Matthew is the first heir of Francis and Jane. Francis is out hunting, and when he comes back, he is carrying a bird. When he drops the bird, Matthew and Jane are not surprised to see it is not dead. When the bird bows and greets Matthew, Jane is impressed and Matthew is amazed.
