I wuffles her so much...
This is Yuthe, (Yoo-thay) my seamonster, attacking her first ship! (A small rowboat that the children forgot to tie up >3<)
Well here's the story. I just went on a cruise (woohoo
) and I was sittng there thinking about what animals I wanted to see. Well I kinda wanted to see a sea monster. I know, they unfortunately, as far as science goes, do not exist. ;-; but it would still be cool. Well, I started drawing a sea monster and it turned out to be Yuthe (pronounced Yoo-Thay). She's bautifully adated to sea life. As you can see she has various fins and a powerful tail, which gets her around. She has sharp teeth to grasp slippery fish, and she has the typical coloring of light on the bottem and dark blue on top, same as whales and sharks and such, so that if you're a fish and you look up, you'll see the sun through the water, and it will be the same color as Yuthe's body, so you won't be able to see her very well, while if you're above her, same thing. You'll see the dark deep depths of the ocean and her back will match. what are the blue rings and silvery spots and fins doing? The blue rings my friends, are to scare off rivals and predators. Bigger eyes, bigger bodies, it's something moths do as well. The fins are to attract mates and also to scare off predators as well, they can be pressed flat and basically unseen, but pop up and startle a predator. Now the spots are something to attract prey. Ever heard of feeding frenzies in the oceans? A school of fish, (baitfish or such) out in open water, seagulls, big fish, and all sorts of sealife come to dine. All Yuthe would have to do is stirr up the water with her huge fins, and it would attract seagulls which she could snatch up, and tuna and all sorts. Trust me I've seen it. The gulls were all over the splashes that the boat made.. This was a simple background and very lazy but I'm proud of it, it's my first ever in-water pic. >3<
