personality; david is a rather .. hard.. person to get to know or take a liking to. he has extremes only, no in between. the most notable example is in his personality where he's either bossing you around or is incredibly laid back and telling you to "go with the flow."
xxxon one end, he craves stability, a hand in things, and the ability to control what happens, which is why he can be so rude and bossy. an unstable environment triggers his anxiety and he wants to make it go away. with his anxiety comes heightened emotions that run on what's probably a trigger finger. he wears sunglasses almost 24/7 to make sure he doesn't embarrass himself when he gets overwhelmed and tears fill his eyes (it's also an added benefit to shading his eyes from the sun!)
xxxand on the other, he too hates being told what to do, and would rather figure things out himself. he encourages others to go their own way and uncover themselves because what is life if not to discover your true passions and abilities? david wants others to stay chill because if others get tense and emotional he's going to copy them and get stressed too. life can be too rushed and just letting yourself float and deal with things as they come can be the least emotionally draining thing you can do.
xxxhe's an extrovert and enjoys being with other people. having meet ups and getting to know strangers/acquaintances is something he considers fun. parties, raves, birthday celebrations, arcades, etc. are all areas he can be found at. surfing on the ocean with friends is one of his favourite pastimes, and on his off days can be found in his wetsuit with a board in hand.
xxxdavid holds a large amount of pride and joy in his work, which is being a marine conservationist. he's a marine biologist and specializes in marine ecology. with this education and job, he has a heightened sense of what's right and morally wrong to do on a beach, near water bodies, and how to protect the oceans. he gets easily agitated when someone litters or participates in things that are depleting the quality of marine life, like oil spills or climate change. do not get him started on it because he will go off. he tries to keep his cool and let others say whatever because he doesn't appreciate arguments but sometimes he can't help himself.
xxxteaching little kids about being aware of the dangers and issues of water energizes him. david loves to teach children because important knowledge needs to be passed onto the next generation. he'll gladly crunch ''adult'' topics into bite sizes for kids to understand and hopes they'll remember the message as they get older and have the ability to do something. david has no kids of his own; only nieces and nephews, and he wants them to grow up with the ocean holding a special place in their heart. respect for public waterways never starts too young.
xxxalongside being a marine biologist and a psuedo teacher, david is a fishkeeper. it's only a school of neon tetras but he finds watching them swim around definitely brings down his heart rate and calms his anxiety. he takes great care of them, and delves into deep research to find the best food/items/tank sizes. david is somewhat of a perfectionist and he wants to make sure he's providing to the best of his ability.
by KEiSD extras; david likes to pretend he's buddy buddy with the marine wildlife. any stray starfish or crab he comes across, he'll give it a nod and say, "what's up, man?" like he's greeting a friend on the street. he'll extend a paw and fistbump the animal, like the crab's claw for example; sort of like those "bros" you see in colleges. he has a soft spot for crabs specifically, and will always go out of his way to help one. it doesn't help he has that deep voice associated with guys that are classified as 'bros'. he doesn't care; he looks the part, he fits the role, so you can't really argue with that.
