My neighborhood has a large raccoon, skunk, feral cat population (even a few beavers near the river), especially in the parks.
I was with two of my friends the other night and we were hanging out in one of the parks near our houses, as we walked along a trail that led out of the more secluded area we were in we saw a family of raccoons. There were two adults and four smaller raccoons, they were all climbing a relatively small tree and while it was adorable, one couldn't ignore the not-so-friendly glare coming from the largest raccoon we have ever laid eyes on.
At the base of the tree it sat, while it's family played oblivious to us. The raccoon stood on his hind legs and hissed at my friend, who had decided to take a path that was dangerously close to the defensive raccoon. My friend got freaked out and ran back to us, all the time watching the masked giant now making it's way towards us.
It was eerie, it's stare, it's slow walk towards us with it's unblinking eyes glaring off of the light from the nearest lamp post. We saw four more raccoons in different areas that night, and several cats we had mistaken for the little bandits.
It was maybe one or two in the morning so no one else was around, we were all worried we'd get jumped by a gang of rabid raccoons and no one would see/hear and come help us XD
Anyway, I really love raccoons and so I decided to draw one, I was kinda aiming for a charcoal type look on the raccoon, drawn with a laptop mouse, comments and likes are very much appreciated! <3
