Ice Tiger/Water Tiger

Postby Narnian. » Wed Aug 29, 2012 2:10 pm

Design for my story. Please feel free to use idea, but NOT appearance, story, characteristics, or any other part of it EXCEPT the idea.

Cousins:
Aires tigris (Air Tiger)
Tigris Terra (Earth Tiger)

The Tigris Aqua/Tigris Glacies is a magnificent, beautiful animal.
A very rare sight to see, as the Water Tigers are only seen near oceans or in the Tundra, only at night, under the light of the full moon. As not many sighting have been reported; it is assumed they are rather shy and mysterious, even more so than the Earth Tiger. Also like the Earth Tiger, they live in solitude, and are very strong and powerful.
They seem to be able to manipulate water, steam, and ice.

The inhabitants of the Tundra tell stories suggesting that these extremely powerful creatures have been seen producing blizzards.
Similar stories told by Sea-side villagers suggest that the animals can create tsunamis, can control the tide, and even a legend of a Water Tiger and Air Tiger working together to create a Hurricane.
No one knows for sure why they have two names, as they are the same species.
But residents of the Tundra and the people of the Fishing Villages still claim the tigers found near the ocean are Water Tigers and that the Tigers found in the Tundra are Ice Tigers.
They are more commonly called Water Tigers though, as Tundra inhabitants are few and far between, often as little as 4 families living in a village.

Once finding a mate, they live together, until the female delivers its cubs. Then the male leaves, never to return. These creatures' parenting styles are unique to themselves, as some mothers may stay with their children until they master their powers, some leave as soon as they can hunt by themselves.

Both Tigers eat fish and water plants, but the similarities in their diets stop there. Tigers living by the sea may eat seaweed, crustacean, starfish, even eel and occasionally otter.
Ice Tigers diets are made up by fish of course, penguins, and other flightless birds. They may also consume Ice Berries.
