Oh hello there~
I'm the creator and owner of the Crown Kirin specie, you may call me Reiki or Rei and I'm a swedish girl at the age of 21.
Been around on the site since 2008 but have been inactive most of the time, it's not until this last year that I've gotten a bigger interest and having fun around here.
I'm actually a rather shy person and can have a hard time taking the first step when taking contact with people, have been diagnosed with social phobia and went to see a psychologist for it. But I promise you that I'm really nice once you get to know me because I actually like gaining new friends and have people to talk to, it's just difficult for me to make myself heard sometimes, often believe I'm bothering people.. ´.u.`
Anyway, I love drawing and use a Wacom Bamboo Pen tablet along with Paint Tool SAI and Photoshop CS5 Extended.
Aside from that I love music, movies of all kinds, photographing and tv-shows like Supernatural, Sherlock, The Walking Dead and Game Of Thrones.

.: The Crown Kirin :.

Physical.
The Crown Kirin is middle sized creature, where females are around 11-13hh and males 12-15hh at withers.
They have a rather short face with a smal nose, it's not built to pick up scents at a distance, their jaws are strong so they can crush roots and nuts which they often favor when it comes to eating. Ears are medium sized and can easily pick up sounds far away, sensitive for loud noises and their eyes are large with a horisontal pupil for a wide view, very smal blindspot both backwards and forward.
They have strong neck and very deep chest to hold their big heart and lungs, their legs are thick and strong-boned, the backside of the lower part of the legs have long feathering and they have three hoof-like toes on each foot for better grip when climbing or running.
The Kirin have a slightly arched back and ruffly hind, their tail is long with a big bushy end; used for balance when running or climbing.
Males have a beard underneath their chin and four horns growing from the back of their head. Two of them are long while the lower ones are shorter, while they are thin in relation to their body mass the horns are almost impossible to break off. These are used to display dominance, fight over territory or defend themselves or others from predators.
Their fur can come in all sorts of colors, often with dark points around face, neck and legs, not unusual to see white markings.
Male: bull, female: cow, child: calf.

Behavior.
The Crown Kirin is a herd animal, they live in herds with around 10-20 animals where there's a leader male, females and their calfs and non-dominant males. They mainly live on large grass areas but it's not unusual to find them in forests with more terrain.
People believe they originally come from Scotland or Ireland.
They spend a lot of time moving from grazing area to grazing area, they prefer fresh grass, roots, nuts and flower buds, during winter they keep to eating roots, nuts and tree bark. They don't drink very often, a lot of the water they take up comes from the food they're eating.
The Kirins can get up to a 100 years old, they mature around 5 years of age.
To communicate they mainly use body language, but it's been documented that they also use chitters, grunts and Elk-like calls, the last one is mainly used to communicate at distance or to attract cows during mating season.
During mating season herds can be seen mingling together, the females stay together while the males select a part of the grounds as a territory and try to attract females by calling, showing off their strength against other males or by excessively marking their spot by digging and rolling in it. Their scent becomes very strong around this time of the year just for the purpose to attract females.
They don't often take mates, their priority is simply just to pass on their genes. But it have been noted that males or females have favored others and stick around them like a shadow.

As you can see, the club is starting to take shape as info is being added, hopefully this thread will encourage CK owners and non-owners to mingle and share thoughts, ideas, art and everything in between.
I'm still working on finishing this up but it should be done by tomorrow or the day after that.
