This dog-shaped rock formation really caught my eye!Image
Hopefully I don't sound too much like a geology textbook... but I found these interesting facts on just how oddly-shaped structures like this occur.
Rock formations are usually the result of weathering and erosion sculpting the existing rock.
A rock structure can be created in any rock type or combination:
    - Igneous rocks are created when molten rock cools and solidifies, with or without crystallization. They may be either plutonic bodies or volcanic extrusives. Again, erosive forces sculpt their current forms.
    - Metamorphic rocks are created by rocks that have been transformed into another kind of rock, usually by some combination of heat, pressure, and chemical alteration.
    - Sedimentary rocks are created by a variety of processes but usually involving deposition, grain by grain, layer by layer, in water or, in the case of terrestrial sediments, on land through the action of wind or sometimes moving ice. Erosion later exposes them in their current form.
I think its so crazy to imagine just how many bits of broken earth have probably added to an infinite number of structures, both on the surface and below.

    image/fact:
    - These rocks are commonly known as the faces of Punakaiki! They're actually apart of Punakaiki Cavern's Pancake rock formation, which is stationed in New Zealand. Their unique composure is primarily due to the pressure of water and air being forced upwards from caverns beneath them during their formation. It's limestone structure was easily shaped by such, leaving some fascinating structures to arise!
