Lupin was the eldest son of a trapper, whose name was Abbatha. She lived on the money she sold from illegaly trapping animals. When she had found a newspaper about Herrietta, she had ordered her son,Lupin,to set a baited trap in hopes of catching her."We'll sell her to the circus!"Abbatha cried."We'll be rich!Hurry,Lupin!Go get the trap set!Make sure it's right beside her faverate rock!"
Lupin gathered his supplies, which included a live fish as bait, and hurried off toward the boat rental shack. He jumped in a motor boat, ignoreing the angry shouts of "Theif!" from the owner. He got the motor going and went off on a three-day journey.
"She's a petty..thing..."Lupin sang drowsily on the second day,his body laying in a messy clump off furs from a bear to keep out the angry mob of mosqitoues."She rides the ocean blue...We call her,yes we dooooo...."He yawned, wishing the bear fur wasn't so sufficating. He perked his ears when he heard a splash.Carefully,he removed the bear fur coat and looked over the side of the boat, resisting the urge to swat at the bugs that flew around him."Hello?"He called wearily, his eyes drooping. He hadn't slept the whole night, and was now suffering from the summer sun.His motor boat had become a row boat, due to a shortage of oil.He felt like letting himself fall into the warm ocean water. He would swim down into the cooler parts, and fall asleep....
THWACK!
Lupin screamed as his boat nearly tipped over."Mercy on me!"He yelped as he hid under the fur coat."Have mercy on me!"He waited. All her heard now was the gentle waves lapping at his boat,an a sea gull over head.He got up from under the coat."I know your there."he whispered, shaking in fright."Please don't hurt me."
"Let him go."A stern female voice ordered."Huh?"Lupin spun around- and nearly fell over! "Herrietta!" "Yes."The black merdog replied."Now let the fish go."She pointed her paw at the fish in the bucket."Ofcourse,m'am."He said, grabbing the bucket and pouring the contents into the ocean."What are you doing out here?"Herrietta asked in a buisness-like voice."Just...uhhh...sight seeing."Lupin lied, his voice quivering."You lie to everyone like that?"The merdog growled."I know why your here. You brought that trap for me,didn't you?"Lupin collasped in the boat."Please don't hurt me!My mother made me!She said we'd be rich!We barely survive, you have to understand!"Lupin looked up to see that Herrieta had taken no mercy on him.She swam over and grabbed the side of the boat, making it tip."You can replace money."She hissed as she tipped the boat even further."But you cannot replace a life!"With that she pulled the side of the boat until it was completely tipped over.Lupin cried out,but it was muffled because of the water he swallowed.Lupin then did something he'd never done before; he cried.Tears streamed out of his eyes, mixing into the water.Herrietta turned around to tell him something, when she saw his expression. She felt her anger fade and helped him to the surface."You care?"She asked him as she set him on the over turned boat."Very much,ma'm." Lupin sniffled."I hate being a trapper, honest I do.My mother telled me Trap'n was great fun- but really it's great pain."He wiped his tears with a paw."Please forgive me,Herrietta.Oh,and one last thing.."He lifted his head and looked into her dark blue eyes."Your prettier than a jewel."
Herrietta had never felt this way about anyone in her life. She knew right then, that she loved a trapper's son.
