Finds a severely injured mermaid
Takes them home to help them.
Mermaid wakes up at her place
Is angry at first
Then becomes depressed, lethargic because she's stuck in a small backyard pool
Doesn't realize they're slowly healing
Over time their fins become healthy and the fin rot recedes
It's not until they're almost completely healed that they start to trust
Before they can thank her, mermaid is released

Is a member of legion
Sent to fight over the ocean
Falls into the ocean
Spends hours trying to stay afloat but their wings get waterlogged
As they sink the mermaid finds them, the tables are turned
The mermaid, unable to go on land, instead holds her underwater, using magic to allow breath

Wakes up and panics, because underwater
Finds out they can breathe after mermaid talks them down
Because their wings are waterlogged they're heavy, meaning they're at the bottom of the ocean in a cave

The crystal blue of the ocean waves hit the sand, the water creeping closer to Tyne's feet as though trying to play tag. The waves were always inconsistent, sometimes stopping way too short, other times making Tyne dance away in order to avoid getting her feet wet. She held her wings high; water and wings didn't go well unless you were water foul.

As she walked, she noticed something strange blocking the waves ahead of her. Intrigued, Tyne approached, thinking maybe it was just an old fisher's net that had washed ashore. She was sure she could toss it in a bin later, but as she closed the distance she became painfully aware this wasn't ocean trash. In front of her lay a mermaid, their tail cut by what looked like a boat's motor.

the wounds are deep, and the poor mermaid's fins looked horrifying, fin rot having infested upon the creature.

Rahmiel is the angel of mercy and love, which is why he has blue glowing features and blessed wings. He's very humble and romantic, taking pity on the simplest of creatures. However, when he's faced with a creature that has more power than he does, he's unsure of what to do and ends up getting twisted in the terrible tale. Despite his actions, Rahmiel only seems to make things worse, which is usually not what happens when he uses his powers.

Just like all other things in life, there needs to be some balance. This also applies to angels.

Azrail is the angel of death. Unlike the other angels, he's struggled with his position the most. He overtook the original angel's job and name, despite not remembering what he'd done during his mortal life. For centuries, he completed his tasks in peace and didn't complain.

In modern times, Rahmiel came into his position as the angel of mercy and love. He quickly met many angels and didn't come to admire many of them other than Azrail, whose job as a "grim reaper" fascinated him. The angel of mercy and love also felt his heart-strings being pulled at how lonely and sad that job could be. He decided to make Azrail fall in love with the next mortal he saw, and it wasn't until she died that he realized it was a mistake. The angel of death had to help his lover to the other side, and he couldn't do anything else to save her. To this day, Azrail still blames himself for not being able to do anything else.

Azrail was heartbroken and furious, bringing his anger to Rahmiel because he knew that the angel had been the cause. Rahmiel could do nothing but cry and apologize, which brought no comfort to the other angel. For years now, Azrail has held a harsh grudge against the angel of mercy and love.

Through this time, Rahmiel has realized that he has been in love with Azrail from the beginning. Despite his powers, the angel of death hasn't fallen in love with him. Angels can only fall in love with other angels through their own will.

Azrail will have to discover a change of heart for Rahmiel's dreams to come true.
