The title refers to Glamor, a technique that keeps a Fae's true identity hidden normal mortals
and because I sometimes connect Faes as superstitions
and yes, by Fae I mean fairy. Just the Celtic version
So now to the plot line!
plot wrote:Shawn has lived under the influence of her superstitious mom and her obsession with fairies and the woods in the backyard of their house for her whole life. She has never really believed it and one day, after a big argument. She decides to test the fates.
That's when she realizes that her mom was right, both about the existence and the cruel nature of fairies, or, as her mom calls them, Fae. But soon Shawn finds herself questioning everything she has been taught as she meets a Fae who is the complete opposite of all those around him.
There are a few things that I will mention that some people may not understand. So here I will define a few of them. If you have a question then just ask. if it will not be mentioned later then I will probably answer it. Notice that I am adding my own twisted version to Celtic mythology, so please don't stab me if I don't play by the book.
Fae:
A Celtic version of a fairy. They are tall and humanoid. they always have something in nature that they shape shift in. They are often mistaken as nymphs, dyrads, or shapeshifters. They often have translucent wings and make a habit of confusing people and leading them to their deaths.
Fae weaknesses:
Iron: iron will cause Faes to burn if they touch or go too close to it. Steel or stainless steel has a heck of alot of iron in it. (so you can kill a Fae with a spoon)
The color red: Red often repels Faes and by wearing red, they will most likely ignore you
Wearing clothing inside out: Has the same effect as the color red.
Rowan: A plant used to repel Faes. Some mixtures of herbs have the same effect.
Changeling:
When a Fae is born who is sick or crippled, they are usually switched out with a human child the same age. The human child is sometimes used as an replacement, a servant or is used for some cruel amusement. The human families usually never notice the change because of Glamour. Yet The changeling never forgets.
Glamour:
Glamour is the technique in which a Fae can change their appearance so that they look more human. A human may not see past it unless given special permission.
