uber casual species !!
heldyr are demonic skeleton dogs originating on the same planet as illiae maus. heldyr are territorial creatures who stake claims to land via brutal battles and large displays of power. the external bones on their body are created from the same collagen as the internal bones and serve as an extra layer of protection. they have thin skin so having armor is a necessity to combat not only each other but their illiae rivals. their nails are extremely durable and hardly break, and can be known to tear through steel with ease. standing 6 feet at the shoulder and well over 900 pounds, heldyr are massive. once in a while they have been known to co-exist with their rivals in a sort of protect-and-be-protected relationship. a heldyr skull is made of solid bone holding no flesh underneath. their eyes are a hallucination using condensed smog to give off the presence of functional eyes. heldyr cannot see nor smell, and communicate to each other with various clicks, claw taps, and vocalizations. heldyr can hear over 3 miles away; and project their roars over 7, so while they cannot see nor smell they can still survive.
heldyr have live births and usually give birth too 2 pups in a litter, on rare occasions 3 or 4. as soon as a newborn is able to walk they are taught by their parents how to fend for themselves as their parents only stay with their young until 3 months of age. human interaction with heldyr is not possible as they perceive anything that moves as a threat unless great respect is earned. a human having a domesticated heldyr is a scarcity but isn't unheard-of. heldyr are capable of being pack mules as well as fast transportation mounts, but many that are domesticated are sold off to defense experts and train them to be guard dogs or soldiers of war.
