More than 50% average of cats in shelters, left unadopted are black cats.
People don't look at them and think directly, "Oh, it's a black cat, I shouldn't adopt it." They just have it lingering in the back of their heads, like an instinct.
I see this as a form of animal cruelty, sort of.
Adopt a black cat, for they are out there, waiting, maybe have been for years, while that cute calico kitten just came in the other day. The kitten will probably get adopted soon anyway, but this poor old black cat may sit for ages, watching hopefully as people walk by and some stare into his cage, some glance at him then walk by, some glare at him, and some simply ignore this poor, misunderstood cat, who is only defined by his coat color by most people.
There's a reason slavery ended: We realized that it was wrong to torture people of a different color. So now we torture a different species and color? Insane. Simply Insane.
Post this to your signature and comment if you agree. I might start making black cat adoptables with a little more flair, but not using this lineart, for it is not owned by me.
