"Time together isn't ever quite enough
When you and I are alone, I've never felt so at home
What will it take to make or break this hint of love?
Only time, only time

When we're apart whatever are you thinking of?
If this is what I call home, why does it feel so alone?
So tell me darling, do you wish we'd fall in love?
All the time, all the time"

I love how everyone is using lyrics from Owl City songs. I love that band :3

; Move him into the sun -
Gently its touch awoke him once,

They called it the Great War. I think it was something to do with the scale of it- but great? What gritty euphemism is that? What can describe the terror, the horror? Horses, men, women, buildings- innocent beings torn down in a swirling void of explosions and screaming. Does it describe the sheer agony of death? The torment, anguish, despair of losing someone you loved? I ask you, what could be great about that?

I have no name. I am every man that died on the battlefield during the War. My story is every one of theirs, but different. We are the same, all of us. We are nothing but the same.

At home, whispering of fields unsown.
Always it woke him, even in France,

¦ DECEMBER 29th, 1914 ¦

"Gonna be a good day today John, my can feel it in my bones." Jack grinned at me, wheeling the cart up the tufted hillock, ignoring it as it creaked in protest. I walked alongside him, inhaling the sweet country air. The hay had been gathered for the winter, and the chilly breeze blew fragments of it, twirling it like solid sunbeams through the crisp morning light. My boots crunched on the ground.

There's a war going on. No-one seems worried, after all, it's the big cities that fight- not us. Not little villages that do no harm. I see it on the creased newspapers that blow into town every week or so, bold headlines. I think to myself; Not me. I could never.

"What makes you so sure?" I ask, but I am only teasing him. It's Jack's endless optimism that keeps me smiling. He turns to me, his dark hair falling across his face. "Well, what's not to like?" There's a moment of friendly silence between us, just the thudding of our shoes and Jack's heavier breathing. I gaze across at the rolling hills, the thick forests dotted around like chess pieces on a board. It occurs to me that maybe, maybe Jack is right.

We reach our little village, and I help him haul the grain from the cart.

I have three months left.

Until this morning and this snow.
If anything might rouse him now
The kind old sun will know.

¦ FEBRUARY 3rd, 1915 ¦

Irony. The expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect. The definition burns in my mind as my feet leave my heart behind. I am walking through one door I swore I wouldn't.

I'm signing up.

I never thought I'd join the army. Never thought I'd fight in a war that wasn't mine. I never even thought I'd learn to wield a gun. I left Jack behind. He said he wouldn't come with me, he wouldn't go to the frontline just to die in the mud. It's a strange feeling, I'm calm- my nerves are back in that village, and I feel changed. It almost seems like a good idea.

Strangers flocked in to my village a week ago. Said they were looking for 'nice strong lads to fight for their country'- the way they described it, it sounded good. And here I am.

The recruitment officer shakes my hand. He has sad eyes.

"Sit down, lad." He says softly, handing me my freshly ironed uniform.

I have one month left.

Think how it wakes the seeds, -
Woke, once, the clays of a cold star.

¦ MARCH 10th, 1915 ¦

I've been having nightmares. Terrible ones. I wake sweating, but can't cry out for fear of waking the other men that sleep in cots around me.

I'm in France. There's something I never thought I'd say- up 'til a fortnight ago, I didn't even know what France was. But I'm here. I'm fighting. I can use a gun, that's something. Ten boys were killed yesterday, camp's quiet. If all the words in the world were laid out in front of me, not one of them could describe the horror my eyes have seen. No briefing, no reading, nothing can prepare you for the moment you are running for your life- the moment the air is so thick with smoke you cannot see where you are going, and the endless sound of people crying is the only thing you can hear.

Jack was always the braver one. I'm sure he'd be able to deal with this. He wouldn't cry every night, muffled into the poor excuse for a pillow.

I'm scared. I'm really scared.

I have two weeks left.

Are limbs, so dear-achieved, are sides,
Full-nerved, - still warm, - too hard to stir?

¦ MARCH 31st, 1915 ¦

There is screaming. Burning. Something stings my eyes, and I can't see. Sharpened reflexes have my body up and out of bed before I can process what I'm doing. All around me, people are running- guns slung over their backs, shouting commands over the whistling of the bullets.

It's utter chaos. Fire seems to fall from the sky, burning against the night like the fireworks we used to have in the village. I fumble for my bayonet, and stagger from the tent- my mind groggy and muted.

What is happening?

Who am I?

I am John Doe, and I am sixteen years old.

I hear a violent 'crack' through my haze, then nothing.

My time is up.

Was it for this the clay grew tall?
- O what made fatuous sunbeams toil
To break earth's sleep at all? ;

I'm sorry, Jack. I'm sorry I left you. It was a lie- all of it. They told me;

" Dulce et decorum est, pro patria mori"
'it is sweet and right to die for your country'

As I lie here, I ponder this. I think they were wrong, Jack. But it matters not. I am at peace.

[[why am I crying darnit ;_; I didn't think I'd get so emotional over writing..But here's the story for these two, as promised. Hope you guys like it, it's certainly hits something personal with me <3

Mikaela looked up to her slightly older sister. Carina grinning a big as she saw this look in the eyes of Mikaela. This look … It radiates a strange feeling in her body. She couldn't explain this feeling. “What are you thinking, Mikaela?“ asked the beautiful animal the young girl and looked briefly down to the ground, where she looked at a stone. “I don't know“ Mikaela answered “but there is something out there which could be a huge problem for us two, Carina.“ Carina nods slowly and looked up to her sister. “Maybe it's just a stupid feeling that leads you in danger again, sis. Come, our parent are probably worried about us.“ Mikaela sighed softly, before she got up and went with her older sister to their parents.

“I hope you brings good news?“ asked the dark animal with his deep voice and in the darkness there were showed deep red eyes. With their tail between its legs the two twins looked down and swallowed hard. Deep breathing, the left one, John, word out of his mouth:“Yes, Shadow. We have found two females that may be well of your benefit.“ Shadow laughed dark and his long teeth grazed the head of the young male. “Very good, John“ whispered the dragon dog and looked at the twin brother of John. “Have you brought me some news, Edward?“ Edward swallowed hard. “Yes, Master. The two girls also come from a noble family. That is, if I can seduce with John the two girls, then it is easy to bring them here“ Edward said in a low tone and looked at Shadow. He laughs. “Very good, Edward. This is a good plan. Well, then gets me, the two …“ With these words, Shadow disappeared in the darkness and the twins were on their way to the noble family.

I know- it's a real trend on this thread! Love that- not only are the lyrics beautiful, but it makes me hear the tune in my head!

ImageImage
The Sky ..... Beyond That

Remember to live, 'cause you're gonna be thrilled to death, When the stars collide and your eyes grow wide...
When the sparks erupt and they light you up... Take it in with your breath against the glass.

Remember to dream because it's gonna be a starry night Over every town, if you look down...
I'm drowning in this starry serenade... Give the outer limits my regards as you float to fly away...

Mishmash of lyrics from "Aligator Sky", bonus track version. Totally mixed up the order to fit the pets...
I picture The Sky having a sort of awestruck wonder at what is Beyond, and then Beyond That looking down at The Sky and marvelling over how beautiful the veiw is from up here.

Image------------------Image
Nether-------------------------------------------------Blossom

I wish I could cross my arms
And cross your mind 'cause I believe
You'd unfold your paper heart
And wear it on your sleeve

All my life I wish I broke mirrors
Instead of promises
'Cause all I see is a shattered conscience
Staring right back at me

I wish I had covered all my tracks completely
'Cause I'm so afraid
Is that the light at the far end of the tunnel
Or just the train?

Lift your arms, only Heaven knows
Where the danger grows and it's safe to say
There's a bright light up ahead
And help is on the way, help is on the way

I forget the last time I felt brave
I just recall insecurity
'Cause it came down like a tidal wave
And sorrow swept over me

Depression, please cut to the chase
And cut a long story short
Oh, please be done, how much longer
Can this drama afford to run?

Fate looks sharp, severs all my ties
And breaks whatever doesn't bend
But sadly then, all my heavy hopes
Just pull me back down again

I forget the last time I felt brave
I just recall insecurity
'Cause it came down like a tidal wave
And sorrow swept over me

Then I was given grace and love
I was blind but now I can see
'Cause I found a new hope from above
And courage swept over me

It hurts just to wake up
Whenever you're wearing thin
Alone on the outside
So tired of looking in

The end is uncertain
And I've never been so afraid
But I don't need a telescope
To see that there's hope
And that makes me feel brave

Tidal Wave, by Owl City ^^ If they sang it, Blossom would sing everything in italics, and Nether would sing everything else.

"But..."

Story?

((After a whopping [2] requests, (In witch is enough for me,) I decided to write a story about these two :3))

"Shay, you've been living so closed up--so quiet & and shy....you need to get out and play with the other kids'....how 'bout that new boy down the street?"
"But....daddy...he looks--scary" The pup whispered the last part, looking around as if there was a ghost--or worse....Suko.
"What seems so scary about him?"
"He's got....scars!" She whispered again, looking over his shoulder and at his house out of the window.
The troubled father sighed "Maybe you should get to know him--don't judge a boo--"
"I know, I know don't judge a book by it's cover..." she mumbled, as if she'd heard it a billion times, she had in fact.
"Good to bed, sweety" The father said, kissing her quickly on the head, and walking into the next room. Shay sighed, and turned her head as if she were looking at her paws. "Goodnight, daddy" she said quietly and went into her bed, jumping in and curling up at her young masters side.

When the sun came up, she stirred a bit and then stretched, yawning and then jumped off of her young masters bed [who had already gone to whatever the humans call School.). She flicked her tail and trotted out of the room, listening to the quiet thump, thump, thump of her foot steps. "Hi, love!" Mommy said, trotting out of her and the older masters bedroom. "Your father set up a play date for you and that new pup, Suko." she said, and licking her forehead. Shay almost tripped over air, but tried not to show her nervousness. "When, mommy?" she asked, in-contently. "In about 30 minutes--get ready" The clueless mother smiled, licking her forehead once more, before going to her water bole and lapping up some water. Shay almost ran into her room, but managed a casual "jog". She jumped onto her young masters bed and thought for a moment. *What will he think of me?* she thought, panicking *What will I think of him? Will he be a scary monster--will he be what the other pups say he is??* What felt like about 30 seconds, 30 minutes past, and her mother came in, panting happily. "Time to go, sweety!" she barked, nudging her out of bed. "Okay..:" she muttered, and trotted out the door "You know where to go, good luck and have fun, hun...be back by dinner!" she called, as Shay trotted hesitantly out her yard and down the street. Once she reached the wucked looking house, 101 Maplehill dr., she shivered. As she tapped her paw on the door, a young master--like the one she lives with came to the door. "Hey, dad I think Suko's friend is here to play"

Suko lifted his head from his paws. *Friends?* he thought, puzzled, then remembered, he had a date with that blind girl--Shay . He muttered something and pulled himself off of the cement floor, and trotted to the door. He looked at his young master, saying "Blah, blah, blah, dad, blah blah blah, Suko" He sighed, then took a look at Shay. He stood there dumb founded for a moment. "Woah..." he said, amazed at her eyes and coloring of her pelt. He snapped out of it quickly, and then looked with no expression on his face, to Shay.

"Hi!" Said Shay, trying to be friendly as possible. "Hey, ah..."" Suko started "Let's go into the back yard....c'mon" He said, leading her around the house and into their yard. "Hm.....nice yard!" she said cheerfully, forgetting about her fear of him."So....your Shay...The blind girl....how'd you get like that?" he asked, sitting on his rump. His voice was a quiet, smooth one. "I was born like this!" she said proudly, not wanting to ask about his scars. She shook the thought of them out her head and then said, "How 'bout a game of tag?" she bowed down, grinning with her sharp white teeth showing. "...tag?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "You don't know what tag is? Well, it's fun! One of us is It and the other one runs from It and then if itcatches the other person, then they become it" she announced, "So, you wanna play?" not waiting for an answer she said, "Your it!!" and bounded off. Suko looked puzzled for a moment but then ran after her, not wanting to look foolish. He soon caught up to her and tackled her, "Your it!" he said, wagging his tail with his tong lolling out his mouth. She tossed him off then ran after him. They ran down a steep hill, until Shay tripped, and tumbled down "Wo-o-o-o-o-a-h-h-h-h!" she screamed, then landed on Suko. "Shay! Are you okay?" he asked, nudging her up. "Yea...." she said, twisting her paw around a few times. She looked up into his purple eyes. "Thanks for caring.."she said, quietly, shaking her pelt and trotted up the hill, a small limp in her step. "Hey...you sure? You gotta limp.." "Yes, I'm fine.." she answered, not turning around. "Maybe I just need some rest" she added, when they got to the top she lay down on a rock. "What's it like being blind?" Suko asked. Shay shrugged. "Just like the whole world is lit up--" "Lit up..?" Suko said, surprised. "Yea.." she said, a bit lost in thought. "It's like you can see something nothing but the blind can," she trailed off. Suko decided to drop the topic. "So...what's your favorite color?" he asked, "Silver" she replied. "Yours?" "Maroon.." he answered. "Cool" she nodded, rather awkwardly. "Where'ed you move from?" she asked, "Missouri" "Cool, I've always wanted to live there..." she said, wondering what it'd be like. Then out of the blue, she said,

"Suko..."
"Yes?"
"Now that I've gotten to know you better, and you don't seem so scary...why do you have so many scars?"
"Why are you blind?"
"B-...well, I was born this way...remember...?"
"Exactly."
"But..."

I'll finish up tomorrow

<3 cant wait for the rest

Well, here it is! (Some of it at least..I lied about finishing the whole thing.....ha)

There was a long silence again. "So....what now?" Shay asked. Suko's head shot up. "Run." he said, looked straight at her. "Wha-" "Run! Now." he barked, nudging her firmly on the shoulder. She almost stumbled off the rock "Suko....I'm sca--" "Run!! Now! Before he com--" he was cut off by a deep and rather scary voice. "But i'm already here..." Shay looked up to see an evil grin, filled with razor sharp fangs that could kill her in a second. She gulped. "H-hi...mister.." she uttered. She backed up a bit. "Whats....that?" he growled through clenched teeth. Suko shuttered. "Sh-she's my friend, Shay..." he stuttered. "And it's here....without my permission....?" he growled, stepping closer, and Suko backed up, whacking Shay with his tail, ordering her to go. Shay backed up more, and then darted off. She didn't want to leave Suko alone with that dog--but she got scared easily. Maybe too easily for her sake. Or Suko's...

"Mom planned it....her dad wanted us to hang out..." he said in a weak voice. The big dog laughed and swatted him across the face. "Go get your girlfriend.." he barked cruelly and Suko ran off, a view drops of blood dripped from his fur to the ground. He ran after Shay, not looking back. "Shay!" He barked, finally catching up. Shay stopped short. "Suko!" she yelped, smelling the blood on him. "C'mon, to my house!" she said, quickly leading him to her house, then going into the doggie-door. Suko followed, wanting to be polite though he had gotten much worse, and this didn't compare to one single one of his scars. "I'm fine, really.." he said when he sat down. He looked at her eyes curiously. "So pretty.." he said, in a bit of a trance. "What?" she asked, cocking her head to the side. "Oh! Nothing!". She nodded slowly--hesitantly. "Oh..shoot! My parents...come around into the wood with me.." she said, going back out the door at a quick trot. She went into the backyard, then in the wood. She then hopped o na rock at the edge of the border. He jumped on the rock across from it. "You don't like you parents?" he asked, curiously. "Not really....they are annoying and think I'm anti social....it's just cause' the other wolves tease me...." her voice softened at the last part. "They shouldn't--your special...much more special than all of them combined....and me..." he said, looking at his paws. He hadn't felt this way towards almost anyone except maybe his master. "R-really?" she asked, at first speechless. "No ones ever said that to me..." she said quietly. "Thanks..." "No problem" he grinned. "Suko...." she started. "Is that dog back there--how you got your scars...?" she asked. Suko sighed. "I-i gotta go..." he said, hopping off the rock, and starting off. "No, Suko wait..." she said, jumping off after him, but he was already down the street. She sighed, and plopped down. "Bye..." she said softly, and closed her eyes, falling asleep peacully.

To break earth's sleep at all? ;

I'm sorry, Jack. I'm sorry I left you. It was a lie- all of it. They told me;

Hope you guys like it, it's certainly hits something personal with me <3
edit; made a few little edits here and there ^-^

It's a gorgeous story, and I was going to comment on the one you posted before, but I had to go. XD Don't cry!

Have you ever read the poem Dulce et Decorum Est? It's a wonderful poem, and it's all I thought of when reading that quote.
