As you may know, I am definitely not one for the spooky stuff. So when Bena suggested that we go visit some caves, poor Twitch was pulling me along as I dug in my heels as hard as I could. We found the Vampire Rune after we had already found the Toothless Rune halfway into the caves and I was beginning to calm, seeing that it was a seriously adorable Rune. Twitch had a good chat with that one. We were venturing a little bit further before we were going to turn back, when a screech rippled through the shadows. I couldnt help it, I screamed and hid behind the others. The Vampire Rune glided to the floor of the cave, its eyes glowing in the darkness, Twitch hopped forward to greet it, only to leap back as the Rune snapped at him. It took us an hour to catch him too, the cursed creature.
Conclusion of Rune: Impatient, snappy and wicked. Definitely not for a new owner, a more experienced owner, who maybe already owns one would be ideal. Although I may accept forms from new owners who feel they can relate to him and keep him under control.

And with an early judging... The Vampire Rune goes to,
Commander Sheppard with 'Thane'

Commander Shepard
Name:
(I swore to myself I would never do this, but the historical meaning is just too good) Thane; derived from Thanatos (god of death), as well as an old term for an assassin.
Gender:
Male
Personality:
Reclusive and snappish, easily irritated by loud sounds and bright light. If he's kept in a dark, quiet area though, Thane can become rather... amicable, at least to the point of not immediately attempting to bite someone's hand off. Enjoys reading, and has a particular interest in history, especially when war is involved- contrary to what one might expect, though, he prefers wars of wit rather than out and out battle. He also enjoys mysteries, whether real or fantasy, and has an insatiable love of riddles. Is very adverse to being held (or heaven forbid, cuddled), but if he's had a good meal, he doesn't to much to protest.
While he is an omnivore, and will occasionally settle for vegetation or raw meat, Thane's preferred meal is... well, fresh blood. Usually just from other animals though- large birds and large mammals, for example. That said, if given the chance and/or desperately hungry enough, he will attempt to feed on other Rune dragons, or even humans. If he goes without blood or meat for too long, his physical and mental state decline, making him clumsy and easily confused.
Why do you wish to have him/her:
Well, one, it's a vampire. That immediately makes it awesome xD Second, I enjoy the color scheme and design; how it manages to be menacing, but at the same time, you just want to pick him up and huggle him! It just seems like a fun Rune to call my own... and could produce some pretty crazy results if it were ever bred with Ashlyn or Oriana >D
Where will you keep him/her:
My writing thread, and I may swap him and Ashlyn out in my signature now and then.
Would you like to breed him/her in the feature:
Yes.
Any Quirks:
-Vegetables: Oddly enough, Thane here is an omnivore! However, it's incredibly rare to find him actually eating vegetables, he just kind of drains them...
-Nickname: For entirely unknown reasons, Oriana often calls him 'Bunnicula'. He only barely tolerates this, but the fact that she can manipulate dark matter is probably what discourages him from doing more than snapping now and then.
-Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny! Thane is very easily distracted by shiny or glittery objects; usually just beads, gemstones and bits of metal. He also shows bizarre behavior around spilled seeds or grain- no matter what he is supposed to be doing at the time, if he comes across such spilled items, he will sit and count each and every individual item.
-Aversion to Sun: Being a cave-dwelling creature, Thane's physiology is simply not adapted to deal with sunlight. He is prone to nasty sunburns if out in the light for too long, and has incredibly sensitive eyes.
Other:
A pair of dully glowing red eyes flashed in the otherwise pitch-black cave. The Vampire Rune's large ears twitched, picking up the faint rustle of air coming from tiny wings, and quick as lightning, the small dragon darted towards the sound. Before the source of sound could react, the Rune had seized the small bat in its talons, and immediately sank his fangs into the creature's back, eagerly lapping up the blood from the wound before giving in to his hunger and just swallowing the thing whole.
He'd been stuck in these caverns far too long, this bat was the first piece of prey he had caught in... he didn't even know how long. There was no time in the deep caves, no light, no stir of wind or sound of rain. Only endless blackness, and an oppressive silence only occasionally broken by the drip of far-off water... or, like a moment ago, the stirring of some poor animal that grew lost and wound up in the underground maze.
The Vampire Rune felt his stomach rumble again, the bat had only made his appetite worse. He'd been living off of the tiny blind fish in a nearby pond, a dozen of which barely half-filled his mouth. The occasional insect provided a once-pleasant treat, though now, they only made him feel ill. And now, this was... meat, real meat and blood and warmth! The Rune screeched out in frustration, his long ears flattening against his head as the sound echoed off of the cold rock walls. That had been... very, very stupid. He was getting weak, but what could he do? He'd fallen into this place some time ago, and no matter how he tried, he'd never been able to find a way out. He was almost afraid (how it repulsed him to apply that word to himself!) to try leaving, now that he had place that could somewhat sustain him. What if he grew lost, and couldn't find this place again? A clattering sound broke the Vampire rune's thoughts, and he whirled around to see what it was.
He immediately regretted the decision.
He turned away with another loud screech, his vision swimming with spots of color. What had that been? It was bright, brighter than anything had any right to be; and too colorful! The Rune bared his large teeth, cracking open one eye and trying to catch a look at... whatever it was. The only thing he could see was a shining magenta and yellow... blob, but as his vision adjusted, he could make out a few details. It appeared to be another Rune dragon- one with a faint magenta glow around its pink fur and feathers, with... what was with those eyes?! They appeared black, but at the same time shone with a bizarre yellow glow, same as the sun (figured it would be marked with a sun) markings on its wings.
It was a painfully glowing Rune... but it was a living creature, it was large, and he was starving. He growled softly, and keeping his eyes shut, pinpointed the Rune's movements by sound. He launched himself towards the other Rune, but heard a shriek of fear and found himself pinned down against the rocky floor.
"What do you think you're doing?!" the other Rune hissed. The Vampire Rune squirmed in protest, opening one eye to stare at his captor- and in the process, saw what was holding him down; a pair of translucent, dimly-glowing pink claws.
"Food!" was all he could say, snapping at the claws that held him, but it was like biting rock. He soon gave up, switching to his other eye to stare at the other Rune. It- she?- was staring at him with those strange eyes, her own teeth bared in warning.
"Food? You think me prey, you brute?!" she snapped.
The Vampire simply growled in response, but the claws held him fast while the female continued staring at him. She cocked her head to the side, shifting her wings as she spoke again.
"You look tiny," she commented.
Another growl.
"Have you been here long?"
"Yes," he hissed. "Very long. Little food."
The female nodded, turning her attention to a number of pink bubbles surrounding her body, which seemed to be showing... images of the cave?
"So you're lost?" she asked, keeping her gaze away from him.
"Took you that long to guess?"
"No need to be rude," the female said with a slight huff. "I was thinking about helping you out of here, you must be desperate if you attacked me. So. If you can be polite, I'll get you out of here, I'm sure you'll have much better hunting..."
The Vampire closed both eyes this time, growling softly. The offer was... tempting. "You can get out?" he asked, forcing himself to maintain a level tone.
The female chirped in reply, which he took to mean yes. The male Rune sighed, sweeping his furred tail back and forth. If she could get him out... well, then problem solved, he could hunt. And if she got them even more lost... well, he wouldn't be taken by surprise twice. And she had to sleep sometime.
The Vampire rune finally nodded, letting out a soft breath. "Then I will join you."
He opened his eyes in shock when he felt a constricting sensation around his body, and he found himself surrounded by that strange pink matter, being suspended not too far from the female.
"Good!" she said, looking at the image-bubbles again before setting off. "Sorry about the confine by the way, but... well, can't be too careful, can we?" she twittered.
The Vampire Rune squeezed his eyes shut, nearly biting his tongue. This was going to be a long trip out of the caves...
(... If I get him, he and Ori are going to have a very strong love/hate relationship, because... glowing Rune with sun markings plus vampire equals hilarity. So I just ran with what their first meeting might have been like)
