It isn't often I do "serious" digital works where I put a ton of effort into everything, including the background. This piece is probably one of my favorites of all time. So, naturally, I've written a little story for this:

Clever yawned and stretched. He'd been wandering for quite some time now, and his paws ached from walking such a distance. The fresh scent of pine tickled at his nose and he trudged through the red-pine forest. After a long while of dragging his feet, Clever came to a small stream, gurgling cheerfully as it wound through the forest. Relieved, he bent and lapped at the water, which was cold and clean. He followed the stream, listening to the sound of birds making their good-night songs, of owls gently cooing as they set out to hunt, and the frantic flapping of bats as they chased after insects.
The stream led to a small clearing. Clever shook himself, rather happy to be off of pine needles and onto the soft, blue-green grass of the meadow. A small bug buzzed in front of Clever's nose. He snapped at it, and it quickly darted up a few feet. After a moment, the bug flashed, as if it had a tiny sun inside it's body! But the light was gone as soon as it'd appeared. Clever blinked a few times, not sure if he was seeing correctly. Several feet away, another tiny sun appeared for a moment, also coming from one of the annoying bugs. Delighted, Clever chased after the bugs as they whirred and danced around the meadow, flashing their tiny suns.
Eventually he caught one, his front paws together on it. Very slowly he moved his paws to the side. The tiny-sun-bug jumped back into the air and hovered just above Clever's head. Feeling content, Clever lay down and watched the tiny-sun-bug, amazed at the beauty that he'd found in such tiny, insignificant little creatures.
