Spotted Mountain Cat
Hello and welcome to the rough terrain where these magnificent cats roam, in the upper regions of a mountain range that was was once known to humans as the Rocky Mountains. A place in the united states that was once so full of life, is now barely getting back on it's feet after what the humans have done to it. Now that they are gone, nothing can stop nature from reclaiming what it rightfully owns.
The Spotted Mountain cat is unlike most species of other large cats as they tend to stick in large groups called clans and have developed an organized way of life, complete with a social hierarchy within their society. They are very protective of each other and are one of the many species that have developed increased intellectual ability since the Great extinction, when the humans wiped themselves off the face of the planet, allowing the creatures to evolve without the threat of man's pollution, guns, and continuous murder of the natural world.
Physical Appearance
The Spotted mountain Cat is a sturdy animal, medium in size and extremely well-muscled. Their general frame is built for climbing in high altitudes, They are longer then they are tall and have short, thick legs that allow them to climb with ease through mountains they live in. Their paws are large, being able to work like snowshoes during the winter months and keep balance, and the paw pads rough to withstand both the freezing ice of winter and the rough rock of their home.
The Spotted Mountain Cat has a thick, rounded skull with similarly rounded features. The cats eyes are large and round to see clearly during night or day, and can catch movement as well as a bird of prey, relying more on sight then scent when hunting. The mountain cat's ears are large, pointed, wide and tufted at the end, perfect for hearing whatever may echo through the Clans territory and to watch from danger, the fur at the tip helps keep their ears warm.
The spotted Mountain Cat's fur is thick, long, and heavy during the winter months and very weather resistant, allowing them to tolerate freezing temperatures and winds that most other creatures couldn't. In the spring it sheds, becoming lighter, but is still very thick because it is colder in the mountains year-round then it would be in the valley's and plains that surround it. The cubs are born with soft, fluffy fur and rely on their parents for warmth, as the cats have no specific breeding season and can have cubs any time of the year. The cubs are born with a soft mane down their backs that soon fades away, similar to a cheetah cub.
Their fur always have spots on them, they can be different shapes, sizes, and colors and the spots do not have to cover the entire body but they must be there, It is extremely rare if they do not develop spots by the time they are a year old, however, cubs are born without spots and usually have a dull gray coat that they grow out quickly.
The spotted mountain cat has a varying range of colors and patterns, and unnatural colors are not uncommon, though naturally colored cats are seen just as often.
