Background Info
Dris grew up believing their talents were a lie, that they were hallucinating, that their head was broken and that's why all the bad things kept happening to them. In the beginning, their abilities could be disguised. They convinced everyone that they were normal. If you didn't like them? They're an empath: They can change that.
When they were seventeen, they were discovered by an underground group who believed in them and their abilities. They ran away from home, snapping apart the mental bond they had with their little brother as a sacrifice to make a better life for their fellow changelings.
Then the enforcers came. Dris fought, sent nightmares, even killed a few with bad hearts who couldn't stand up to her shots of fear. But the enforcers were stronger.
Of the entire mutant group, Dris was the only survivor.
Now Dris is here, searching for some way to fight back, and maybe find a place to belong along the way.
Ability Info
Empathy
Dris can see emotions as an aura of colors surrounding a person. They constantly read shallow emotions-- those feelings that you leak into the air through body language. They can look deeper, if they choose. Mostly, they don't choose. That's how people get hurt.
Looking into somebody's eyes is the fastest way to see into their deepest emotions.
They also have the ability to change and manipulate the emotions of others, a talent they reserve only for their enemies.
Dreamrunning
Dris is also able to visit the dreams of those who are sleeping. This is a very limited ability 90% of the time: Dris must be asleep to use it, while their enemy is also asleep.
However, when it works, they are able to access memories through dreams, give dreams about specific events, find and locate dreamers who are far away, and even bring nightmare monsters into reality to fight as they sleep.
Personality
Don't mistake them for shy. They're fascinated with people, and are as interested in figuring out what makes you tick as they are in winning the war. They know there's more than one way of playing with emotions, and they're not afraid to push your buttons.
Mostly, though, they're just the quiet weird one in the back, waiting for their moment.
