"The Story of the Bearer With the Soul of a Wolf"

"The Celtic Wolf Rune is only found in the forests of the Celtlands in the land of Eldemore. Hardy people live in these lands filled with legends and tales. The Rune Bearers who hail from the moors are fair skinned, with either pale green or blue eyes, and a thick flowing accent. The Runes who are found here are no different, and are stout creatures with stubborn tempers like their bearers. One such Rune species that I found on my visit to these lands was the legend of the Celtic Wolves, Rune Dragons who hold the spirit of the wild within their howls and run in packs. They are rarely seen but their ghostly songs can be heard in the dead of night as shadows filter through the trees. It is said among the locals that only individuals who hold the spirit of the wild in their souls can ever call upon the Celtic Wolf Rune to claim as their own. However, even then it is a dangerous task to bond with one of the wolf spirits. With golden eyes that bleed red in their center, and fur the color of jade like the forest leaves, they will challenge the strength of the one who wishes to bond with them, and must prove to the dragon that they are wild like one of the pack. These Runes are large beasts and are twice the size of any dog, they are swift and cunning, and only the ancient Celtic Kings of old have ever been known to create a bond with the Celtic Wolf Rune. For if a bearer can tame one of the beast of the wild, then it is said that that bearer is also destined to do great things. Any of the local Celtlands who are seen with a Celtic Wolf Rune are revered and respected, with great reason. These Runes are the symbol of power, loyalty, and great cunning. As is the Rune Bearer who is bonded with the dragon and the loyal Rune who stand proudly by their side."

۞ Intelligent
۞ Cunning
۞ Loyal
۞ Generous
۞ Compassionate
۞ Brave
۞ Affectionate
۞ Faithful

Why do you wish to have him/her:
I LOVE celtic stories/designs and lore. Wolves have always been my favorite animal, and I love his coloring!
Where will you keep him/her:
Sig/Character Thread
Would you like to breed him/her in the feature:
YES!
Any Quirks:
Rhyddid likes some different things, and to be honest, some of the things he likes blow me away.

His Favorite Song: When We Stand Together - Nickelback

Favorite Food: Hagas and french fries. He LOVES french fries.

Favorite Activity: Oddly enough, darts. And he's really good at them. Scary good.

Favorite Sleeping Place: My bed. He sleeps on the foot of my bed, and I say that loosely. Because of his size he takes up a large majority of my bed.

Favorite Person: Besides me, he loves my very shy friend Arc, and will snuggle her for hours as she reads a book softly to him.

Favorite Saying: YOLO. You only live once. He's big on this.

Favorite Movie: A romantic by heart, he happens to love this short movie

Other:

Just a short story of how Rhyddid and I met, and a poem he inspired.

<-Story->

๒єﻮเภภเภﻮ ๏Ŧ tђє єภ๔, єภ๔ ๏Ŧ tђє ๒єﻮเภภเภﻮ
It had been a fairly uneventful day, and because I was weary from a recent trip I only had my faithful Incept with me as I wandered around the agora. It was nice, a pleasant day as I browsed the vendors, just doing some idle shopping. I never knew what was going to come of my little trip, or the adventure that lay in waiting for me.

The day was passing slowly by, and the sun had been high in the sky when I found a small booth squeezed in on the very end of a row. The booth seemed very old; the wood bleached and cracked, the green cloth that the vendor’s wares lay upon faded and thread-bare. The vendor herself seemed as old as her booth, her unseeing eyes eerie as she peered at me. Her gnarled hands were clasped, silver and gold rings winking at me as she slowly unfurled one hand. She held out that white-skinned hand, the veins clearly visible, “Mae fy mhlentyn,”
Her words were foreign, and I looked at Incept, who peered avidly at the crone.

“My child.” She translated finally, “You are an adventurer, a brave soul.”
I nodded, forgetting she was blind, and then I spoke, “Yes..?”

She cocked her head to the side, as if peering beyond me, “You fight hard for what you believe, protecting those you love.” Without a warning, her hand grasped mine, and I gasped at the warmth of her flesh. “Aye, galon dewr, Brave Heart. I have long awaited your arrival.”
I tried to pull back my hand, not understanding her, my mind running to the conclusion she was perhaps mad, but she wouldn’t give back my hand.
I jerked harder, but still she held on to me, her fingers digging into my flesh. Then, without warning she released me, and her hand swept to her wares. Her fingers lingered over each item, before at last she found what she had been looking for.

A silver pendent, a Celtic knot I had never before seen, hung dull, and aged. She thrust it at me, and I stepped back, hands up-raised.

“I’m not looking for jewelry.” I said, not touching the necklace. For some reason it called to me, and everything inside me screamed. It was a chaotic emotion, pulling and pushing me towards and away from the metal piece.
She shook her head, her thick white hair swishing softly, “Na, mae'n chi.” Her gnarled fingers reached for mine, opening my palm, “It is yours.” She repeated. Smiling, looking relieved and slightly weary, she sighed. “Mae'n cael ei wneud. Teithiau diogel.”

I looked from her to the necklace she had place in my hand, bewildered and confused. Then, my world began to spin, and I reached out for the crone’s table to steady myself, only to find it gone. In my ear I heard Incept screech, and darkness flooded my vision until I knew no more. Her last words ringing through my mind, ‘It is done. Safe travels.’
*****
I awoke to Incept’s rather forceful nudging, and I blinked open my eyes. I expected to see the cobblestones of the marketplace, see dirt and debris, people’s feet, but I saw only green. Confused I lifted my head, eyes squinting as I peered around. “What..?”

I was no longer in the marketplace, there were no buildings, no vendors, only what appeared to be, a lovely clearing. Thick lush grass blanketed the floor, trees of rich emerald greens towered, lush plant life surrounding me. I pushed to my knees, wondering at the struggle that involved, my normal breeches never offered such problems, until I saw why it was such a pain to get up. My normal clothes were gone!

I pulled at the green dress, coarse yet soft, wondering how it came to clothe me. My eyes wandered around as I say up, a worried frown pulling at my lips. Incept sat perched on the ground beside me and when I turned to her she flapped and landed on my shoulder. Her familiar weight comforted me, even as her claws gripped my shoulder.

“What happened Incept?” I looked at her, and she only shook her head, even my brilliant Phoenix was confused. I got to my feet, stumbling over the hem of the dress, catching myself on one of the trees that stood close. As I leaned against the tree, my hair in wild disarray around me, I saw it. The necklace the crone had given me! I grasped the Celtic knot, “It wasn’t a dream?”

Eyes wide, I look to Incept, who peers at me and then at the knot. Back and forth her gaze moves, and I bite back my frustration. Now wasn’t the time for my most faithful Rune to find something interesting. “Incept! Please, help here.” She glares at me, stung by my tone, and she snorts, clearly affronted. I sigh, and accept that I’m going to have to find the answers I seek elsewhere.

I began walking forward, no clear path in mind, as I searched for possible clues. My bare feet found comfort in the warm thick grass, and slowly I found myself enjoying my surroundings. Too soon I had forgotten my purpose, and Incept and I played in the gale, ducking through the bushes and dodging around trees. Our game had no clear meaning, or purpose, but we found it fun, and our laughter rang through the forest.

Who knows how many hours we played, until I flopped down beside a small brook, happily exhausted, throwing back my head to look at the sky. Twilight was dawning, and suddenly I was once again worried, and to be honest, afraid. I was in a whole new place, without any of my normal supplies, any of my normal gear at all!
I looked at Incept, who appeared to have also remembered, as she nuzzled my knee gently, as a small thread of doubt and uncertainty wound its way around my heart. I knew we needed to find shelter of some sort before night fell, and the creatures of this forest decided to come out and play. I scooped up my tired Rune and began walking. This time the dread that filled my stomach stayed, heavy like lead, keeping all other thoughts at bay.

It was as the moon began its accent into the darkening sky I found it, a large circle of towering silver stones. Something about the stones felt safe to me, and I entered the circle, looking closely at the beautiful stones. Each one bore a mark, something different than the others before it. Intrigued, I traced each image, almost, reverently. Until I stood before the last stone, the stone whose image matched the pendent I wore. Hand shaking, my finger traced it, and I whispered, “Dechrau o'r Diwedd Diwedd y dechrau” Where the words came from, I don’t know. But when I said the words the carved images suddenly shone with a brilliant emerald glow. I gasped, stumbling back, looking at the other stones. Each image shone brightly, glowing that beautiful green, starkly against the silver stone.
Incept squawked abruptly as I stumbled and fell in the center of the circle, her large wings beating the air as she flew overhead. She attempted to leave the circle, and chattered angrily when she found her way barred by some unseen force.

A thrum of fear filled me, along with a ripple of excitement. What had I done? I heard the howls before my eyes saw anything, and the hair on the back of my neck rose, a shiver racking down my spine. Then, as if called, from each of the stones appeared a creature like none I’d seen before. Bestial creatures, taller than I, heads, tails and paws of a wolf, body of a Rune, and swirling green made up their color.

I looked for an opening, a way away from the snarling snouts, laid back ears and thrashing tails. I dove for the only opening I saw, only to slam into the same unseen wall Incept had encountered. I shivered as I felt warm breath blow across the back of my nape, stirring the hair that lay there. Swallowing deeply, I dug deep, reaching for the courage I had within, and I turned.

My eyes met the golden eyes, the centers a deep crimson and I frowned. I had to look up to this creature! The snarling muzzle stopped quivering and the lips fell back down as the creature and I faced off. Incept squawked excitedly, and I pulled my gaze away from the deep gold eyes, looking for her, and I saw one of the other creatures attempting to catch her! Furious as a mama bear whose cub had been hurt I stormed over to the other creature, and promptly smacked on the nose. “Bad!”

Surprise flooded the face of the creature and its ears fell back, its tail drooping. The creature even whined softly! I pointed a finger at the beast, “Incept is NOT food.” Then I held out my arm for her, and she gladly landed, nuzzling close to my neck, a soft coo rumbling out of her throat. Once my sweet Rune was safe I took the time to look at the creatures, noting their strange forms, and finally it dawned on me.

I had once heard of Runes that were larger than humans, and these creatures were Runes! Each wolf-like Rune had a different Rune Mark, and each watched me in a wary, almost excited way. Then the one that I had squared off with earlier came close, its head barely bowed, and tail wagging ever so slightly. Another deep breath and I held out one hand to the Rune, waiting.

He moved closer still, and gently sniffed my hand and then it pressed its nose to my palm. Ears pricked forward, tail wagging wildly now. I found my lips lifting in a smile and I let my hand smooth over his velvety nose.

He was amazing, not scary at all! Something otherworldly and ethereal, but also so real. He made me feel insubstantial standing in front of him, but he also made me feel so accepted. “Wow…” The word slipped from my lips as I continued to gaze at him in awe, my hand brushing through his thick silky fur, trailing down to the silver metal collar he wore. A gasp stole from my lungs as I traced the Celtic knot engraved in the metal. My breath became to come in short, hard pants, no freaking way! It was the exact replica of the pendent I now wore from the Crone. Startled eyes flew up to meet his golden bled crimson eyes, and he nuzzled me.

As he nuzzled the side of my neck multiple thoughts raced through my head. First off being, he could snap my neck with the simplest of ease. Second being, is this all a cruel dream? If this was a dream, I wasn’t sure if I ever wanted to wake. He had already taken a chunk of my heart, and I knew if he wasn’t real I’d surely mourn him. I knew that this Rune had stolen his way into my thoughts and heart forever.

“Please be real…” I murmured the words. And his ears cocked toward me, as he stepped back, his friends each turning back toward their own stone. I gasped, watching as one by one, each wagged their tail and slipped back into their stone, until at last it was only Incept, myself and him within the circle.

“Don’t go!” I cried, reaching out to thread my fingers in his fur, but he was already turned to head back into the stone carved with his Celtic knot. “No!” The word ripped from me as he disappeared back into the stone. I watched helplessly as the green glow dissipated, and the circle fell. And I felt my head begin to spin.

Stepping forward, I leaned against the stone into which he had left; I felt hot tears coursing down my cheeks, dizziness stealing my vision even as I slid to my knees. “No.” Strangled the word was etched with aching longing. But then I knew no more. As the darkness swept over me once again.
*****
I was jerked awake by a hand firmly grasping my shoulder, shaking me. Disoriented and dazed I blinked, looking around, unsure of where I was. Everything came flooding back as I looked around the agora, venders and booths lining the street, each calling out their wares loudly. The cacophony was back, the people were back, reality was back.

I shuddered as my heart squeezed painfully and a tear slipped down my cheek.
“Are you alright, Lady?” The gruff voice jerked me from my melancholy thoughts, and I looked up to see the source of the voice. She was a woman in her prime, beautiful and she reminded me of a Mother. Why? I know not. But she was real and in front of me, and I realized I was sprawled in a heap on the cobblestone street, and I grasped her hand to come to my feet.

“I’m okay.” My voice cracked, I wasn’t okay. But I wasn’t going to tell a complete stranger that. I forced my eyes up, searching for my Rune Incept, finding her perched on one of the vender’s booth. I whistled, lifting my arm and she came over to settle on my shoulder. Her weight squeezed at my heart, Incept was real. My dream was not.
“Now, now. It can’t be that bad.” I heard the woman say, and I blinked, realizing she was still there. “Sorry?” I asked, confused. She had no idea of the maelstrom of pain raging within my heart. She shook her head, and sighed. “Ach, you’ll be fine lass. Things aren’t always as they seem.” I didn’t know why, but the way she said that had my brain searching for another face.

“Thanks…” I mumbled softly, wanting only to go home and cry for a while, before sucking it up and dealing with my overly avid and active imagination. I turned to leave when she called, “Wait! Donn’ want be forgetting this.” I turned as she held out a hand. I held out my hand to accept whatever it must have been I dropped. I frowned as a cold solid weight filled my hand, and when I opened my palm I let out a shocked squeak.

It was the pendant from my dream! I raised my eyes, searching for the woman, but she was gone. I looked at Incept, who only blinked back at me in her usual way. And I took off, racing for home. I never made it to my front door, only managing to get as far as the gateway into my cottage before I was body-slammed.

The green blur had appeared from nowhere, and I had no time to react. Incept however, reacted faster than I did. She launched herself off of my shoulder as I was pinned to the dirt path, as a large furry body rubbed against mine. I laughed, looking up into golden bled crimson eyes.

“You’re here!” I wrapped my arms around the Rune, feeling a joy fill my heart.
“Of course he’s here.” I jerked in surprise at the young woman’s voice, blinking as I looked at the woman. She appeared to be around my age, early twenties, and beautiful beyond words. With her flowing hair and long dress she reminded me of my “dream”.

She moved closer, smoothing hand gently along the Rune’s snout, smiling gently. “He is yours, and you are his, galon dewr. Rhyddid Gwyllt, Wild Freedom was meant o be meant to be your companion, if you could be brave.” She looked at me, with crystal clear eyes of green so sharp they hurt to look at.

I stood, shocked by all of this. The language she spoke was the same as the crone had used, but her tone was like that of the older woman from moments ago. “How? I mean, what are you saying?”

She shrugged, “Some call it fate, destiny. I call it the Beginning of the End, and End of the Beginning. The never-ending circle.”

I had no idea what she was talking about, but she didn’t seem to care. “You’re young, but you have a brave and good heart.” She stepped back away from Rhyddid, looking at me. “Blessed be my child.” And she vanished.

I stood there, gawking at the spot she had just occupied and promptly passed out. I woke to a warm nose nuzzling me, and I giggled, blinking open my eyes to see my newest rune. “Rhyddid…” His eyes brightened and he gave me a more exuberant nudge. I knew all was okay, and so right. “Come on, let’s go home.”

**The language used by the Crone (and later by my character) is Welsh. I apologize for any mistakes there might be. All faults are mine. A small tidbit fact, I loosely based my story off of the Celtic Knot of the Goddess. Maiden, Mother and Crone, thus that character in my story. I figured I'd bring in the Celtic lore and still have fun with the story. C:

<-Poem->
Chasing the sunset
Racing towards the night
All hopes hedged on a single bet
Heart galloping, taking fancifull flight

The approaching night nears
Anticipation grows, flowly freely
In a single flare, enlightenment sears
As the moonlight crests, see clearly

Slipping through the veil
Feel the whispering caress of spectrals past
Stepping into the emerald gale
Bathed by brillant shining astrals cast

Come face to face with the beast
See beyond the mask, past the fears
All is not as it seems in the least
Let hope rise and burst forth, falling tears

See the magic unfold, so true
Heart leaping wildly with cheer
Embrace and accept something so new
Something worth more than all, near and very dear

Owner Name:
Ravenclaw<3
Name:
Legend
Gender:
Male
Personality:
Legend hold great power beneath his outer layer. He likes to find himself leader of the pack. As, anything lower wouldn't fit his fancy. Feathers, jewels and rocks. Anything of great color and mysticness. If he finds something like that, he will keep it as his own. Filling his sundappled forest cave with beautty. There is nothing he respects more than the beautty of nature. He would fight to save the forest if it came to it. Though, he hopes highly it won't. Legend doesn't like fighting, but he won't back down from a threat.
Why do you wish to have him/her:
If you could know what came into my head when I saw him. You'd know I'm much as bonded to him as if I could reach out and touch him. Feel his leathery skin and soft feathers. I could never get over myself if I didn't get him because I didn't put enough workinto getting him.
Where will you keep him/her:
Whatever I need to do to keep his spirit alive.
Would you like to breed him/her in the feature:
Legend has high standards. So, he may or may not be tempted to breed. Unless, of course, they are perfect.
Any Quirks:
As a wolf rune, Legend may break out howling at any time. If he feels strong emotion. Even though it may not seem like he should be.
Other:
I can't find a way to express my love for him.

Owner Name:
Kyera
Name:
Navaeda ( Pronounced Nevada)
Gender:
Female
Personality:
Nav is very, very sneaky and sly. She often tends to scare the people of Eldermore by perching on rocks and ledges and howling her eerie howls, or glaring from her depths in the shadows. Even though her coat is a bright happy grey-green, her eyes shows the cunning of a demon. Due to her wolf-like feet, Navaeda is very fast and often shows off, although her flying skills are lacking.
Nava is the type to also make people and runes outfox themselves.
Very loyal, although she sometimes steals my ham.
Why do you wish to have him/her:
I have been trying for tons and tons of runes..I love them so mch, and the wolf is my favorite animal, I shook with joy when I saw her. I must have her, although if somebody else wins, I shall congratulate them and try my lucka t something else. Being a good sport is tops.
Where will you keep him/her:
A thread,and my signature.
Would you like to breed him/her in the feature:
YESYEYSYESYES!
Any Quirks:
Navaeda likes to howl at the moon, and is nocturnal. She only will rouse at day if needed, or if I tempt her with ham, which she adores. Shen angered, Navaeda snarls and growls like a wolf. And when conent, she yips and barks.
Other:
" Git that creatchur outta heyur!" The Innkeeper's foreign accent was muffled as she picked up Navaeda by the collar and threw her out, causing a thump. I glared at the innkeeper, and shouted angrily behind me, in a mock accent, which was rude, but made me feel better. " She jost stole yore ham!!" The Innkeeper's pudgy face turned bright red with rage. " Ne'er come back 'ere!"
I scoffed, then bent down and petted Nava. " It's Ok girl, we'll soon be home and away from awkward accents."
The Rune Dragon chuffed in laughter. " We can camp, I brought myself a tent and sleeping bag just incase, plus our boat to home is tommorow at eight" The Rune nodded in silent agreement and looked at me with hopeful eyes. " No you may not scare people tonight! Youre staying with me" Sulking, Navaeda chose the way, south, the way to the boat to the boat dock.
Now onyl half a mile from the dock, I set up the tent, it was small, but could support me and Navaeda.
Sweating, I looked at the sky. It was a rich golden, with red bleeding, like Navaeda's eyes. " Im very luck to have this rune, she's my life" With that, I walked into the tent.
”Why? Why do humans always look to the sky? Why do you try so hard to fly when you don't have any wings? We'll run on our own legs.”

(I am Irish myself and I love this rune! I was drawn to the fact it looks as if it was ready to burst with excitement and I love excitement! I also love the different colors of green.)
Image
(I will put him in my siggy with My two others. I will do as much I am allowed too.)

(Yes)

(Since no one is perfect, I am sure he has some issues. Like when he is nervous, rarely, his bottom lip quivers. Or the fact he can't sleep himself. He has to pester Lacey or Spirit to sleep with them.)

.:Story for Art:.
FAOLÁN edged to the end of the woods. He saw a butterfly that mocked his colors. He growled and creeped through the high grass like a cat. He wiggled his rear and leaped at the butterfly, but it was to smart for him! The butterfly flapped his wings and got away.
He chased the butterfly through the field, and right back into the woods, and back out again. He finally caught the darn thing, but saw the fear in it's multi-eyes and let it free. He had spent two days chasing that one butterfly.
He decided to go home and cul up and sleep, so the Rune did do just that.

Poem one:
Green
Made by me
Green,
That is all you see
Green,
That is all you feel
Green,
The feathers bristle up
The wind picks up
Then you know the hunt is on
Red,
The bloody looking eyes of the Green
Silver,
The way it knows it owner
Green,
The Celtic Wolf Rune Ways...
