Stop saying..

Postby alfred ★ » Sun Jun 03, 2012 6:01 pm

"mouse artist" as a bad thing. Seriously. I'm getting sick of people blaming their "fails" or "bad drawings" on what equipment they use. I have a glitchy, old, worn down mouse and I would /never/ trade it for a tablet. Yes, drawing with a mouse can be difficult and frustrating at times but that doesn't mean you can blame it on the mouse. If your hand and eye coordination aren't the best then don't use one, don't even use a tablet because that's even harder, but if you do use one and you don't like your art /don't/ blame it on the mouse/tablet. The tools do what they're supposed to do, but it takes PRACTICE to get YOU better at using them. The Mouse/Tablet/Whatever you use has as much potential as you do. If you're a beginner the device is going to reflect that. Does that mean it's bad? No. You just need some practice. Most people assume I use a tablet, and then they don't seem to believe me when I /tell/ them I use a mouse and then they quote me like this: "Mouse artist?" in this posh tone as if it's a bad thing. I don't care if you use a tablet, a mouse, or a track pad, you're still a great artist! Everyone starts out sketchy, (Heck, if you look at my oldest drawings you have proof right there.) but everyone can end up /better/ then they started. It's /all/ about practice...

This! I've only ever used a mouse to draw and it's definitely super hard sometimes and can take FOREVER! but practice does make perfect! Just gotta keep at it! :) Love your drawing!

I love drawing with a mouse, I'd choose it over a tablet anyday. :3 You just gotta keep practising ~
I mean, I've improved alot if you look at my tiny gallery XD.

Yup! After a while, you get pretty attached to your tool. Even though I use a tablet, I'm sure if I had used my mouse all this time I'd still be as great an artist as I am today.
Contrary-wise, I see people complaining about difficult tablets are to use. It only seems that way because they're used to the mouse. My dad had to bug me about it for ages(he just wanted me to use it because he paid for it) before i even gave it a shot, and it took ages for me to actually get used to it.

I used a mouse for the longest time, truely prefering it over my tablet.... The only reason I use my tablet now is because I get pen pressure. But I think the mouse is MUCH easier
