I was walking through the dark forest, laughing my but off. My eerie laugh echoed in the tree-tops, causing birds to fly out of their roost, cawing. I laughed, manicaly. I was mad, yes, but... itsnt that what a mad scientist is supposed to be? Mad? My crazy laughs swirled around me. I had gone into these dark forests, because no sane person would go here. Not unless they wanted to die, from my strange creatures that I had cooked up. Also, I didn't want to pay fines that the stupid cops would have forced apon me, like they did to my wife.

" They caused her to leave me! " I roared suddenly, causing a rabbit to dart from its still form and fly like a bullet, ziggzagging away. I darted after it, hungry for blood. I panted as my protective rubber boots squeaked loudly in the still night air.

" Your mine... piggie! Stupid rabbit! Your mine.... " I came to a sudden stop as I saw a girl, no a young dog. She had ..... I forgot the words. I had been alone for so long. I turned towards her.

" WHO ARE YOU TO DARE ENTER MY FOREST!? " I screamed at her. Her eyes went wide in fear, and she took a step back.

" I... Im Z-zedrona.. s-sir. " She stammered. " I-I don't mean any harm. " She grew boulder and took a step closer.

" BACK! " I screeched, waving mt arms. She stumbled backwards and fell. I let her lie there until she relaized I wasn't going to help her.

I turned. " Follow me, I will give you food, water, and shelter for the night, then, you will leave and never return. Understood? " Before she could awnser, I inturrupted her again. " Good. Now, follow me please. "

I stalked through the woods, knowing my way around. I heard crashes and chuckled to myself. Sooo.... she dosen't know how to walk. Stupid!

I kept walking, till I heard her cry out. I whirled around, to see one of my pet inventions. I grinned.

" Ah.. yes. I see you have met one of my pets. This here, is Attack, Maim, and Kill. " I said, pointing out to each of the heads on my cerbus. " Lovley, aren't they? " I asked, exaiming my nails.

" Well, they would be, if they would stop growling at me! " She shrieked as drool fell from Maim's mouth. I sighed heavily.

" HEEL! " I yelled. Right away,, the cerbus sat down. " She is a friend! Not food! Do you understand!? " I scolded harshly. The cerbus did understand, because all three of the heads started licking the young female and their tail started wagging.

I readjusted my books and sighed. My two best friends had disappeared, and I wasn't about to go looking for them. I started to climb the stairs, intending to go to the library, when I saw Blood coming down the stairs.
"Hey, Feather," he said.
"Hey, Blood," I smiled back. Blood was two years above me and we hardly ever talked, but sometimes it felt like his smile and brief "Hey" was the only thing that kept me going through the school day.

I slumped into my chair and switched on my laptop. After a few minutes I signed in to Messenger then started on my homework.
Hey
The message blinked on to the screen, and I frowned and checked the user ID.
My heartbeat quickened.
Forrest!
I typed in a reply.
Hey. Howz u?
Gud, u?
Fine.
There was a pause.
So howz Jenny? I asked.
Gud.
Another pause.
Do you fancy me?
I stared at the screen. What?!? How could he even ask that?
Omg, WHAT?!? I replied.
Colin and Jenny told me u fancied me.
Well then they're DEAD. 'Specially Colin.
Y?
Cuz. I don't like him very much.
Oh.
Another pause.
U haven't answered the question.
I bit my lip, wondering how to reply. Then, finally:
Sorry to disappoint u, Forrest, but I have a boyfriend.
Which was true.
U still haven't answered the question.
I groaned and shook my head. When would he give up?
I dunno.
What do u mean, u dunno?
I mean, it's been a year. I did, but I havent seen u 4 ages. Im starting 2 like other ppl, u know?
Yeah. He seemed vaguely disappointed. Well I gtg, c u soon, ok? he said.
Hope so. Miss u, I replied.
And then he went offline.

I sat there for a minute, just staring at the screen, then decided I didn't feel like homework and went on to Facebook. I opened a chat window and typed in a quick message to my friend, Manuela.
Talked 2 Forrest.
The reply was immediate.
Rly? Wat'd he say?
He asked if I fancied him.

I knew the time was coming. Racing toward me all too quickly. But how would I tell her? I couldn't. It would crush her. The guilt hung over my conscience like a veil over the face of a happy bride, although this was no happy moment. For me, anyway. She put her head on my chest, smiling.
"I miss the peaceful days like these. Where the weather isn't too hot nor too cold." Raksha murmured gently. We sat out in a field, wild flowers popping up all around us, the lake shining like a long silvery-blue beam in front of us.
"These days are lovely, aren't they?" I replied half-heartedly. I needed to tell her, and there was only one way that I'd be able to do that. We had to break-up. That was the only way to spare her from being so badly hurt. "We... We need to talk."
Raksha sat up, eyes curious and slightly alarmed. "About what?" she asked quietly.
"About us."
She sat back with a low gasp. "Y-You're breaking up with me, aren't you?"
I didn't reply.
"Aren't you? Aren't you!" tears ran down her beautiful face now, glittering in her bright mismatched eyes.
Glancing down and taking a deep breath, I nodded. "I'm leaving."
"Leaving? Leaving what?!"
"Everything. You, this place..." I replied.
"Where do you plan to go?" Raksha asked quietly.
"Nowhere."
"You aren't making any sense, Naikota!"
I nodded. I couldn't make sense at the moment. This was hurting her so much though... Maybe it'd just be better to tell her the truth? I had to, even though it'd be even worse. I couldn't bear to put her in pain without telling her the truth. "I know. I'm leaving the planet, Raksha. I don't plan on going anywhere because I have no control over where I will be."
Raksha blinked, mouth gaping. "I-I don't understand."
"I have three days until..." I sighed.
"Until what?"
"Death."
More tears poured down Raksha's face as she threw her paws around me. "Nai! How... How could this be? I mean, you aren't sick or anything and it's not like you have any enemies or--"
"No, it's none of that. I'm a fallen angel. I was sent to earth to find true love, and if I did before my time was up, I would get to bring her up into the heavens to live with me for eternity. I found true love, but my limit is up. I was supposed to tell you sooner, to take your soul and throw it to the heavens. But I couldn't bear taking your life away from you. After you become a fallen angel, there is no going back. No more earth friends, no more earth family. I couldn't take that away from you." I explained quietly.
Raksha curled her paws around my neck, but met my eyes. "Take me with you."
I was surprised. "But--"
"No buts. Take me with you. I want to be with you forever. I love you so much, I can't stand the thought of losing you." she whispered.
"I love you too, Rak, more than I'll ever comprehend. But I can't. My days are up."

And so the three days passed, Raksha and I spending every second together. My last few minutes were now upon us. We lied in a small gondala in the heart of Italy, drifting along the night waters. Five minutes until I left earth permanently.
"Please, don't leave me." Raksha whispered, tears draining into my fur.
I hugged her tightly. "I don't have a choice." I whispered in return. "But I'll always be with you." Four minutes.
"How? You'll be gone. How will I remember you?"
"You won't. But as long as our love remains in your heart, I will be with you whenever you call upon me. I will not be there physically, but I will be there." I sighed. Three minutes.
"I don't want to forget you..."
"I don't want you to forget me, I don't want you to not be able to sense my presence. But when the time comes that you need me, I will be there. You may not know it, and you won't know who - Or more precisely what - is with you, but I will be there." Two minutes.
"I love you, Naikota."
"I love you too, Raksha." I pressed my lips to hers, locking myself and her into a kiss that would take away our final two minutes together. We paused for breath a few times, but the sweet, tender kiss did not truly stop.
Five. Four. Three. Two. One... I slowly began to fade. "I love you so much Raksha, please, please do not be frightened when I appear, and please do not forget that you once had such an amazing love and that someone in the heavens will be waiting for you." I whispered in my final seconds.
"I promise I will not forget our love, Naikota. I may forget you, but I won't ever forget that when I pass away, I will be walking into the open arms of my lover. Until we meet again, my love." Raksha whispered, tears streaming down her face as her eyes closed.
My eyes closed, too. "Until we meet again." I whispered, before my voice faded into the wind, and my whole figure disappeared into the dust that filtered through the air.

The Thief [♂] and That Girl [♀]

It was a simple objective. Go to the house of that Rogue, get anything related to the the Village--especially the ring!--and get out. Inside the house was only that Rogue's daughter, and her nurse. Easy as pie, easy as it gets. For one of the Silent Thieves.

I crept through the silent house, my trained feet not making a sound. Step-step-step, stay close to the wall...no sound, no sound... Sound was not a trouble for the Silent... I had been fifteen when I became Silent. I as expected to, of course, proud to. To be Silenced was an honor and tradition of the men of the Village--and the women, too, if they so wished. But they were not expected to, to lose their voices, and become one of the Thieves. The benefit was clear: no voice, no sound, less of a chance of being caught. And no way for the secrets of the Thieves to get out. And I had never learned to write, as was the custom, the practical, practical custom. No matter how I might be tortured, it was nearly impossible for me to give anyone information--not that I would, of course...!

I didn't admit it to anyone, but...sometimes, sometimes...I wanted my voice back. I had no way to communicate with anyone, besides the unreliable mouthing of words, barely even able to explain my name. I wondered if the other Silent felt this way, as if they were about to explode with words, until they longed to scream, but there was no possible way to. I doubted they did, and kept my thoughts to myself. Always with me was paper and quills, ready for my one form of expression, drawing. I wondered if it kept me from going insane. The thought made me uneasy.

I stepped into the bedchamber of that Rogue. Silently and easily, I went through everything, grabbing only the objects of the Village, replacing the rest perfectly. But...where was the ring, the ring with the seal? I felt bugs crawling in my stomach, worry choking me. Where else could it be?

The daughter. She must have it--perhaps this job was going to be harder than I had anticipated, but not by much. It would be in her jewel-box, of course. Silently I left the room I was in for hers. Quietly, quietly now, I opened the door do her room. But the quiet didn't last for long. Something crashed from the top of the door into a metal platter, creating such a clatter nothing could possibly remain asleep. Fool! Half-wit! How could I have been so stupid!

I shuddering breath came from across the room, the sound of a person waking in fright, or horrible sound to a thief in fright.

"Hello...?" I trembling voice said in the slightly moonlit room. Don't, don't move a muscle. She may not notice, or think it a dream. But luck was not with me. A quiet gasp sounded, a recognition of my form. And then the sound of a knife being pulled from a sheath, the harsh metallic rasp.

The girl was standing now, pointing the knife in my general direction. I felt my stomach take a downward turn--would I have to kill her? Killing was terrible, unfortunate, sad, I did not want to do it, especially to this innocent girl.

Then I saw the knife's silhouette trembling: she was just a frightened girl, one who could be persuaded. Relief to my heart, my whole body. I stretched my hand out to her, simultaneously a gesture of peace and of Give me what I want...

"What is it? What?" she asked, her voice shaking horribly. I formed a ring shape with one hand, holding it up.

"You're...you're one of them, aren't you. Those thieves. I know what you're about." Her voice was growing confidence; this was not good. And what was this about knowing what the Silent were about? Perhaps I should steal her, too?

"You shan't have the ring!" she cried, finally realizing what I needed, I presume. I pulled my own knife, advanced, smacked hers from her grip. Sucking in her breath, she held her arms to her chest, shivering, probably wondering what happens after death. I held out my hand. A second later, she was pulling off a necklace, dropping into my hand so as she didn't have to touch me. The ring hit my palm, and I turned, ready to leave. I could leave her, I had the feeling she was just a frightened girl who would know it was better not to tell about what had really happened to the ring.

As I reached the door, I heard the flare of a match and fire behind me. I glanced back and saw her staring straight into my face. Perhaps she was more than I thought. But there was nothing more to do tonight. I stepped out the door.

Eh, I tried to do a sort of stream-of-consciousness thing, and I don't think it worked. xD

Umbra [f]

Silently, he sneaks into the warehouse building, even more woebegone in the gleaming moonlight. He nudges the battered and bruised front door with his nose, carefully nosing it open without a sound. Then, he slips in, wings folded to his back. A sliver of moonlight lays on the dusty ground, from the slightly open front door. His shadows dance across the floor, as he trots around, sniffing the air for the objective...
With a sudden gust of wind, the front door slams to a shut. He flinches, whirling back to check for the enemy. Nothing. The silence seems stifling, but he keeps moving on.
That's when two red eyes appear from behind a stack of crates.
A silent figure sneaks up, unseen, behind him and whispers a single phrase. "Who are you?"
He whirls around, danger for real this time, and growls at the unknown being hidden in the shadows behind him. Its red eyes, bright as the sun are seen. "Who are you?" He retorts, hackles raised and legs tensed.
The unknown figure laughs, a small, tinkling laugh. "Me? I'm Umbra. Now...who are you?" Even though he can't see the being, obviously a female, he can tell she's taken a step closer to him.
"Me? I-I'm...My name is Ven." He grows more confident with each word.
The figure laughs once again. "Why, hello, Ven. It's so nice to meet you."
Ven falters. "Um...You too?"
In the dead silence, he can tell she's smiling. Whether it's a devious smile or a sincere one he can't tell for sure.
"Well...You must be here for a reason, right Ven? Why would you want to wander around an abandoned factory during the dead of night?" The girl...Umbra...asks.
"Th-that's...Confidential." Ven replies, wary of this new person.
She laughs once again. "Oh, group worker, are we?" She muses, mostly to herself. "Wonderful."
Ven tilts his head, confused. What is she talking about?!
"Oh, I'm not insane..." Umbra replies, as if reading his thoughts. "I'm just...Thinking aloud."
And with that, she jerks away and turns, as if to leave.
"Where are you going?" Ven asks her, slightly unnerved.
"Oh, I'm going." Umbra replies nonchalantly. "I suppose we'll see each other again soon, right?"
She turns around once again, and sprints towards the door silently.
"Oh...and what they're looking for. It's not here." She calls serenely, pausing at the door, her figure illuminated by the moonlight.
