    𝚟𝚊𝚕𝚎𝚛𝚒𝚊𝚗𝚜𝚝𝚊𝚛 [vəˈlirēən-stär] — 47 moons
𝖫𝖤𝖠𝖣𝖤𝖱. a white molly with ginger tabby patches and pale green eyes
location: garden > forest | tags: pineshadow; weakpaw
The leader's head turned sharply at the sound of someone addressing her, but the fierce look in her eyes waned some when she saw it was only her former apprentice, Pineshadow. "This is good news to hear." she mewed, nodding her head to the tom in greeting. It had been strange receiving the tabby as her apprentice all those moons ago, when she had only been a warrior for less than an entire sun-cycle. She suspected their leader at the time, Harestar, knew he wanted her to be deputy someday, and having an apprentice was a requirement. At first she'd managed the mentorship as just that: another stepping-stone in her conquest to lead BrumeClan, but after bonding with Pineshadow over the course of their training, Valerianstar had learned to truly appreciate the journey of shaping the Clan's youth into fine-tuned warriors.

She would've liked to strike up some conversation with Pineshadow, but Weakpaw had finally approached her. "I would not expect any less," the bicolored she-cat replied to her charge. Struck by the fact that both of the cats with her either were or had been under her teaching, she let her gaze flicker between them, noting their differences. Valerianstar sniffed and flicked her tail, as if gathering herself once more. These days she tended to wear a constant scowl, her brow furrowed by worry and temper. She was a constant storm, her eyes flashing like lightning ith every thought and a growl of thunder rumbling in her chest each time her patience was tested; depending on your love of such weather, she was a force of beauty or an omen of fury.

"Pineshadow, you head back to camp. Round up some cats and lead a patrol along the border at the mountain base. With leaf-fall here, prey will be heading downhill to escape the worst of the cold and we may as well take advantage of it. And you-" she broke off, flicking her tail at Weakpaw, "Can come with me to the lake." She shot Pineshadow a look that hopefully came across as We can chat later as she turned and pushed through the undergrowth. The lake lay in wait on the other side of the forest, cold and deep and black. The elders liked to say that giant fish lived beneath the depths, ready to drag a full-grown warrior beneath the depths. They said that because StarClan's light could not penetrate the waters, the cats transformed into great whiskered beasts, prowling around for victims.

Still, that place was BrumeClan territory, and Valerianstar hadn't been in some time, and Weakpaw, too. There were dangers that far deep into the forest, and most mentors refused to take their apprentices too far in until they were at least eight moons. If anything, something might stray across her path and make her day a little bit more interesting. As her pelt was swallowed into the trees, she glanced back over her shoulder at her apprentice. "You were late to wake this morning. I don't recall working you that hard yesterday; I hope you weren't sneaking out."

    𝚑𝚘𝚛𝚗𝚎𝚝𝚜𝚠𝚊𝚛𝚖 [ˈhôrnət-swôrm] — 47 moons
𝖶𝖠𝖱𝖱𝖨𝖮𝖱. a ginger tabby tom with a white underbelly and green eyes
    location: forest | tags: wolfscratch
When nothing emerged from the undergrowth, Hornetswam narrowed his eyes and teased the air with his nose. Cat scent trickled in, carrying the scent of a BrumeClan tom towards him. The warrior scowled and crept towards the sound of the cat traipsing through the ferns before emerging from the undergrowth to bar their path. Wolfscratch.

Hornetswarm flattened his ears. "Keep up that racket and you'll scare off all the prey from here to the lake," he muttered, his green eyes narrowing at his clanmate. He was rather surprised to be crossing paths with the tom, as the two of them seemed to have an innate urge to avoid other cats. Perhaps the forest wasn't big enough to hide such recluses as them, and in that case, Wolfscratch ought to find some other place to pollute with his noise.

He wrinkled his snout as if he'd caught a whiff of crowfood and turned, not entirely sure he felt like bickering today. It was always the same with his Clanmates, and eventually he'd have to deal with his sister for hurting her poor warriors' feelings. Hornetswarm flexed his claws in the damp earth beneath him, itching to rake them across her smug, entitled face.

𝖠𝖯𝖯𝖱𝖤𝖭𝖳𝖨𝖢𝖤. a tall, lanky lilac-point siamese molly with blue eyes
    location: grassland | tags: reedwhistle
Covered in dust, Lavenderpaw rolled to her paws with her jaws clamped on a gopher. She'd managed to catch it just before it reached its burrow, but it had required a bit of a sloppy leap across the stretch of dirt pockmarked by holes. The lanky siamese had never been a great hunter, even now when she was only a few moons away from becoming a warrior. Hunting out in the grasslands was definitely not her thing, as she was far too tall to be able to chase rabbits down into their burrows and had to rely on her speed to carry her to them before they could get away.

Luckily, though, training with Pantherhowl had made her much quicker and observant, and Lavenderpaw was starting to feel like she might actually be shaping up into a fine hunter now. Holding the gopher high, she trotted back to her mentor, Reedwhistle. "How was that?" she huffed breathlessly. "I know my jump was sloppy. and I led with left foot instead of my right, so that probably threw of the timing...but other than that...." She trailed off, knowing her mentor wouldn't hold back any criticisms.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Molestripe stretched out in his den, one of the last ones awake. Letting out a quiet growl of frustration, the tom stood up and shook out his pelt. Padding out of the warriors den, he very nearly ran into Drizzlepaw, his sister's apprentice. He gave the small cat a quick, mumbled apology as he sidestepped him and padding into the center of camp. Head turning, he looked around for Brightfire to see if she was going to call for patrols soon or if she already had. He hoped she hadn't already organized patrols. Molestripe wanted to help his clan out in whatever ways possible and if that meant going on every morning patrol he could, then that's what he would do.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Always the early riser, Nettleshine was out and about the camp before either of her siblings were, and even before some of the apprentices, which was a shock to her. Especially Drizzlepaw, her sister's apprentice. She was always telling her stories about him waking her up for training. The she-cat let out a small chuckle at the thought of it. That was when the sister in question approached her with a yawn. "Morning Nettleshine." "Morning Quailfrost," Nettleshine mewed in response. "Not with Drizzlepaw?" Nettleshine asked.

Opening her eyes, the molly blinked sleep out of her eyes, mouth opening up in a wide yawn. Looking around, something felt... Different. Something wasn't right, but what was it? Shifting through the fog in her mind, she realized what it was. Drizzlepaw's not waking me up. Strange. She always woke up to Drizzlepaw calling for her, or even standing over top of her, already wanting to go out training. Getting up, Quailfrost looked around for her apprentice. Not spotting him, she padded out of the warriors den and over toward her sister. "Morning Nettleshine." Morning Quailfrost," her sister mewed in response. "Not with Drizzlepaw?" her sister asked. Quailfrost shook her head. "He must've not woken up yet, which is strange, but we all have those days, so I don't blame him." She replied with a slight shrug. Across the clearing, she heard something that made her ears twitch. Turning her head, she saw Drizzlepaw looking into the warriors den, most likely looking for her. Quailfrost stood back up. "I'll see you later, Nettleshine. There's Drizzlepaw." Quailfrost padded over to Drizzlepaw. Once behind him, the she-cat spoke. "Good morning, Drizzlepaw. You're up late today."

Sealpaw let out a huff as he made his way back to camp. Alone. He had just finished his training with Snakescar. He was hoping to catch some prey as well, but the warrior had sent him away, wanting nothing more to do with him for the day. The apprentice shook his head. He knew the warrior didn't like him, but that didn't mean he had to show it. He could at least pretend to care about him. While he got to hunt and make his clan proud, Sealpaw was coming home empty pawed. That's what he thinks, Sealpaw thought to himself. Ears twitching, he listened for the slightest movement, remembering everything Snakescar had taught him. Sealpaw opened his mouth to taste the air. His ears perked. He had tasted a squirrel. Getting down into a crouch, he looked around for the prey, keeping as still as possible, remembering his training. Upon spotting the prey, he straightened out his tail, using it to balance himself. Creeping towards the unsuspecting prey, wind blowing in favor of the apprentice, he pounced, pining the squirrel's tail to the ground with a paw and using his jaw to deliver a killing blow to the creature's neck. Lifting the fresh-kill with pride, he pranced himself the rest of the way back to camp. He was happy to return to his clan with something useful. If any cat was going to starve, it wouldn't be because of him. Placing the squirrel in the fresh-kill pile upon return, he glanced around, looking to see if Sorrelpaw was back from her training with Pineshadow.

Sorrelpaw

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Unlike her fellow apprentice, Sorrelpaw quite enjoyed gardening duties. While she would love to be battle training so she can help protect her clan, she found gardening peaceful, something she didn't get much of around her brother. Keeping on with her duties, she ignored Weakpaw's sour attitude. She knew the she-cat didn't like gardening duties, but she found no reason to get mad at it. Some cat had to do it. So what if it was them? Too shy to actually say anything like that to Weakpaw, Sorrelpaw kept her mouth shut and worked, ears twitching as she heard Valerianstar approach. She kept to herself as Weakpaw left to talk with Valerianstar, however, she continued to listen to their conversation. Sorrelpaw rolled her eyes. Of course Weakpaw got to go with Valerianstar. For all she knew, the leader was going to send Pineshadow pack to camp without her and she was going to have to be the one to continue on with garden duties by herself. On the other paw though... Sorrelpaw thought for a second, paws slowing in their work. She wouldn't quite mind working on the garden by herself. It meant not having to listen to any cat's complaining, plus she could work at her own pace, and do everything the way she wants to. She continued to listen to Valerianstar and Pineshadow however, in case her name was mentioned and she was summoned away.

Oakfall
「Tom」「129m」「Elder」「Mentions: Mossyoak, Bushfire」「Tags: Honeypaw, Bushfire」
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The elder stretched in his nest as he awoke. Yawning, he laid his head back down, not wanting to get up, his aching joints bothering him. Oakfall was about to ask Bushfire if there was a warrior or an apprentice nearby, but before he could, Honeypaw entered their den. "Morning Honeypaw. Thank you for the squirrel, I appreciate it. But could you do me a quick favor? Can you get Mossyoak for me? Just tell her that my joints are starting to ache again and that it's starting to hurt to move," he told the apprentice with a croak. It had been about half of moon since he needed their medicine cat's help, but he wasn't one to keep his pain to himself. If he needed help, he was going to ask for it, pride pushed aside.

    SOOTPAW
    ─────────────────────────────────

    [ tomcat ] [ medicine cat app ] [ location ;; medicine den ] [ mentioned ;; // ] [ tags ;; mossyoak, honeypaw ]

the tom watched his mentor leave with quiet amber eyes. she probably knew as well as he did that he would go as long as he could without herbs, as it was risky to use anything when it wasn't urgent. instead he gently rose to his paws, stretching his injured leg as much as he could before it hurt and began to limp laps around the den. walking exercises had been a regular habit when he was first practicing to walk again after his accident, and sometimes they helped. perhaps the tom had become too reliant on the herbs, hence his pain at the lack of them.

sootpaw turned as he heard paws near the den entrance, seeing a flash of gold nod at him and leave almost as quick as it entered. the apprentice was often annoyed by his clanmates' almost disregard of him and his abilities. he understood he was just the apprentice and mossyoak was far more experienced, but it often left him feeling useless and unnecessary. these were feelings he'd only ever voiced to the medicine cat a couple of times before, and not with much success. he was just as excited for his full name as the warrior apprentices, maybe then the clan would take him more seriously.

    HONEYPAW
    ─────────────────────────────────

    [ she cat ] [ apprentice ] [ location ;; medicine den/garden ] [ mentioned ;; brightfire, valerianstar ] [ tags ;; oakfall, mossyoak, sootpaw ]

"of course oakfall, i'll let her know." honeypaw promised with a polite smile, backing out of the bramble den and galloping across to the medicine den. on her way over she spied her mentor in conversation with the leader, causing her to slow to a walk. she hoped brightfire had noticed how much honeypaw had improved in her training. although they left her very tired and worn out in the mornings, pantherhowl's training made the golden tabby feel as though she was excelling faster than some of the other apprentices. now whenever she saw the deputy speaking with valerianstar part of her always hoped she was telling the leader how well she was getting on. much like her other denmates, honeypaw couldn't wait for her warrior name and to climb the ladder to leader. honeystar always sounded nice in her head, and pantherhowl convinced her it was more than possible with her help.

realising she was getting off track, the she cat continued for the medicine den. coming in a few pawsteps, she noticed sootpaw walking around, presumably for his leg. upon discovery mossyoak wasn't inside, the molly left with only a short nod in greeting to the medicine apprentice. she was never a massive fan of the fluffy tom for he was always rather curt and although she kind of understood why, she felt he should be grateful he's not in the elder's den.

"mossyoak!" honeypaw called, finding the white medicine cat by the garden. "oakfall says his joints are hurting him again."

    WASPNOSE
    ─────────────────────────────────

    [ tomcat ] [ warrior ] [ location ;; camp ] [ mentioned ;; brightfire, valerianstar ] [ tags ;; dogjaw ]

like most of his denmates, waspnose was out early for some morning hunting. the prey in the territory was beginning to thin and a lot of cats were worried there wouldn't be enough to last them through leafbare, especially with this mysterious sickness creeping upon them as well. the black tabby was hopeful however. his clan had survived everything else that had been thrown at them and so he believed they would be strong enough to pull through this too. nevertheless, he felt a natural inclination to work harder to provide food for his clanmates. everyone was working so very hard and it was a somewhat unspoken mutual feeling that self care was abandoned in favour of providing for others, to a further extent than normal.

despite this, the tom would be lying if he said he wasn't disheartened by his contribution today. a long yet slim fish hung from his jaws as he slipped through the bracken into camp. even thought it was a decent sized catch, waspnose couldn't help but feel as though he could have, and should have, caught more. he placed the fish in the shade of the freshkill pile, hoping it would still be fresh for some cat later after patrols. turning around again, he spied brightfire conversing with valerianstar, so patrols must be being organised soon.

"hello dogjaw," waspnose greeted the other tom with a friendly dip of his head. he'd seen the other warrior from across the way, and approached because of his tense posture. "you alright my friend? you look nervous." although the tabby brute chuckled softly, he hoped dogjaw could hear the genuine concern laced in his tone.

Silverfur had been laying in her nest for quite some time as she watched the rest of her clan mates stir around and leave the den to begin their day. However, Silverfur decided to wait until Ashfall woke up. The two normally started their daily routines sharing tongues before Ashfall took his apprentice out to train. Here lately since the omen from the ancestors of Brumeclan, their routine kind of came to a halt due to Valerian telling the mentors to focusing on training the apprentices to only hunt. Of course it wasn't Ashfall's fault but the omen itself that came between Silverfur and Ashfall's sibling bonding time.
The silver molly huffed as she rose from her nest to make her way out of the warrior's den and into the camp clearing. Silverfur was a little surprised to see Ashfall already up and actually waiting on her. " I didn't realize you were already awake. " the silver tabby mewed quietly to her brother. Silverfur's moos began to lighten up until she saw a small ginger feline walk up to the two. It was Emberpaw greeting her mentor and all Silverfur could do was silently roll her light green eyes as she gazed down coldly at the young cat. The grey feline sat there watching Emberpaw pretending to look fierce and give her brother a bright smile.
Once Ashfall met Silverfur's gaze, the molly gave Ashfall a weak smile and gazed at him with soft eyes. " It's okay Ashfall, you can tell me all about your day once the sun starts to fall. " Silverfur said trying to keep a calm tone with her brother. As she watched the two cats leave, her heart ached a little. Longing to return to their normal routines..where everything was perfect.

Sunlight beamed across Ashfall's face as he rested in his nest lashing his tail furious the sun could be so annoying sometimes. Lifting up his cranium the tom saw that his sister was still sleeping so Ashfall decided to wait on her outside the den. He felt awful that he couldn't keep the daily routine that the two of them have done ever since they became warriors all those moons ago. Ashfall rose from his nest and made his way out of the warrior's den and made his way a little to the side to keep out of the way of other cats exiting the den. The warrior sat there watching other cats moving around in the camp and exiting the camp to go hunting.
Ever since Valerianstar ordered to only train the apprentices to hunt, he's been so focused on the clan he kind of left his sister behind and he wanted to make it up to her. Hearing a familiar voice, Ashfall turned to see Silverfur looking surprised to see him waiting on her. " I didn't want to disturb you so I decided to wait on ya sis. " Ashfall purred, giving Silverfur a warm smile.
The grey tom was then met by a greeting from his apprentice and didn't notice the glare Silverfur gave Emberpaw. " Good morning Emberpaw!" Ashfall returned the greeting from his dear apprentice. " Of course we can go hunting! " he added as he watched Emberpaw pretending to be fierce. The grey tom turned his gaze to Silverfur, " Can we catch up later? " he asked feeling bad to once again leave Silverfur. As the silver tabby replied to his question he nodded and met Emberpaw's gaze " Let's get going and head down to the river. " Ashfall mewed and bean to leave the camp to begin training with his apprentice.

Swiftclaw had been awake early in the morning just as the sun began to rise. It was when the pheasants were most active and he hoped that he could bring one back to the clan. It takes a quick cat to catch these birds and a high leap in the air in case a cat scared them. The tan spotted tom had made his way down to the meadow and waited at the treeline to get a good view. Since leaf-fall has arrived, they were a little scarce around this time but there was always a chance a few were still around.
The grass in the meadow was turning brown and grew shorter and shorter as leaf-bare ever so slowly crept along. Swiftclaw crouched down listening for any movement or calls from any prey. Before he knew it, the tom heard a few pheasant calls in the distance and thus began the hunt. Swiftclaw silently inched his way closer and closer to the flock of birds until he was able to see them dead ahead of him. Flicking his tail he was beginning to get impatient on hunting theses birds, all he wanted to do is feed his clan.
Taking in a deep breath, Swiftclaw unsheathed his claws and began to ready himself to launch himself forwards at a one of the larger pheasants. Leaping towards his target, the birds panicked and began to escape their predator all except one. The young warrior was victorious with his hunt and felt prideful as he began to make his way back to camp with his prey in his jaws.

Ever since the clan was informed about the omen to come during leaf-bare, it felt as if something else was at play. Brightfire and Valerianstar seemed to be a little more on edge than every other cat in the clan; from what she's observed so far since the omen. The dark colored molly had been out trying to hunt for the clan on her own and would soon later join in a patrol once Valerianstar or Brightfire began to assign cats to patrols. The molly wasn't having much luck on catch a whole lot besides the two scrawny mice dangling from her maw as she made her way back into the camp clearing. As Nightwhisper dropped off one of the mice, she kept one for herself to share with another cat of the clan.
She noticed that everyone was out and about besides Wiltedleaf. The molly made her way towards the warrior's den to find the older she-cat catching her breath. Dropping the mouse Nightwhisper said " Is everything okay Wiltedleaf? " She was a little worried that maybe something was going on and no other cat was around to help Wiltedleaf. " I was wondering if you would like to share this mouse. " Nightwhisper added trying to sound a little more calmer as she gazed at the older female looking for any approval.

      ━━ ACORNFALL !!
      ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
      37 ms | tom | warrior | no apprentice | tags; open
      ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
━━The small bi-color tabby tom had been up early that morning and was out hunting just like the most of his fellow warriors had been. His paws ached from so many early morning trips, he spent all day on his paws nowadays it seemed like it would never end. His whiskers twitched as he scented the air around him, hoping he'd find something else before heading back to camp. Hopefully, the rest of his clanmates had already returned and he could rest for a bit. Of course, that was wishful thinking and he'd probably only be sent out again once more. Their leader had seemed particularly affected by the sudden news from Starclan, but nonetheless had held up a strong image, something the clan truly needed in these times. But even so, everyone had been working their tails off - well most anyway.

━━He knew there was probably some cat out there that wasn't doing all they can. But that wasn't something he needed to worry about right now. He needed to worry about himself and his hunting. After awhile longer, he came upon the sudden scent of mouse and froze. Every piece of prey counted as Valerianstar wanted the fresh-kill pile full. He crouched low to the ground, his tail slowly swinging back and forth, before he sprang into the undergrowth. He returned with it between his jaws and he couldn't help but let out a triumphant, but tired mrrow. He sighed and began to head back towards camp, now that he was finally done for now. Then again, a warrior's job was never 'done' during these times anyway, so it was more so 'done with this task' and 'onto the next' type of thing.

━━Acornfall finally made it back to camp and set his prey down with the rest. His heart raced as he flopped down, but only for a moment before springing back up. He would not appear to be tired already, it was about sunhigh and he was tired? No. He let out a breath and sat down, wrapping his tail around his paws as he waited to see if any extra patrols would be heading out today. If another did and he got assigned to it, he wasn't sure what he would do. Then again, even if he didn't he would probably have to go out hunting regardless. Honestly, the words from Starclan had shook the clan to its core and Acornfall was among those terrified by it. Of course, he would never admit it, but the idea of a terrible sickness on its way was something that made him feel sick. He didn't like the idea one bit, so that was really want kept him going during these endless days of hard-work.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
      ━━ HOLLOWFROST !!
      ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
      45 ms | molly | warrior | no apprentice | tags; open
      ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
━━A quiet snap sounded suddenly, breaking the otherwise quietness of the forest. Amber eyes blinked slowly, shining like two twin suns against the dark pelt of the feline they belonged to. Hollowfrost somewhat enjoyed the hunting she was doing, as hunting brought peace to the molly's mind, something that she hadn't been able to get a lot of as of late. The clan was in a state of near chaos with cats heading out on hunting trips left and right. It almost seemed like some were paranoid about the idea of a horrid illness coming this leaf-bare, but Hollowfrost wasn't acting like some of her clanmates were. Yes, she went along like everyone else - otherwise she'd be told off for doing nothing. But she wasn't about to act like a mouse skittering away from a feline such as herself. No, she was going to act like the cat she was and keep up her strong face.

━━But that was it. Her strong face. Nothing really showed beyond that of her cold and forbidding gaze, but she was bothered by the fact that the starry cats above had been so blunt about their message. Did that mean it was going to be even worse than they thought? What if the prey they caught wasn't enough for the clan? What if they did all this work but failed anyway? Hollowfrost quickly caught herself and dislodged the thoughts immediately. No, she wouldn't be acting that way now. Shaking out her pelt as if to get rid of the thoughts and worries that still clung to her, she turned back to her catch and picked it up, carrying away to the rest she had caught earlier.

━━Hollowfrost decided not to return to camp just yet, but rather continue on with her hunting. After making sure her catch was well hidden so that nothing else would try and steal it, she continued on her way, crouching low to the ground and stalking off. Her dark pelt blended in well with her surroundings, which made it easy for her to sneak up on prey, along wit her being almost silent on her paws. Her tail lashed back and forth as she scented the air around her, but unfortunately she didn't catch any prey scent. She wasn't about to give up that easily though and it wasn't like there was anything better to do back at camp, so instead she continued on with her hunting, making sure to remain quiet and keeping her senses sharp.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
      ━━ BUSHFIRE !!
      ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
142 ms | tom | elder | no apprentice | tags; oakfall, honeypaw
      ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
━━Bushfire had already made his morning rounds, visiting the few warriors that he'd seen in camp, before they had ran off again, going out to hunt once more. He knew the clan would be in deep trouble if they didn't prepare, but he sometimes wondered if this was the best thing to do. He didn't see another way to prepare though, so he kept quiet and left things for the clan's leader to handle - after all that's what leaders were for. He had remained in the elder's den up until now, in which he was about to head out once more, but before he could do so one of the apprentices came in, bringing the him and Oakfall something to eat.

━━"Why thank you, Honeypaw." He replied, bringing it closer to himself. He turned to glance at Oakfall, who seemed to be having some pain again. His ears twitched as Honeypaw left and he turned to his fellow elder. "Are you doing alright, Oakfall? I mean, besides your joints acting up again. How have you been fairing as of late, otherwise?" He asked, as he settled down, beginning to start eating his squirrel.

Mossyoak 34 moons Apprentice: Sootpaw Mate/Crush: Tags: Honeypaw
"𝒴𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝓈𝓉𝑜𝓇𝒾𝑒𝓈 𝑒𝓃𝒹, 𝓎𝑜𝓊'𝓇𝑒 𝓉𝑜𝑜 𝑜𝓃 𝑒𝒹𝑔𝑒 𝓉𝑜 𝓉𝒶𝓀𝑒 𝒶𝒹𝓋𝒾𝒸𝑒;

M o s s y o a k loved the quiet of the garden. That’s where she thrived: in peace, alone. Sootpaw wasn’t the issue; no, he was a wonderful apprentie, often quiet himself with their conversations mostly pertaining to her duties. It was the rest of the Clan that bothered her. She could always hear chattering outside of her den, and it always made him nervous; she was afraid that she would overhear something that mattered. It had been many, many moons since StarClan had given her any visions or signs, but that her dreams had returned, Mossyoak had worsened, always anxious and restless. The garden made her feel at peace. Eventually, all of the mentors would fetch their apprentices and take them off to train or hunt, and she would have it all to herself. That had been the case today - she had passed Pineshadow and Sorrelpaw on her way and he had told her that she’d have no company. Mossyoak felt like she could breathe for the moment.

Honeypaw’s voice jolted her back to reality, and Mossyoak’s claws unsheathed and slid into the delicate leaves she’d clasped between her paws. The white queen had just lifted back onto her haunches to bite away a piece of stem from the plant, as she only wanted the root. She let the comfrey root fall from her paws as she dropped back down and turned towards the apprentice. “I can delegate that to Sootpaw,” Mossyoak replied. “Tell him I want a ragwort and juniper poultice put on it - and here, take this.” The white cat picked the root back up and padded towards the other molly. She dropped it at her feet. “He needs to line his nest with this. I’ve already gotten my claws in it, so he doesn’t need to scratch it any further. Tell Oakfall I’ll check on him when I get back, won’t you?” The tom wasn’t often in her den. She considered him in good health, though as time had gone on his age had begun to show in his stiff bones.

Weakpaw 10 moons Mentor: Valerianstar Mate/Crush: Tags: Valerianstar
"𝔚𝔥𝔢𝔫 ℑ 𝔤𝔬, 𝔦𝔫𝔱𝔬 𝔱𝔥𝔞𝔱 𝔤𝔯𝔬𝔲𝔫𝔡,

T h e tortoiseshell padded after her mentor, her pace quick to keep in step. Weakpaw was silent on the walk. She had no need for small talk; her relationship with Valerianstar was purely business. They were not friends, as far as Weakpaw was concerned, only mentor and apprentice. She often wondered why the leader had chosen to train her herself - there were other warriors in the Clan to give the task to. After all, a cat with a name like “Weakpaw” shouldn’t be assigned to the Clan’s leader. She doubted any warrior in the Clan would want to train a cat like herself; a cat who did everything fiercely and with speed but had to stop and catch her breath too often or let the pains in her chest subside, a cat whose heart had to work to hard to keep her body alive. Weakpaw finally decided that Valerianstar likely just pitied her, though she would never admit that she didn’t have the heart to just ask.

Weakpaw’s chest was beginning to hurt when Valerianstar finally spoke again, and her paws were beginning to slow, but Weakpaw pushed herself harder to keep up. The apprentice’s ear twitched in annoyance at the question. She wouldn’t dare say that she had been exhausted this morning from Pantherhowl’s training in her dreams. She had learned a new battle move, but the queen would not allow her to finally rest until she had perfected it. It had been exhausting, but Weakpaw knew what she wanted from the training, so she pushed herself to her limits. Her body had woken her up - she had been gasping for breath. She had rested in her nest, struggling to breathe, until finally her chest settled enough to allow her to rise and seek out her mentor. No, Valerianstar didn’t need to know what Weakpaw was doing at night. “Chest pains,” the tortoiseshell muttered in reply. “I couldn’t breathe well. I had trouble falling asleep because of it. It won’t happen again, Valerianstar.” I have to be more careful.

Valerianstar narrowed her eyes at her apprentice, but gave a short nod and opened her jaws to speak; before she could, however, Brightfire appeared from the ferns. "I believe Honeypaw was speaking to Mossyoak in the garden," Valerianstar replied to her friend and deputy, gesturing back through the gloom towards the patch of herbs. "I'm taking Weakpaw to the lake. Perhaps we can hunt when I return." There was cordiality in her voice, but affection was nestled in there as well; she and Brightfire had been friends since they were kits, and Valerianstar was forever grateful to have her as deputy. "We should be back by sundown, I'll be able to join an evening patrol." she added.

She specifically didn't mention bringing Weakpaw along, knowing that her decision hinged on how her apprentice fared during their training session. It wasn't as if she felt the need to coddle the young she-cat, but Weakpaw wasn't use to anyone if she could barely function. Recalling what Weakpaw had told her, Valerianstar wondered if she ought to go back to camp to be seen by a medicine cat. After a moment she decided against it, seeing as her apprentice didn't seem to be struggling at the moment. "Let us be off. We don't want to be in these woods when the sun sets," she mewed to Weakpaw, butting Brightfire on the shoulder as she passed and melted into the trees.

    SOOTPAW
    ─────────────────────────────────

    [ tomcat ] [ medicine cat app ] [ location ;; medicine den ] [ mentioned ;; // ] [ tags ;; honeypaw, oakfall, bushfire ]

the fluffy brute paused his exercises as he heard pawsteps approaching the den again. he was just as disappointed as she was to have to converse with honeypaw again. he gave her a scornful look as she incorrectly recalled the herbs, but said nothing concerning the matter. "alright, thank you honeyp─" he was cut off by the she cat briskly leaving the den. sootpaw's ears flattened and he let out a quiet growl of annoyance before turning to the herb stock, tail twitching in the last of his frustration. he carefully packed the juniper, ragwort and the roots into a leaf package before carrying it across to the elder's den.

slipping into the bramble bush, he placed the herbs down and greeted the old toms with a polite smile. "good day oakfall, bushfire," sootpaw then turned to oakfall. "i heard your joints are hurting you again, may i take a look at them?" he asked before beginning to chew up the herbs.

    HONEYPAW
    ─────────────────────────────────

    [ she cat ] [ apprentice ] [ location ;; medicine den/camp ] [ mentioned ;; brightfire, oakfall ] [ tags ;; mossyoak, sootpaw, brightfire ]

"yes mossyoak." the apprentice meowed, slightly embarrassed at the disappointment that was clearer in her voice than she'd meant. taking the herbs in her jaws the molly headed back into camp, ears lowering and a groan escaping around the roots as she headed back across to the medicine den. as much as honeypaw loved helping out her clan, she was getting tired of walking back and forth places doing errands, and her exhaustion from the previous night was beginning to creep into her limbs. the golden tabby wanted to get on with her training before she was too tired. disappointing brightfire was the last thing she wanted.

"sootpaw," honeypaw grumbled as she entered the den and dropped the herbs by the tom's black paws. "mossyoak wants you to see to oakfall. she said she wants uh..." her tail flicked as she rummaged through her brain for what the medicine cat had told her. "she said she wants a juniper and uhm... ratwood poultice on it!" her exclamation presented a confidence in her words, but sootpaw's unamused look of disdain quickly dissipated it. mousebrain, she scolded herself. "she also wants his nest lined with this." the striped apprentice muttered before making haste towards the den entrance.

she let out a large sigh as she emerged back into camp, wasting no time in approaching her mentor. "good afternoon brightfire!" she chirped to the deputy. "when are we going to start training?"

Mossyoak 34 moons Apprentice: Sootpaw Mate/Crush: Tags: Open
"𝒴𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝓈𝓉𝑜𝓇𝒾𝑒𝓈 𝑒𝓃𝒹, 𝓎𝑜𝓊'𝓇𝑒 𝓉𝑜𝑜 𝑜𝓃 𝑒𝒹𝑔𝑒 𝓉𝑜 𝓉𝒶𝓀𝑒 𝒶𝒹𝓋𝒾𝒸𝑒;

A s she was left alone again, the heterochromatic queen breathed a sigh of relief. She closed her eyes for a moment, relishing in the sounds of the forest: a bird was singing a midday tune, somewhere; leaves rustled ever so gently, the breeze just enough to make them sway; almost above her head, a squirrel chattered endlessly, a sound that might thrill some with the idea of a hunt. Mossyoak would not be hunting, however - she had only the most rudimentary training in the art. No, her skill lie only in healing, so that was where she would devote herself. She tried to force away any thoughts of how things could be different. Perhaps her name would be Mossyfang, or Mossyclaw, or Mossypounce, had she earned it alongside her brother. Perhaps she would be heading back to camp with him and his apprentice right now to patrol. Perhaps things would be easier for her poor, spinning mind and far-too-empathetic heart.

This was her bed, and she would like. The white molly gathered the sweet-scented catmint leaves she had delicately separated from the plant in her jaws. It made her mouth water. She had been waiting all morning to come and fetch it; every medicine cat knew that it was wiser to collect herbs once the morning dew had vanished. Especially now BrumeClan could not afford to let their leaves rot. In addition, she would leave it on an sky-facing rock to dry out further before tucking it into the rest of their store. This had become routine. She felt for her apprentice - she had gained him at a time in which more paws were important, but she knew he would lack the simpler, training-focused apprenticeship she had. No, Sootpaw would be forced to bear the weight of the coming sickness with her, whether he was ready or not. All she could do was her best to prepare him.

Weakpaw 10 moons Mentor: Valerianstar Mate/Crush: Tags: Valerianstar; Brightfire
"𝔚𝔥𝔢𝔫 ℑ 𝔤𝔬, 𝔦𝔫𝔱𝔬 𝔱𝔥𝔞𝔱 𝔤𝔯𝔬𝔲𝔫𝔡,

W h e n Brightfire made her appearance, the small tortoiseshell’s green eyes focused on her. Brightfire was a sort of enigma, to Weakpaw. The queen was already apprenticed to Valerianstar - what more access to those in power could she need? Still, when around the deputy, Weakpaw couldn’t help but feel as if it would not hurt her cause to befriend Brightfire. She found herself wanting to, even, and it almost made her feel ill. She had a goal in mind. This was no time to develop an infatuation with an older - and on top of that female; what would Snakescar think? He would just love to hear that, wouldn’t he, to be able to look down on her as something grossly unusual - cat, much less the deputy. No, Weakpaw knew better - these type of feelings only brought trouble and unwanted attention. She would grow out of it eventually; she was too young for these feelings, regardless of their validity. But regardless, Weakpaw averted her gaze as the scent of pine and fresh dew made her nostrils flare and her heart skip a beat.

As her mentor called for her, Weakpaw’s mind surged back into reality. Springing to her paws, the apprentice trotted after her mentor, tail raised. As they passed the deputy, she let the tip of her tail trail over Brightfire’s flank, barely touching. And just like that the moment had ended and Weakpaw forced thoughts of anything other than training from her mind. She kept her pace as closely matched to Valerianstar’s as she could manage, nodding along to her words. “Will we be hunting, or practicing battle moves?” Weakpaw asked, her voice breathy from the swift movement. “I’ve been working on my leap for birds. I think I can almost get high enough to effectively ground one.” Her chest almost puffed with pride - but no, Weakpaw knew almost wasn’t anything to be proud of, especially in the presence of the Clan leader. She made a mental note to practice again once Valerianstar had dismissed her, either for the day or for a break, until she was certain that if she were to make the jump, her claws could sink into a bird and drag it back to the earth.
