Description:
Unbeknownst to humans, in deep, unexplored jungles of the world dwells an alien species called Eletoos. They are merely rumored among people, simple superstitions to most. But they are all too real. Eletoos reside in the deep ,moist jungles around the globe. Though they can be found elsewhere, it is extremely rare. They prefer the dense forests, the various water sources, and the diverse spread of prey.
Eletoos prefer to dine on small game and fish, but have been known to take down larger prey using pack like tactics to take them down. Eletoos range in size from the size of a fox, to the size of a bear( height wise, about 2'-5' , Legnth wise they are only about the size of a hyena) and their size depends on their age.
While Male Eletoos are commonly rogue,females and young are very social creatures. Eletoos survive in groups called Troops. A troop of Eletoos can contain up to eight Eletoos, any more than that is extremely rare. Once young Male Eletoos come of age they are exiled from their troop to either start their own, or remain a rogue. While some troops have a Lead male (normally a much older, wiser, and stronger Eletoo) , each troop's social rules vary. Some males may allow other young male Eletoos to remain in a troop, other's have been known to eliminate the threat of a challenge before the Male has reached its adolescent year mark. (Not all troops have a lead male! Some troops only permit males around when their breeding season comes .)
Eletoos are extremely territorial. When and if an issue occurs, the fight that follows is rather frightening. Eletoos are equipped with long, sharp claws, and prehensile tails that can be used similar to whips. Their tails may also be used to constrict small prey, or to link with another Eletoo's tail. This procedure is common in very young Eletoos.
The Eletoos are equipped with a short, hollow tongue that can launch acidic slime at its opponents. This is also its main hunting technique. The slime can cause paralysis, blindness, and can even be fatal depending on its use. Fights among Eletoos are not common, but do occur. They can occur over various things , such as: Territory, Challenges between males, Food, defending young, and things of the sort.
Eletoos can live to be hundreds of years old. This is because Eletoos have extremely strong immune systems,and rarely get sick. And with no natural predators, they have very little threats in life. Eletoos communicate with clicks, chitters, whistles, and hoots. If they become angered they emit a sound similar to a vixen scream. Due to their Massive weights (They may only be the size of animals listed above, they are extremely heavy. Weighing anywhere from 180 lbs - 340 lbs.)Should an Eletoo collide with another, the resulting sound is similar to thunder.
Eletoos have natural coloring, but can mimic other species' colors. this is what makes them so elusive. Though they never truly resemble the creature they mimic, they are well enough off at camouflage and other defenses, they don't need to be an exact replica of said creatures. Every Eletoo will have stripes (the more stripes, the older the Eletoo) though on rare occasions an Eletoo will only have a few. Male Eletoos have unnatural colored stripes and markings. Females have natural colored stripes,but their "markings" are unnatural. It is rare that a female has unnatural stripes, but it has happened. Their "Marking" Appears when just before they come of age. It is rare for a youngling to have these markings! Their Markings are determined by some awesome action they perform within their life span up to that point. Some have more markings than others, some get theirs later in life. These markings also aid in determining their rank in a troop.
Both genders have a ridge of fur along their spine, continuing to the base of their tails. When angered, this ridge will stand at end, making them appear larger and frightening. Eletoos breed once every three years. Eletoo offspring are born in an egg, which the parents keep incubated in nestlike structures for about two weeks. Their eggs are more often than not iridescent. It it very rare that an egg will be pale and uncolored. Though that does occur on occasion. They can lay up to four eggs, though it is common that only one will survive, at most two. No documented records have shown any more than two surviving a litter. An Eletoo's year is the equivalent to 8 human years.
