Hello, all! We're nearly ready to be open to the public, all that's left to do is to finish up the thread. We should be open by next week if all goes well.
About Archae Dragons
Archae Dragons live up to their name of 'Archae', which means ancient. The Archae were first documented in the 1600s, although they are assumed to be far, far older as a species. They are carnivores, depending on mainly birds and small rodents for their nourishment. Archae can most often be found in tropical, humid climates, and love to perch high up in the canopies of trees. Their bones are hollow, rendering them fragile, but they make up for it in the ability to run at speeds of almost 30 mph.
Their wings allow them to fly for short periods of time, however they are not migrating creatures so powerful wings are not necessary. On all Archae Dragons' feet are a single sharp, needle-like claw filled with venom, which they use to their advantage in hunting. This venom has no effect whatsoever on humans or members of their own species, however it can mean the end for a small rodent.
Most Archae are fairly laid-back creatures, preferring resting and relaxing to playing and flying about. This makes them a good pet for someone who is more laid-back, or simply for someone looking for a companion to keep the mice away.
General Information
- Archae fur is always based on one color with multiple variations. Their feathers are usually complimentary in color to their fur, and have much more vibrant colors.
- Archae are skilled in the area of linguistics, and with patience and practice they can learn nearly any human language.
- Archae always carry a feather tied to a necklace with them. It is not known why, but scientists believe that they take their first shed wing feather, and tie it to a necklace in order to preserve the memory.
- Archae tend to live rather long lives, the oldest of its kind documented to live to be 113 years old. They are also fairly small for dragons, growing only to about the size of about 3 or 4 feet tall, usually smaller.
