He walked over to it and examined the letters. He could make out the name, it was a girl's name, the year of birth was --89, the first two numbers were not legible, but the year of death was chipped away. He decided to bring this soul to the Land of the Living. When the spirit appeared, it was a little girl around the age of 6. The Lantern Rune was not very fond of guiding children because they never knew where to go. He had already brought her here to this world, so he might as well take her to her desired location.
"Where am I? Why am I here? Where is my mother?" The child's spirit wailed.
The Rune cringed at the noise. "Calm down, where do you want to go? I can lead you there."
"I want my mother! Where is my mother?" The spirit knelt down and cried.
"Where did you live? I can help you find your mother." The Rune replied calmly.
The spirit pointed towards her home. The two of them walked in that direction until the spirit said they where at her home. The Rune tapped the door and he and the spirit hid. Then a woman appeared in the doorway.
"Is she your mother?" the Rune asked.
The spirit started to cry, "No! Where is my mother?"
The Rune asked the spirit when she was born. The spirit replied "I was born in 1889."
The Rune was expecting something like that, "Listen, it has been over a hundred years, you mother died."
Before the spirit can cry again he adds "But if you return to the spirit world you can be with her forever, isn't that good?" The spirit nods. The Lantern Rune takes the spirit back to the grave, "Here is were we say goodbye. Your mother is expecting you." He says smiling.
"Bye bye!" The spirit calls as she disappears.
