"The Thistle Rune is a dragon which usually presides among thistles and dense woodlands. It's skin is hard and immune to the sharp barbs which stick out from the plant, and even the Rune is known for it's sharp temper and cranky personality. These Rune Dragons are often used by people who collect herbs and plants from the forests and dabble in healing magic. This little dragon has a very special talent for finding rare plants and is immune to almost any toxins exuded from plants or forest creatures. The feathers from a Thistle Rune also hold great healing properties and are only given to those they trust and deem a friend. However, their prized blood is also coveted by many greedy souls, and the Thistle Rune is now almost extinct due to poachers who harvest the dragon's parts for herbal remedies that are said to cure any and all diseases. While this may true, no rune should be used in such a way, and all dragons are living magical creatures. This dragon is now rarely seen and only found in dense remote forests around Eldemore. Even then, they are extremely weary of humans and have had to become hostile in nature in order to defend themselves. For even tough Thistle Runes have a hot temper, they do not have any natural defenses in order to protect themselves, besides their own tooth and claws. A Thistle Rune who gives up it's feathers or a single drop of blood should do so freely, it's magical properties are much stronger this way, rather than being bled dry by some poacher. The little Rune I have found may be one of the last of it's kind and it is not fond of me nor any other human at all. It has taken months to show this Rune that I mean no harm, yet it still does not easily trust others. It even has a little bandanna and bangles that it refuses to let anyone touch, perhaps this once belonged to it's previous owner or someone it loved? A very gentle soul is needed to bond to this Rune and I am searching for a Bearer as we speak. Perhaps one will pass by my cottage and finally be able to break through this Rune's prickly nature that was caused by man. Once you get past it's sharp personality I know this Rune will be a loyal companion to the end."

The little rune stood facing me, fear in his eyes but he refused to falter, even as Azreth stepped closer, he stood facing us, not running, not hiding, standing face to face to the two monsters that threatened him.

When the thistle finally simmered down and realized that we weren’t going to hurt him he stood his ground testing the waters first with Azreth, taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back, it was amazing how cautious he was keeping his wings open so he could fly at any time or smelling the air first for any sign of other danger.

Soon after the little rune stated to enjoy being around Azreth and I, I fell and cut my knee quite painfully and the little rune was there at my side instantly, fetching some plants that obviously had some medicinal value as the pain instantly eased and the cut healed over quite quickly. I wasn’t the only one he cared for and soon realized it was part of his nature, flying nests back to the branches they fell off of, removing thorns from animals paws and lots of stuff like that, so I instantly realized how caring the guy was and that he had a talent for healing.

When Rae started perching on my shoulder just after I gave him his name I started to see signs of protectiveness, he would leap down from my shoulder and stop Azreth every time he was about to step on a branch of thorns that could hurt him, Rae also led us away from poisonous plants and would growl every time an animal headed our way wanting our attention.

Why do you wish to have him/her:
When I first saw this guy my mouth fell open, it was like he was out of one of my dreams, brilliant green with red mixed in, eyes that speak fighter and just this kind of adventure like air about him, I then read his story already very interested in trying out and my heart gave a little twinge, he was perfect, a caterpillar needing only the right mixture of love and fun to turn it into a butterfly. He has potential no doubt about it and that’s what draws me to him the most.

Where will you keep him/her:
Whell he will defenatily inhappit my signature for a while, but will find a permanent home in my character site right next to Azreth, but that’s not the only place you will find him, he will defenatly drift around some rp’s and in the okaki boards aswell as spamming the fan club with art of himself.

Would you like to breed him/her in the future:
I must say that that is completely up to him< he might not find a rune he trusts enough to mate with or he might, that completely depends on him, but thistle rune babies running around could be amazing! (in other words, yes I would like to breed him but will be extremely picky as to with who…)

Any Quirks:
Rae has an obsession with tiger lilies, he loves eating them, using them as décor, selling them and sleeping between them, Rae refuses to sleep unless he is surrounded by these beautiful sweet smelling flowers.

The Tiger Lily, bears large, fiery orange flowers covered by spots. The name tiger probably refers to the spots on the petals.
The flowers of this perennial can grow up to three inches in width. The Tiger Lily is also known as the Ditch Lily.
The Tiger Lily has a strong, sweet and distinctively lily smell. Besides producing a stunning spectacle, most parts of this plant are edible.

At times Rae can be in the mood for joking around and Azreth always ends up the victim, Rae hops onto his snout and makes some guttural sounds that make me cringe and quake, obviously the sound doesn’t have the same effect on Azreth as he then drifts to sleep. Raphael then finds flowers with the most pollen (always different) and tickles Azreth’s nose making him sneeze into his Human form.

Other:
The winds whispered softly through prickly bushes as Azreth and I walked through tiger Lily covered fields, fireflies dipping around us and setting the sky alight in such a way that even the stars would envy them. The air was slightly damp but wharm, whisking through the plants and gently rippling over the water nearby as a strange gnawing sound set me on edge and made the hair at the back of my neck stand up “what’s that” I whispered softly to Azreth as his eyes searched the ground and then focused on a small patch of spotted orange flowers, “thistle” he answered me and I could feel the frown forming on my brow “you mean like the flower” I even felt ridiculous for saying it because plants did not gnaw.
Azreth took a few steps forward, wide eyed and shaking his head “no” he whispered barely audible “a dragon” he said and I could feel my jaw go slack, I’ve heard of these dragons, believed to be lost to time but obviously that information was faulty as a small dragon with shocking red markings and accessories stood before me chewing on a tiger lily, he was amazing with his pointed mane and caring gaze as he looked at the flowers nearby “wow!” he said to loud and his head whipped around, fear flashing in his eyes. “I…I’m sorry” I stuttered ridiculously at the small dragon and took a step back nearly stumbling, soon the dragon relaxed slightly and started walking towards Azreth making some guttural noises that seemed to relax the huge ancient, the little rune still weary walked towards the ancient and lifted his face to meet Azreth’s “hello” Azreth said blinking at the little rune lovingly, is I relaxed I stumbled again but this time fell and cut my leg, the thistle hopped a few steps back when I fell but neared me as crimson droplets spread over my leg and fell to the ground.
I didn’t even notice the rune next to me until I felt the sharp pain of something pressed to the wound, but the pain ended soon as the large leave seemed to drain it from my leg, “thank you” I said looking at the little rune wide eyed as he smeared some sap into the cut, “you’re quite the healer aren’t you?” I said as I watched the little rune at work, “thank you” I said again and slowly stuck out my hand witch he instantly rubbed against accepting my thanks and my friendship.
