Chiko believes 110% that she will need it to reach her final evolution. From her childhood she has always hung around with Growlithes and vulpixs as her egg happened to get mixed up with theirs. Everyone else needed fire stones to evolve and it was a big ordeal for the youths to go venture into the mystery dungeon to find their own fire stone. But Chiko did not evolve as soon as she touched it so she believes that after she evolves first she will use it to reach her strongest form!

It was a gift from her family years ago. She remembered joining them like this:

The blizzard ended in the dead of the night, but Dalin's parents never returned. There is very little a young torchic can do in a cave so they ventured off to forage when the sun rose after the third day being alone. The winter outside was bitter and the cold winds cut into Dalin's bones. The torchic was able to catch a rat, but it seemed that other pokemon were also out to hunt after the storms. The lycanroc crept out of the forest and Dalin must have looked like an easy meal since it attacked swiftly. Dalin did its best to peck and scratch where she could, but it seemed hopeless.

The onslaught was stopped after a loud growl and when Dalin looked up she saw a ninetails that was white as snow. The lycanroc was nowhere to be seen. The ninetails beckoned her to follow and so she did. Their journey was filled with mainly times of hunting, with Dalin standing by to guard the food collected. When the sun was close to setting, the ninetails led the way back to their den and a bevy of vulpixes swiveled their heads to see a curious new friend.

Dalin dined, learned and grew with the kits. The group was fast to warm up to the torchic and Dalin was accepted into the family. She and the other vulpixes would have fights and adventures. One exploration led to the discovery of a fire stone! The vulpixes thought it was an excellent treasure and strung it up for Dalin to keep for the future.
