Sooo I'll show you, using my character Dea as an example:
1. Sketch. Yes, it actually DOES look messy like that. sometimes even worse. I often enough have to make a clean sketch over the original one to find my way through this mess of lines. xD I use the pencil tool with size and opacity sensitive to pen pressure.
2. Line Art. I actually often use a cleaner, more detailed sketch to make the line art...What I did here is close to free hand drawing x'D. I use the same pencil tool, but I set the opacity pressure sensitivity off. oh, and I use a new layer, of course.
3. Colours! *Yay* Simple as that. I use the Brush Tool with size pen pressure sensitivity and block in the base colours. I either use one layer for each colour or do them all on one. If I do the latter, it's usually because I want to do the shading with a multiply layer on top of it. Which leads me to the next step:
4. Shadings, Effects and Stuff. Here, I simply duplicated the "colours" Layer, clicked "Lock Alpha", filled in a purple colour and set the layer on multiply. then I started to apply lighter shades of purple where the highlights would be, messed around with the layer opacity and voilá!^^ I also have another layer with minor highlights, for example on the eyes or the sword. and then I also have this thin line of reflected light. It's just a white line on Layer set on "Overlay". *yay for lazy shading*
Mh. Yeah. That's actually it. I use this method if want to do a quick drawing. I hope you enjoy this. And please comment.
