"Of Spots and Snow"

"One day, I was reading a fantasy novel to Phaedrus, who with his young adult feathering coming in was grounded - literally. It was like growing pains and I was doing my best to keep the poor Rune distracted when he saw the beautiful inked drawing of the mountain range that the story's hero was busy climbing. He had never thought about the concept of snow before and in my quest to keep his mind off his pin-feathers, I decided to take him on a field trip to the nearest snow-capped mountains.
It was a long train ride to the town of Whitetree Cove in the foothills of the Icen Peaks mountain range, but Phaedrus was in love with the log buildings, with wood fires burning in their stoves, and how even the trees had a little bit of clinging frost from the crisp morning air. The local tourist center advised us to use a well-traveled path up into the mountains and told us not to go too far, since the weather was fairly unpredictable still at this time of year and snowstorms howled over the peaks with very little warning. Phaedrus was bundled up warmly in my hood when we left, but little did I know how we would barely make it back to town. In fact, we wouldn't have, if it weren't for that one Rune...

The afternoon was cool and the higher I walked, the more my breath showed. Phaedrus was beside himself with joy when he saw his first pile of snow. You would have laughed to see what he did: forgetting that he hadn't all of his wing feathers back in yet, he launched himself from my shoulder, fully expecting to glide to a small rock in the center of the snow - alas, he flopped like a wet rag into the cold, white drift and was quite adamant that he needed to be saved. After pulling him from the snow, I brushed him off and giggled. I had to promise that I wouldn't tell the other Runes. While I was drying him off, a cloud covered the sun and as I turned, I was shocked to see a huge black storm whirling up over us. I stuffed Phaedrus in my hood once more and took off at a jog, but you can't outrun that kind of weather. Before I knew it, snow was swirling around us and the wind was howling like a freight train. I wasn't going to admit that I was lost until I realized that I had passed that one trail sign more than once. As I was beginning to despair, my hands stuffed in my armpits and my teeth clattering, something cried out over the wind. Turning, I saw a Rune the size of a St. Bernard sitting atop a rock, looking quite comfortable despite the freezing weather. It was feline in body, with the roundest ears and longest fluffy tail I had seen yet on a Rune - fluffier than Phaedrus! I was rather intimidated by its claws, but the Rune just flew past me against the wind, looking back over its shoulder. It took Phaedrus to convince me to follow it and thank goodness it was a benevolent wild Rune. It led us straight to the edge of town, where I could see the gas lights glowing in the haze of the fallen snow. I turned to thank it, but it had vanished. I'm not going to lie, my voice had too at that point; my teeth were chattering so hard that I could barely explain to the innkeeper how we made it back. Phaedrus doesn't really like snow that much anymore...

Anyways, this Rune is amazingly beautiful in every way: pelt, heart, and soul. I never saw a Bearer nearby, so maybe someone else who wanders up into the mountains can befriend it?"

Talvi, It means winter in Finnish. I have used this name for a Rune before, but I did not win the contest, so I decided to use it for Sundara's bearer. Art of Talvi is coming soon!

She Is...

Smart
Sundara is the most intelligent Rune I've ever seen! She knows how to write in 5 different human languages, and she knows how to understand them. It is through this method, that I have learned to pick her brain, and find out about her horrific past.

Logical
Living in the mountains, you have to have this trait to survive. You can't be frivolous and dreamy, otherwise...well, you die. You have to think of the cold, hard truth, that there might not be a tomorrow when you live in such a harsh environment.

Serious
When Sundara says something, she is not joking around.This makes sort of boring to be around, but also makes her a great leader.

Protective
She is protective over what she loves and holds dear to her heart. She would rather die protecting something she believed in or something that she loved, rather that living while watching something she loved die.

Loyal
It is rare when Sundara decides to love someone or something. But when she does, she is loyal to it to the very end. She never thinks twice about abandoning a friend, she will stick with you till the very end.

Brave
Again, you have to have this quality when living in any wilderness area. You have to be able to fight off dangers, and try new things, no matter how big or small they are. Sundara does this perfectly. You don't even have to ask her if she wants to do something, she will automatically say yes. She is willing to try everything in the modern world, because it is such a big contrast from her secluded mountain life.

Active at night
Because she was living in the mountains for so long, Sundara was exposed to little sunlight. Because of this, her eyes are not used to bright light, and therefore sting when exposed to sunlight. It is for tis reason, that she is completely nocturnal, which means that she does not spend any time awake in the day at all. This is the same with her bearer, Talvi. This also annoys Daydream, because it is distracting when you are trying to help people all around Eldamore try to go to sleep, when you have two very jumpy beings following you everywhere!

Hunting
Living in the wilderness for so long has gifted Sundara with keen hunting abilities. She is able to work a variety of man-made weapons, while having some natural ones built into her as well. She has keen hearing and night vision, allowing her to hunt in pitch-black darkness. She also has knife-sharp teeth and claws, allowing her to take down Eidulon, the huge cattle-like animals that she and Talvi depended on for survival in the mountains.

Dominant
You have to be careful around Sundara. She is very dominant around people and Runes, and thinks the entire world of Eldamore should revolve around her. If she doesn't get her way...watch out!

Like all Runes, Sundara has some fears. I'm not sure if I've discovered them all, but here are the ones that I know of:
Spiders, the color red, cardboard, ravens, fortune cookies, and mirrors.

Why do you wish to have him/her:[/b]

The minute I saw this amazing Rune, I almost fainted. The beautiful blues, and the nose, oh that nose! Everything about her just screamed 'me'. It was almost as if she came out of my computer screen, and motivated me to give my best entry yet.

Where will you keep him/her:

I have recently developed a pattern for a plushie that could sit on my shoulder. She will be made into a plushie, have writings dedicated to her, have songs made after, bundles of art, and of course will have a permanent spot in my siggy. She will be, and will always be, my little baby.

Would you like to breed him/her in the future:

Oh god yes! She will have several cute little cat-themed babies that will be to die for!

Any Quirks:

Sundara seems to have a certain fascination with a piece of parchment with cryptic writing on it. Every time I ask her what it is, she screams at me, then flies away. When she is sleeping one day, I need to take it and get it translated by someone. She hoards anything silver in color. When I ask her why, she just writes down, "It's for the Laikata". I don't know what she means by this,but I'm starting to get a little worried about it, because she hasn't left her silver pile in days. She fidgets with her tail when she is scared or nervous, which is funny, because sheinsists she has no fear. She also has a habit of pulling peoples hair. The little booger almost pulled out all of mine last Tuesday while she was on a pranking streak. Ah, Sundara...

What does Sundara think of this?

Fire & Ice

The snow was falling heavily on the high mountain peak. Inside a rocky crevice, A large Rune that seemed to be covered in snow and ice, watch three cracking, shaking eggs rock back and fourth on the den floor.Three little cracks echoed around den, as three fluffy chicks emerged from their eggs. Two looked like their mother, covered in thick fuzz and ice and snow. But the third was so different, it seemed unnatural. The third one bore the markings of a terrian snow leopard, and had big ears, wide eyes, a pink nose, and a long, bushy tail. The mother scoffed at it, then started crooning over her two look-alikes. But this moment was soon interrupted by a loud screaming coming from outside. "Reapers! And they have fire!" All of the residents of the dens on this side of the mountain starred in terror as dozens of reaper Runes carrying torches flew closer and closer to the mountain. As they got closer, the Runes of the mountain tried hard to break the trance they were in, but it was no use. They were too horrified to move. once the reapers got close enough, their immense size was very apparent. They towered over the mountain Runes by many yards, and had deadly weapons all across their body. As soon as they touched the rocks, they began their duty of slaughtering the Runes. The little leopard Rune was smart enough to go and hide while the chaos erupted. She found a small cavern to duck in, and a peephole for her to look out of. She saw her mother defending her two siblings from the reapers, and was filled with anger. She didn't seem to even care that one of her precious offspring was missing, and probably dead! How dare she! Suddenly, she felt a new emotion control her, something that felt good, but she didn't know was right. Revenge. Loathing. Greed. Suddenly, she didn't care how many innocent Runes were getting killed out there. In fact, she wanted to help the reaper Runes, not her own kind. They cast her aside, and now they were going to pay. She swooped in on her mother, and surprised the reaper Rune with a blow to her eye. She then bit down on her face, and started clawing it franticly. The reaper had backed away to see how this was going to play out. The hatchling let go of her mother, and fluttered upward. Just as her mother caught her breath, the hatchling swooped in for the killing blow. The mother staggered backwards, and toppled off of a cliff. The reaper starred at the hatchling, trying to decide whether or not to kill it. The reaper finally spoke. "well done, young one. But if I may ask, why did you do it? Your own kind was being slaughtered, and instead of defending it, you helped bring it to it's demise?"
"They cast me aside, because I didn't look like them. I wanted to make them pay. Now, since I have no home anymore, could I just travel with you? I think it would be fun!" The reaper beckoned to some of his companions, and they deliberated in a strange robot language.
"I'm sorry child, but you can't."
"But why not! I am filled with anger and vengeance, I bet I could become a lean, mean, killing-machine!'
"Yes, but you will not always be filled with anger and vengeance. You are alive and have emotions, while we do not. We don't feel sorry when we kill innocent Runes, while you will. We can look into the eyes of the dying, and not feel sorry. Your Runic emotions would soon overcome your anger, and make you feel terrible about what you did. Our anger lasts forever. It is programed into us. Goodbye child." And with that abrupt ending, the reapers flew off into the darkness. And even though the hatchling was surrounded by the coldest of snow, she could have never have been filled with more anger and fire.

The Naming

The wind blew hard on top of a mountain. A teenage Rune was wandering around aimlessly in the thick, white wind, mumbling to herself as she padded along, her emerging flight feathers causing her immense pain that she could not control. "I'll show them," She said. "I'll show all of them! They should have never turned me away, they will feel sorry. I'll be the most powerful Rune in the world!" She paused for a moment, while a half-frozen tear ran down her cheek. "Oh what's the use...no one will ever love me!" She collapsed in the snow, and started sobbing. After a while, she fell asleep, and when she awoke, she woke in a cave filled with lit candles. She staggered to her feet, and saw she was surrounded by Runes that had the same features that she had. They bore the markings of Terrian cats, had big ears, wide eyes, pink noses, and long bushy tails. The largest one that had a lions mane, stepped forward.
"Welcome, Young' n. You are inside the headquarters of the Felixian, or the society of outcasts. My name is Leos, and this are my friends, Tiggris, Amra, Oci, Pardanna, and Queenie." The Rune motioned to Runes dressed in formal robes. "And here are all the members of our society." The Rune motioned to the darkness, which was suddenly lit up by the eyes of hundreds of faces.
"I found you out in the snow. Hi, my name is Felix." Her eyes came to rest on a mottled brown tabby cat Rune who had deep green eyes. There seemed to be a twinkle in them, as Felix gave her a reassuring wink. Lovestruck by the tabby Rune, she barley noticed when Leos stopped talking, and was replaced by the soft, smooth voice on Amra, the female cheetah Rune.
"Now, on to the business at hand. We've needed a few extra pairs of claws around here, and were wondering if you would like to join us." The little Rune starred wide-eyed at the cheetah Rune, as if she couldn't believe what she was saying. "What, do you already have a home? Because we would be more than happy to escort you to it, you know, with that gang or reapers lurking in the shadows."
"No, no, I do not have a home. This is just so sudden, my last home was attacked by reapers a few weeks ago."
"Oh, you poor thing!" It was Queenie who spoke this time. She was a plump, old Rune, who resembled a persian cat. "We need to let her stay! Oh, sugar! Do you need anything? Water, food, a blanket?"
"Actually, I haven't eaten in days, so could I please have something to eat?" Queenie started to rush off, when Tiggris grabbed her by the scruff of her neck.
"We need to decide now. We can't have you mooching off of us if you aren't one of us. So, do you want to stay?" The was a pause of silence, as everyone starred at the young Rune.
"Fine, I'll stay."
"Alright, now that we have that out of the way, we need to name you. Do you already have a name?"
"Nope."
"OK. Felix, you found her, you get to name her." Felix stepped up on to the rock where the young Rune and the leaders were standing.
"I, Felix of Felixian, dub thee Sundara, because you are as beautiful as the stars in the night sky."
"Alright, now, can I get her some food before she starves to death!"

Return of the Reapers

It was a warm, spring day, which is rare in the mountains. All the little hatchlings were running around in the thick snow drifts outside the caves of Felixian. They all bore the features of a terrian cat, which kept them in the Felixian society of outcasts.
"Ah, look at her Felix. Isn't she beautiful?"
"Yes, yes she is." They were eying a little gray hatchling rolling around with a calico hatchling. The gray one's name was Kora, and she was Sundara and Felix's daughter. She was a gray terrian cat Rune, who had white tinged on her paws and muzzle.
"Ha! Pinned ya!" She had pinned the little calico Rune to the rocky floor.
"What's that?" The calico Rune was pointing to the sky.
"Oh, come on! I know you're just trying to fool me. I'm not taking my claws off of you for a second!"
"No, seriously, what's that!?!" This time, Kora did look to where the calico Rune was pointing, and let out a screech of terror. Reaper runes were flying in, and seemed to be targeting the Felixian society! "Reapers, run!" Kora yelled, as everyone started fleeing into the cave. The reapers were fast, but the Felixians were faster. They rushed into the cave, and covered up the entrance with a huge boulder.
"Open up! We know you're in there!" The reapers shouted from the outside. A large bang! broke the eerie silence, and the boulder shattered. The reapers swooped in, and started killing. Sundara found a nice quiet hiding spot, like she did the last time reapers attacked her home. She watched in silent horror at one of the reapers slaughtered all of the leaders, Leos, Tiggris, Amra, Oci, Pardanna, and Queenie. She starred at their horror-struck faces, that were frozen for eternity. She would never hear Leos's hearty chuckle, see Amra's sparkling eyes, feel Queenie's hospitality, listen to Pardanna's smooth lulling voice, make Ori honey bee tea (which was his favorite), or hear Tiggris's stern instructions ever again. She was filled with sorrow, when a familiar voice came from another corner.
"Sundara, help me!" It was Felix! He was cornered by two reapers, and they were closing in on him. Sundara started to get up, but she felt weak. How am I supposed to save him? The reapers are twice the size of me! Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice. Do not be afraid. We will help you. No, it couldn't be. It sounded just like Leos, but he was dead.
"Leos...is that you?" No, it is not just me. It is all of us. Amra, Tiggris, Pardanna, Ori, and Queenie. We will help you. Trust us. When the voices faded away, Sundara felt a new strength inside her, As if all the leaders had gone inside her. She lept to her feet, and started flying toward the reapers. As she was flying, she could feel the strength of Leos, the discipline of Tiggris, the speed of Amra, the slyness of Pardanna, the intelligence of Ori, and the hunger for justice of Queenie coursing through her veins. She prepared her claws to fight, and sunk them into the reaper's back. It made a loud screaming noise, and collapsed. All the other reapers looked up, and saw their deceased friend. "Get outta here! Unless you wanna deal with me!" The reapers didn't hesitate to fly out of the cave quickly and fearfully. "Thank the spirit that's over. Felix are you Ok?" No answer came. "Felix? Felix!?!" Again, an eerie silence. Suddenly, she heard a quiet moaning coming from behind a rock. Sundara crept over to the rock, and saw Felix's unmoving body, and realized she had been too late.
"I... I tried to save her... but it was no use. Good...goodbye Sundara, my beautiful star." After his last sentence, Felix's body went limp and cold.
"Wait, what do you mean! Felix! Felix, don't die on me! Felix!" But she knew he was gone. She buried her head into his chest, and started sobbing. Then, another important thought crossed her mind. "Wait, WHERE'S KORA!!" Nerves shaken and voice stricken with panic, she started wandering around the cave, calling out softly Kora's name. As she wandered, she realized she was completely alone. "They've slaughtered everyone." She whispered to herself. A scream of pain woke her from her trance, and she ran over to the rock where it came from. She turned over the rock, and saw Kora's frail and broken body under it. "Kora, No!"
"Mama..." She whispered, while she was panting her last breaths of air. "I'll miss you mama..." Then, Kora's body went cold.
"Kora, Kora wake up! Kora! Not you too. Great spirit, why her! Why her!" Sundara cried out in agony, as she lifted Kora's little body from the ground. She cradled it, and rocked it back and fourth. "Even though you are with the stars now, you will always be my little girl." Sundara started to sing a lullaby, as the sun set. When the moon had risen to it's full height, she finally emerged from the cave, holding Kora's body, she noticed there were two new stars up in the night sky. "Fly safely you two. Fly safely..."

Crying in the Snow

"Oh, what am I to do with myself!" Sundara exclaimed. "I've lost two homes in one year, and surely those reapers will find me again. Maybe I should just go hiatus for a while, monk-style." When she looked up, she realized she was on a whole other side of the mountain. What used to be white, fluffy snow drifts covered by rays of sunlight was now sharp jagged rocks and mud stained snow, with dark gray clouds looming above. "Where am I?" She said, and started looking around. Suddenly, she heard a strange sound, and saw a large animal thundering toward her. She dogged it's hooves just in time, and watched it . Her stomach growled hungrily, and decided she needed food. She watched the cattle-like animal grazing on some lichen, and decided to try and kill it. She got down on her haunches, and started creeping toward the animal. When she was close enough, She leapt forward, and bit into the animal's leg. It made a strange noise, and started thundering forward again. Sundara bit down harder, and started to scratch the animal's thigh. It started slowing down from loss of blood, and finally collapsed. Sundara devoured the animal quickly, and licked the bones clean. Suddenly, she heard a crying noise in the distance. She thought it was just a lost baby Rune looking for its mother, so she disregarded it. But, it sounded...different. Having the curious mind that she has, Sundara decided to go investigate. She fluttered around several rock spires, but found nothing. Then, after a long and tired search, She found a little baby wrapped up in several pieces of animal hide. She starred at it curiously, as it made little whimpering noises. It opened up it eyes, and Sundara saw an amazing sight. "Oh Great Spirit, you've sent her down!" In the little creature's eyes, she saw the expression of Kora's wandering gaze, her laughter, and her tears in the creatures sapphire blue eyes. She starred in awe as the creature starred at her. What should I do with it? She thought. I barely have enough food to provide for my own, much less a creature! I'll just leave it. As Sundara was walking away, she heard a voice so familiar, it almost made her cry. Don't leave me again, Mama. I miss you. She turned around, and ran back to the creature. She embraced it with open wings, and started kissing it. "I miss you too, Kora." the creature had stopped crying, and rested it's head against Sundara's shoulder, and fell asleep. "Now, what should I call you?" Her immediate thought was Kora, but it was too sad. She couldn't be breaking down every time she said the creature's name. "I know!" She exclaimed. "I'll call you Talvi. Yes, Talvi. i like the sound of that." She picked the creature up by the thick animal hide, and soared into the sky, hoping for a new beginning.

The Explorers

It all started as a normal day. Talvi woke up, and did some laundry, while Sundara woke up, and started preparing weapons. "I know something big is going to happen today Sundara. I can feel it in my bones." Talvi commented as she was slipping on her skirt. They packed up the tent in a bag made of Eidulon hide, and set off. As they were hiking through the thick snow and slippery rock, Talvi's foot fell out from under her, and she started falling. Sundara swooped off the rock to catch her, when a stunning realization hit her. They were back on the same side of the mountain that she grew up on! But wait- the reapers! They probably still lived here, and wanted to get revenge on what Sundara did to them. Talvi fell into a fluffy snowdrift, and Sundara gracefully landed beside her. As soon as Talvi resurfaced, Sundara started pulling on her skirt, urging her to leave. "What's the rush Sundara? This place is a lot cheerier that anything we've seen before." Yeah, that's what you think. Sundara thought, as her horrific memories from her past resurfaced to her mind. Her stomach started twisting, when they heard a voice.
"Hello, is anyone up there? Hello!" Sundara quickly got into a defensive position around talvi, preparing herself for yet another gang of reapers. "Hello!" They could see a human about the age of Talvi climbing up the mountain, accompanied by her Rune.
"We've gotta help them!" Talvi exclaimed, as she raced down the hill to the steep drop-off where the human and Rune were climbing. Stupid Talvi. Sundara thought. She needs to learn not to trust everybody. She's going to get herself killed one of these days. talvi resurfaced with the two explorers. The human was a tall, thin, twelve-year old girl, with midnight blue hair and pale skin. She had sparkling blue eyes, and her hair had dawn-colored streaks and feathers in it. Her cheeks had mist-colored swirls on them, and a thin layer of mist seemed to be coming off of her hair.
"Hello, I am Quies, and this is my Rune, Daydream." Quies pointed at her half-asleep Rune, who was wearing a night cap and had the same colors a Quies. She woke up, let out a drowsy chirp, then nuzzled back into Quies's shoulder. "Yeah, she's a fluffy sleepy Rune, so she's kinda sleepy. Anyway, who are you, and why do you live up here?"
"I'm Talvi, and this is my Rune, Sundara. We've lived up here since I was a baby."
"Wow! That's a long time! Say, do you want to come down the mountain and live with us? I think we've got an extra bedroom in our cottage." Talvi pondered this idea for a while, then said, "I don't know yet. I've grown so used to the mountains.
"Ok. We'll come back soon, then see what you think. C'mon Daydream, let's go before we encounter those rumored reapers."
"What are reapers?" Talvi asked, as Sundara nervously played for her tail.
"Halt!" A booming voice came from behind them. They slowly turned around, bracing themselves for what was going to happen.
"That's a reaper!" Quies said. Behind them were two reapers, armed and ready for a battle. Sundara took a protective position around Talvi, and let out a loud, menacing hiss.
"You again! I thought you would be dead by now!" One of the reapers said. Clearly he had remembered what had happened at the Felixian society. Right as he started to swoop at Talvi, Sundara took to the sky to battle it out with the reaper. She motioned her wing away from her, to tell the others to run. They clearly got the memo, and started running. Sundara sunk her claws into the reaper's chest, making it fall from the sky. But there was still one reaper left, and it was heading for the others. Sundara couldn't catch up to it now, but she had an idea. She saw a large boulder, and maybe if she started rolling it down the mountain, it would crash into the reaper. There was only one way to find out. She dislodged the boulder from the snow, and gave it a mighty push. It started rolling, slowly at firs, but then it picked up speed.She started flying toward the others to try to warn them. She whispered the warning to Daydream, who passed it on to Talvi and Quies. They turned around to see the reaper flying toward them, and a huge boulder behind it. Once the boulder got close enough to the reaper, they all jumped to the side, and the boulder flattened the reaper. From their viewpoint, they could see a field filled with several small cottages, and beyond that was the skyline of the Alabaster City. "Yeah, we should probably get out of the mountains." Talvi said, knowing that more reapers would find them if they stayed. So, they started the trek down the mountain, knowing that this would be the last they would see of the only home they knew, and braced themselves for their biggest challenge yet_adapting to modern life. A new life. A better life.

Epilogue

Sundara and Talvi adapted to modern life well. They are still trying to understand electronics and running water, though. They both love rides in any motor vehicle, and are fascinated with typing. Even as I am typing, their eyes are glued to my hands as I type away, bringing you this update. talvi and I have formed a team, and decided to co-own our Runes, but she still has a special connection to Sundara. I hope that one day, they will end up being entirely used to modern life, as I am tired of them asking questions about things 24/7

It was a cold,dark day.The snow came down over Neoark's head. 'Help!Im drowning!!' Amxen ran over to help Neo.He sneezed and shivered.Amxen filled a boal with hot water and put Neoark in it. "There you go.All better?" Neo swam around. 'Yes,I feel sick.' Neoark sneezed again.Amxen was adout to say something when a song started playing.She had herd it before,Chirstmas Lights. "Rin,can you turn down your music?!" Rin ran downstairs. "Thats not me,and its not Nova..." Amxen ran outside and saw something she had never saw before.Snow Leopard Runes,all together,singing in purfect harmony.Neoark was shocked,and of course,he had to have this power all to himself.He charged up his Siphon Ray. "Neo,no!" To late.He caught a Rune and siphoned away its power.The pore Snow Leopard Rune just stayed there in the snow,moitionless.All the other Runes had ran away in fear.Amxen ran over to aid the Rune that Neo and siphoned. "Oh,you pore thing..." She picked up the Rune.It bit her finger. 'Put me down!' It was a female Rune.She thrashed around,trying to squrm out of Amxen's hands. "No,Im not putting you down." Amxen held her bloody finger and ran inside.She put the Rune down and went to wash her wound.The Rune went up to Neoark. 'I want my singing voise back!' Neoark hissed. 'No way!Whats your name?' Amxen listened to Yuki sing.She had the most pretty voise that Amxen had ever herd. "Oh Yuki,for a Rune your a wounderful singer." Yuki looked up. 'Thanks Amxen!Hey,where is Neoark?' "I dont know-" Neoark came crashing through the window.He stumbeled around. 'Im okay!Im alright!' Yuki ran over to Neo. 'Oh,my pore sweet-heart!' 'Ugh,stop it Yuki.' Amxen walked over to the Runes. "Awww,does Yuki have a crush on Neoark?" She patted Yuki's head. 'What,no I dont!' 'Oh dont hide it Yuki!' Yuki jumped at Neo.Amxen ran over to stop the fight. "Hey,hey!You dont need to fight about it!" She held the two Runes by their tails.They snapped at eachother. 'You like me!' 'No I dont!' 'Yes you do Neo!' "Alright,thats it!Im going to lock you guys in two separet rooms.If you guys arent sighing and yelling to eachother by the end of the day,your not in love." She put Yuki in her room,and she put Neoark in Nova's room.After a few hours,Yuki had started crying. 'Oh,I miss him!' Neo was scratching the wall. 'Yuki!Yuki Im sorry!You left paw-prints on my soul!!' Amxen herd them yelling upstairs. "I better let them out..." She ran upstairs and opened the doors.Yuki and Neoark ran to eachother. 'Im sorry Yuki!' 'I know,and I forgive you Neoark!' Latter that day,Yuki was singing a song she wrote.It was called Paw-Prints On My Soul.

The Cold Whistle:
Yuki listened to the wind howling through the trees.Someone had come to Amxen's home before,warning them about a snowstorm coming their way.Amxen had told EVERYONE in the house to stay away from the windows.Including all of the...umm...'pets' she had adopted over the years,Nova,Rin,Neoark and Yuki.It was crouded in the room where everyone sat.Yuki had no choise but to sit next to the window. "Yuki,what did I say?" Amxen walked over and picked up the Rune. 'Awww,come on!I dont wanna sit next to Twilight,or Demyx,or Dreamdrop,or- Amxen whistled and Neoark landed on her shoulder. "Neoark,why dont you show smart aleck Yuki here how strong wind is?" Neo smiled. 'With plesure,Amxen. He grabbed Yuki. 'Come on,lets see how well you fly.' Neoark flew out the door into the howling,freezing cold wind.He held on to Yuki as tight as he could. 'Are you nuts Neo?!How strong is this wind?!' Neo smilied and let go of Yuki.She screamed as the wind blew her away.Neo landed on a tree and held on for his life.He looked back and saw Yuki flying againt the wind.Her wings made a soft,cool whistle in the wind.She gluided against the wild winds,the snow beat against her face. 'Come on Yuki!Come sit next to me on the branch! Neo yelled to her as she inched closer. 'Yeah,Im trying!!' Yuki flapped her wings rapidly.She finaly got to the branch and sat next to Neo.Yuki whistled the tune her wings made as she flew.Then she started singing,and Neo joined her.They sat outside till the storm passed.They sang songs and whistled tunes.Yuki and Neoark called the tune they whistled The Cold Whistle.

I find it hard to beleave that a human,by the name of Amxen,helped me.That wretched devil Neoark almost killed me,but yet,I find myself thinking about him all the time.It seems as if I have met him before,even though Im sure we have never met.Still,I am very lonely.Do you want to hear my forgoten past?

'Yuki,dinner!' Yuki flew into her home,a burrow at the base of a snow covered pine tree. 'Yes Mama,what are we eating?' Yuki's mother dropped a Snow-shoe Rabbit infront of her.Yuki made a weird face. Yuki Sora!Dont look at your food,eat it.' Yuki's mother shoke her head.Yuki started eating her dinner,but a loud noise made her stop. 'Mama,what was that?' Yuki's mother arked her back and yet out a hiss. 'It smells bad,mabey a lightning stike?' Her mother ran outside.The sight was horrable.A very large,blood covered,male Snow Leopard Rune stood there.Yuki looked from behide her mother.The male Rune saw her,licked his lips,and attacked. 'Yuki run!' Her mother pushed her as she told her to run.The male Rune jumped at Yuki,but her mother attacked him. 'Get away from her!!Yuki,go now! Yuki turned and ran.She didnt look back,she just ran.When she stopped,she had no idea where she was. 'Oh,umm...hello.' The voise frightend Yuki. 'Who's there?' Yuki looked around.She saw a Rune stuck to a tree,a male Rune.His bladed wings had gotten tangeled in the thick branches of an Oak Tree. 'As you can see,Im kinda stuck.Would you mind helping me?' Yuki looked shocked. Arent you going to attack me?' 'Oh,now why would I do that.' 'Well,you are well equiped with weapons-' 'Yes,but why would I hurt a female.Whats your name anyway?' The male Rune strugeled to get out of the tree. 'Im Yuki Sora,but call me Yuki.' Yuki flapped her wings are helped the Rune out of the tree. 'Thank you...uhh...Yuki.Im Neoark,but call me Neo.' Yuki and Neo shook feet. 'Neo,can you help me?My mother was attacked and I need help finding her. Neo looked at her with saddess. Where you from,Whitetree Cove or Icen Peaks?' 'Im from Whitetree Cove.' 'Oh okay,follow me.' Neo and Yuki flew through the forest.Yuki looked around till she spoted blood. 'There,down there!' They landed and Yuki surched the blood covered snow for her mom. 'Mommy,mommy? Neo looked down and saw the bones of a Rune. Yuki!Come see this.' Yuki ran over to Neo.The bones on the ground were her mother's. 'Mom,no...'

I havent thought about that much,but now that I see Neo again,all my memories are coming back.My mother's bones,the blood covered Rune that killed her...everything!Neo is so kind though.He helps me remember all the good times I had as a kid,and forget the memories that cause the hurt.

Snowball Fight:
'Im gonna get you! 'No your not!' Yuki tossed the snowball at Neoark.He let out a yelp. 'Why do you put rocks in snowballs Yuki?' Yuki smilies. 'Cause' I want it to hurt chu.' Neoark made a weird face.Amxen whisteled. "Come on you guys!We gotta go into town." 'All right,we are coming!' Said Yuki and Neoark together.Yuki quikly tossed another snowball Neoark. 'So,what are we buying?' Neoark said as he walking in,shaking the snow of his face. "We are buying food for you two." Amxen pointed to Neoark and Yuki. "Now come on,I dont want the streets to be crouded." Amxen ran out the door and the Runes flew after her.As they walked into town,Amxen saw Rune bearers she knew.She quickly put up her hood so no one would see her.Neo quickly hid in Amxen's pocket. [i]'Why you have your hood up?'{/i} Yuki whispered. Amxen looked at her. "Rune bearers..." Yuki smiled.She made a snowball and tossed in at one of the people on the street.It hit him in the arm.He let out a yelp of pain,closed his book and made a snowball.Amxen looked at Yuki. "Whats your problem?" Yuki smiled and watched the other Rune bearer toss the snowball at Amxen.It hit the back of her neck.She sighed,removed her hood and yelled. "Snowball fight!!" The other Rune bearers and their Runes quickly made snowballs and started a huge snowball fight.It was very fun until Yuki thought it would be fun to make a large,rock filled snowball and toss it at someone.Lucky for Amxen it didnt hit someone.After that,everyone left and Amxen did what she went into town to do in the first place.Buy food for her spoiled Runes.

Oh,and if Im right,Yuki's theme song is Chirstmas Lights by Coldplay.Listen to it,its sooo pretty.

Manteña de runas is galician for ' Keep of runes'. I thought this suited because she is the bearer of runes.

Xeado.
Galician meaning 'frosty', which obviously suits Snow Leopards.
However Mantena tends to call him 'gatinho bonito' which means cute kitten. He hates this name.

Gender:
Male. I see and respect other opinions of female but I see this guy as a soft, gentle, male.

Personality:
Xeado is generally soft natured and full of love. Thus easily mistaken as female. Xeado doesnt mind being called female, but doesnt perferr it as well. Being more of a relaxed an gentle rune, he likes to go on small swoops over mountains with his bearer, instead of plunging into danger like most dare-devilish runes do. This rune tends to cower to fights, unless he is forced into a battle. Despite his lazy and calm appearance, Xeado is deadly. His heavily furred wings cut razor-sharp and usually leave mortal wounds. Unlike most runes, Xeado does not jitter and flip-out when an ancient is in presence. It scares him, but he does not want his bearer to think of him as weak and cowardly. Despite Xeado's confident behaviour, he has low self esteem and while he is strong on the outside her wilts in the inside as the simplest insults. He loves Tea.

Why do you wish to have him/her:
I have been trying for lots of lots of runes. I wouldnt of tried for this cutie, but my friend ~Willow talked me into it. I wont be suprised if i lose, I am used to losing and im sure you wont find me complaining. I disenjoy losing something i love ( as i have fallen in love with this runie) but i respect other's happiness and guilt tripping is mean. I hope to have him because i adore cats. I adore leopards. I adore everything about him. I personally prefer this wing style and the tail is wickedly cute. So is the expression.
I remember trying for a wolf rune and a african dog rune and this reminds me of them, and if i won him it'd be like having a piece of them clumped together in the most perfect rune possible.
I am sorry if this is offensive to the owners of the wild dog and wolf rune, as for i can understand. I also apologise to maluruloki for this section ebing suprisingly long.

Story:
My horse's hoof crunched the snow as I trekked, tracking the winter helper rune. I had been following its path quite certainly, until footsteps melded into the runes path. It was already 'taken' by another bearer. As I began to turn my horse back to the village, A calm noise filled the air. A..mewling..? Runes dont mewl, but I took the chance and kicked my horse. About 30 feet infront of my horses's foot was a rune. Perfectly formed- beautiful, really, but yet it was abandoned. I picked the sweet heart up and set him into my saddle bag, as for he wasnt too big. But his sharp wing edges cut the saddlebag! I watched as my food, water, and the litte rune himself tumble out of the bag. The rune's tail floated out like a plume as he attempted to fly, falling innocently to the ground. I laughed! I couldnt help it. " You cute little bugger! gatinho bonito'!" I laughed. At the 'gatinho bonito' , the adorable little sweetheart puffed up and did what was supposed to be a hiss. I picked him up after I dismounted my horse. "Xeado" I said softly. " Yes, that'll be your name frosty little warrior" I picked up my horses lead and walked towards my village.

Smokey is a young funny rune who likes to help people and other runes. She loves to make others smile and have fun if your not having a good day she will make it shine! She loves to play in the snow though and thinks everyone else does to! But if she thinks your cold she will sit by you and wrap her tail around you to warm you up then go back and play she sometimes for gets that her claws are sharp and will hurt people with them when shes playing but she always feels bad at the end if she hurts you and will try to make you feel better.

I think because she reminds me a lot of my cat Smokey who has past.. Anyways you see how I thought Smokey would be a good name and maybe because i can see the danger in her but the calm in her to.

I was watching a show on tv with Grass, Spade, adn my boyfriend Rick. It was about Rune dragons that lived in the mountains it seemed fun so I asked if anyone wanted to go there and see if we could find one! They thought and nodded so we started to pack. I got warm clothes and two scurfs for Grass, and Spade to help keep them warm. We soon made it there with no help from Spade who wanted to looked at everything and wouldn't stay in a sit! Of course it was a fun ride and it was amazing when we first saw the Icen Peaks mountain range it was beatuiful. We stood there a couple mintues before going into a motel just looking at it and enjoying it. After that couple mintues we went inside got two rooms and got ready for bed.


In the morning we got up early and started to hick up the mountain soon Spade wanted to check something out (I still don't know what it was to this day.) and before I could grab him he was chasing it so we all ran after him me being faster then Rick and Grass soon lost them in the woods on the mountian. I found Spade on a rock scared and looking at something that I couldn't tell what. I went to him then turned and thats when I saw her a gaint rune dragon looking at us. Her fur was grayish with white dots to blend into the snow, her wings are gray and white with blue markings, the eyes shone, and she had huge claws, and a pinkish nose. We both stared at her then I said "Spade come on lets leave this nice rune alone and go find Rick and Grass again. Wait where's the path!?" I turn around in a full circle looking for the path that I don't see. The rune looking at us jumped down and touched my hand with her tail and started to go. I looked at Spade and put him on my shoulder as we went after the snow leaprod rune that I later found out thats its kind. We soon found the trail and Rick, and grass waiting and yelling are names well Rick was anyways. I yelled back saying that were ok! and that we found some help from a rune! When we got back to the trail the Snow leapord rune didn't leave but stayed by me. i was aa little confused tell I asked the rune if she would like to come home with me. Then rune seemed to smile and nodded her head as I talked and asked if she liked the name Smokey in which she did.


Later when we got back at the motel I was sitting on the floor in one of the rooms we rented telling Rick how Smokey showed us back to them after Spade found her. I watch as Spade chases Smokey's tail and laugh when he doesn't catch it then how grass watches from atop a shelf adn fly's down to sit on my shoulder as Spade comes then Smokey. "a new member of the family "I think to myself. Rick smiles and says "Your family is just going to keep getting biger and bigger." I smile at that and say back "and i'm fine with that I will always welcome more rune's into my home but i don't think i'm going to need and anymore for right now these three are just fine." We both smile as I then yell "lets go play in the snow!" We all run outside and play in the snow throwing snowballs or for the runes shakes trees above mine and Rick's head making the snow fall ontop of us or just tripping us making us fall into the soft snow.
