What do you guys use for a ritual altar? I can't really set up a permenant one for another seven months or so, but I would like to have something for rituals that I can set up on a needed basis. I'm thinking about using a typewriter case, but that seems sort of disrepectful, not to mention I'm worried about it's sturdiness. Opinions?

When I did practice the faith-- I had a mobile setup that I would place on the fireplace. Mostly everything was either disposable afterward or would easier be hidden somewhere else when it was in use.

I would like to ask one thing today.I want to do a simple spell/chant that even a wiccan in training (like me) can do.I do have candles or herbs.So any ideas or is it not a good idea for me to do a spell/chant right now?

Hmm, I'm in training as well, but I do few spells as advised by my mum and her Wiccan friend. The only spell-type thing I've done is look for my totem animal in the spirit world using a meditation soundtrack/video.

I did find a what I think is a simple chant to make your hair grow a while back and wanted to try it.But I didn't want to do if it wasn't ok I really don't want to anger anyone if I did.

Hmm, I wouldn't know. I haven't done any major spells as I don't think I'm up to it ATM. I would need to concentrate, and I can't do that whilst I have a cold.

Usually the first spells a beginner can do with success are channeling spells, it helps to get used to the energy you're going to be using regularly when you start. Rather than just diving into an overpowering situation and hurt yourself.

Channeling varies greatly, it all depends on how you do it. Sometimes it's intense meditation, other times it pushes that boundary between the physical and non-physical a bit.

It's calling on power that isn't naturally yours, mixing it with your own and tying yourself to it.

Thank you sooo much for helping me with this stuff. I will stop asking questions once I can get to a bookstore.

(Just a side note. I was looking up the prices for "Solitary Wicca for Life" and I found another book that could be useful. It's called "Encyclopedia of Wicca and Witchcraft". It has a LOT of stuff in it. It's more expensive, but I think it would be a great help. )
