Gordy has a massive cut on his front leg - his ankle and knee are all swollen and pus is coming out... I guess there won't be a ride with my friend on Saturday. D:
The vet's coming out tomorrow. Hopefully he will get a tetanus shot and some antibiotics - I bathed it with water & a sponge as much as he'd let me and put Betadine on. Hopefully he gets better soon.. /:
Seeking C$ and WL pets always <3 Feel free to make an offer on any of my open groups or items

Cotton is so happy in his new home! I got on him for the first time in his new home, and he was wonderful! He stood very well while we saddled him, and I rode him and he was very good. A bit testy, but only because I'm new and he wants to see what he can get away with. Me and sam sam rode him around in my round pen.
He loves out baby cows, it's so cute how he tries to play with him ^v^
He is very curious and alert, I have noticed that.

Hey, all! Just got back from Wales last night, after five days of typical, unpredictable weather. ;)
On Sunday my mum, her cousin, her cousin's daughter and I went for a hack at St Davids Trekking Centre and had soo much fun! It was an hours ride through the farm land and then down past the chapel (or church... well, big old building. xD) on some gorgeous Gypsy horses.
Mine was called Fred, and he was a little grumpy thing. We had to go at the back, because he kicks, and the intructor and her horse behind us kept their distance most of the time. Though Fred did stop and clamp his ears back a few times, I just kicked him on and kept him going.
In order on the hack:
Instructor + Merlin- a grey ex-police horse of a cobby type and the gentlest horse ever. The instructor was turned around talking, no hold on the reins for quite a large part of the ride and he just followed the path.
Some dude + Something beginning with 'P'- the guy had his legs so far forward, it was like he was in an armchair. :/
The dude's son + Porthos- the poor kid was too scared to stop Porthos from eating, so we had to keep waiting for him to sort himself out. Both instructors were telling him to shorten his reins, but he wouldn't and had them practically at the buckle.
My mum's cousin + Arizona- a lovely palomino and white, absolutely massive though. He was like Merlin in temperament; solid as a rock, in both body and mind.
My mum + Texas- Ari's buddy; they're on a permanent loan from the same place and best of friends. He's black and white with adorable small circles of colour ringed in grey next to his patches.
My mum's cousin's daughter + Uther- he had such a long mane and tail and so wavey, too!
Me + Fred- he's a lovely little pony (actually, more like a horse, but he's so much smaller than Ari, or even Uther, that he seemed tiny) and very responsive, considering they're only used for trekking stuff.
Other instructor + Ronaldo- a pretty chestnut and white, who seemed a little nervy about heading to the front to open a gate and generally a little green; perhaps a youngster they're starting off?
All were geldings, and when they refer to the other horses used for hacks, they're spoken of as "the trekking boys", so I think the only mares on the property are in their breeding herds. And they've got a LOT of horses there, but all in good condition.
We were supposed to be trotting, too, but we think that the boy being scared stopped us from doing so. Despite that, it was a fun and enjoyable ride, in suprisingly comfy treeless saddles. I found it much easier to swing my leg over to dismount from them, than the usual English saddle.
Yesteday we went to the Pembrokeshire County Show and watched all but three of the Arab classes, because we didn't get in quickly enough to see the mare and foal or stallions, or whatever the other one was. We did get to check out the yearling class, which only had two entries, but both were from the same stud/trainers, anyway. In the two year old class, there was only one, Elegance By Design. She was drop dead gorgeous. <3 I wanted to steal her.
After that was four year old and up under saddle, which was amazing to watch, and I correctly predicted the winner. xD He had huge presence, a floating, effortless stride and just had that "wow" factor, for me and the judges both. Second was a gorgeous liver chestnut, who I also predicted would place well; he was lovely, but his stride just didn't have the same power and extension.
For the overall Champion Arab, the stallion came first, then the winner from under saddle. I'm not sure where they placed, but the mare and foal were very chilled and pretty, I think the foal was starting to roan out to possibly grey from a bay. Or maybe just losing his fluffier coat for a slightly lighter shade.
All in all, a satisfyingly horsey holiday. ;3
I still can't wait to see Chester again on Saturday, though. <3

I hope Storm and Gordy are okay! :/
I jumped for the first time on Tuesday. Not purposely, though xD We went on a trail ride for my lesson, and my instructor forgot to warn me that Ripley likes to jump ditches until we were right in front of one. She tried getting me to slow her down, but we were over it before I could even tighten the reins xD

Hanoverian wrote:Heart: Awesome that you saved him! I'm not really sure how to get him less attached, though. Is is possible to take him to the college if they have a barn, or board him somewhere near there so you can visit? You could also try getting him a "pet" burro, goat, or mini.
Perhaps. I'm not sure how keen my mom would be if we were to purchase him a "pet" and then have him not want anything to do with it.
Thank you for the tips though. ^^
