PS Adoptables is a place where you can adopt, breed, and order customized
adoptables known as Pixel Squiks, Pixel Squirrels, Pixel Squittens, and Pixel
Squinx. Though the Squirrels have been around since 2013, Squiks, Squittens, and
Squinx are new additions to the island's inhabitants that can now be adopted as well.

In this our latest revival of PS Adoptables, some changes have been made to how
we run things. With mine and my staff's busy schedules, our goal is to provide
quality adopts over quantity. That might mean a less active thread, but I hope
you all still pop by occasionally to see what we have in store. ♥

The Pixel Squik is a newly discovered species on Pixel Island.
These creatures are cat-sized and very peculiar; possessing
short limbs and bulky bodies, they are terrible sprinters and
can manage only a trot at fastest. Squiks of any gender are
likely to have ivory horns, though they appear more for
attracting mates than self defense.

Since Squiks were brought to the main land, they have
vastly taken over the spotlight as most popular pet -- a title
originally belonging to that of the Pixel Squirrel. But not a
lot more is known about the species, and taming one up for
adoption is bound to be a challenge. Will you try your hand
at adopting a Squik?

The Pixel Squitten is a feline-like species that inhabits
Pixel Island. These cat-like animals are omnivorous with a
preference for greenery and bugs, and spend a large portion
of their day hunting in the undergrowth. Their wings serve
little to no known purpose, being incapable of flight.

Squittens are a compact animal that can weigh anywhere
from twenty to thirty pounds. Despite their size, they are
incredibly timid and prone to hiding. They have also been
known to change their hunting territories and sleeping
habits to avoid human interaction. But in recent days, it
seems a few have decided to give people a chance, and
have left Pixel Island to be adopted.

The infamous Pixel Squirrel was originally the only species of Pixel
Island that was commonly adopted as pets back on the main land.
These palm-sized animals whom lack hind legs make excellent and
very docile companions for those who wanted something easier to
manage than more traditional pets, such as dogs.

There are many different kinds of Pixel Squirrel, ranging from what
is known as the Simple breed, to ones such as the Lionhead, the
Winged, or even the tremendously fluffy Stray. You may even
encounter Squirrels with a mutation known as "BFL", which causes
them to stop growing. These Squirrels are barely the size of a
gerbil, though bare similar likenesses to the larger breeds.

The Pixel Squinx is the oldest species to ever be documented
living on Pixel Island. Built similarly to the lynx, a key trait that
sets them apart (apart from their much smaller size) are the
gemstones every Squinx carries. Much like otters and their
special rocks, the Squinx's gemstones hold major significance to
them as a species -- sometimes being passed down through the
generations, or presented as a gift to a mate. These omnivorous
felines used to be abundant on the surface; only somewhat
territorial, they had no natural predators, and lived in harmony
with the other island inhabitants. That is, until humans found the
island. Believing their lives to be at risk, the Squinx moved their
burrows underground; staying in the tunnels underneath Pixel
Island like the rabbits they hunted, and only emerging at night.

These Squinx became somewhat of a myth around the island, with
very few people having ever seen one. But after having their gem
quarry depleted by unknowing explorers, the Squinx returned to
the surface in search of help. Now it looks like they're here to stay.

Please follow our adoption guidelines:

- The form must be filled out entirely and correctly.
- First come, first serve basis unless stated otherwise.
- Erasing the code word from forms will render them invalid.
- Editing forms is allowed, just quote them and state what was changed.
- You may adopt one pet every 24 hours. This may be from the same or separate litters, so long as the timeframe has passed.

If you are worried about missing a litter, you can reserve an adopt from an upcoming one for 10 C$. All C$ from these reserves goes to the artist who created the litter. PM ▸Atlas. to see upcoming litters, and for more details. This option will not be available forever, and will be discontinued as the thread grows in popularity! c:

Please be aware that I may make exceptions for minor typos in forms -- such as a missing letter, all caps, all lowercase, etc.. This does not, however, mean I will let all form issues slide. In the end it is up to me which forms to accept, and I will not tolerate any arguing or debates over who-gets-what.

Welcome to the Park! We accept visitors at random every few weeks.
The gates are closed!

Located on the main land, far away from Pixel Island itself, is the Park. Designed to resemble the natural habitats of Squirrels, Squiks, and Squittens, the Park is a safe way to allow your pets to reconnect with their roots and get some exercise! The only problem is, with the Park's delicately crafted ecosystem, comes some... unwanted visitors. Known simply as Strays, these pets have been brought to the main land, but lack homes of their own. They're drawn in by the familiarity of the Park, scaring visitors and becoming territorial!

Most pet owners end up calling animal control to rid the Park of these pests. But that's no life for an animal to live, locked up in the Pound awaiting adoption. There's no rule about taking a Stray home if you find one... Perhaps, you'll make a different choice and adopt it yourself?

Bring your Squirrels, Squiks, Squittens, and Squinx to the Park for a chance to find potions, tokens, Credits, and even Strays!
If you find a Stray that you don't want, you can choose to send it to the Pound for others to adopt.

Rules
1.) You may bring up to two adopts at the same time.
2.) If you opt to send a Stray to the Pound, it will be open for anyone to claim.
3.) The Park will be closed during all special events, raffles, and promotions.
4.) Forms that violate rules, or that are posted when the Park is closed, will be denied.
5.) Items won't always be found while at the Park. Prizes will always be totally random.
6.) You are required to have at minimum one adopt to participate in the Park. You cannot use someone else's.
7.) You may post one form for every Park opening. Some Park results may require an additional response (ex; a choice like left, right, investigate, turn back, etc.).
8.) If you want a story response, as in a detailed summary of what your adopt did at the Park, provide the adopts' pronouns in the "other" section of the form. If you want a basic response, as in a simple "you found a prize"/"you found nothing", leave that section blank.

Q: Does bringing more than one pet increase the chances of winning prizes?
A: No, it does not. It is only for the fun of having your pets interact with one another.

Q: What are the chances of finding things at the Park?
A: A random generator is used to pick one outcome out of 25. 5 of those result in
Strays, 8 result in Credits, 5 result in items, and the remainder result in nothing.

Q: Why is the Park only open occasionally?
A: This allows the Park to have a much wider prize pool than originally, and it also
provides myself and artists more time to design Strays.

PS Hiring Event!

PS is currently looking to hire two artists, one guest artist, and one moderator!

Staff applications are not automatically accepted! People will be hired based on experience and qualifications in about a week

Moderator responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the management of events/games
- Helping to keep thread spam to a minimum
- Doing the occasional code drop
- Answering adopter questions
- You must be active on the thread with the minimum of 4 posts per
month to remain on staff

Thread Moderators will receive:
- Staff exclusive store prices
- A free custom every 6 months of employment
(You have the ability to design this custom personally,
should you choose)
- Half priced C$ Reserves for as long as the feature is available
- Exclusive looks at upcoming thread content, litters, and events
- 500 Credits every month as active staff

Artist responsibilities include:
- Submitting either 4 litters every month (minimum 3 pets per litter)
OR
submitting 12 individual Stray pets for the Park every month
(Or any combination thereof)
- Assisting in the creation of prizes for all events
- Remaining active in the PS community and taking all adopter
and staff feedback into account when creating adopts

Thread Artists will receive:
- Staff exclusive store prices
- A free custom every 6 months of employment
(You have the ability to design this custom personally,
should you choose)
- Half priced C$ Reserves for as long as the feature is available
- Exclusive looks at upcoming thread content, litters, and events
- You will receive the C$ from any reserves placed in litters you made
