Nihava is a portmanteau of Alva “Evil” and Nihasa ”Devil”
______________________________________________________________Though not well known, Nihava is thought to be a pack of evil souls, thirsty for blood and torture. However that is not the case, Nihava is just a pack of wolves who all share the same religion and beliefs. They seem evil with their ways, sadistic when it comes to their religion and beliefs and cruel with their punishments for breaking pack law. Nihavians however, they see themselves as normal, not demonic, they just want to keep their gods and ancestors happy and protect their own.
PracticesNihava is religion based. Every job Nihavians are assigned are for a good cause. That good cause being serving their alpha, and keeping their gods and goddesses pleased. The pack is also taught in astrology, and balance as it connects to their occultism.
Their jobs vary depending on their tasks. No matter what though, their job or task are of doctrinal reasons. Their actions are to please their gods by fulfilling their wills. Never do they kill without reason or for sport.
______________________________________________________________Nihava was named after Lord Lucifer, the first alpha, he was the reason the pack got a bad reputation with how hellbent and bloodthirsty he was. Though he was killed off by Ula herself for displeasing her and the other gods, he ended up being the reason why Amanah, had their name changed by the gods to Nihava, as a constant reminder to not lose control of oneself. After Lord Lucifer’s death, his daughter Kasdeya took his place and pleased the gods since with her self control. Old ways where reshaped, new traditions formed, some old traditions forgotten, but it’s religion kept the same.
______________________________________________________________Nihava is Polytheistic. They believe in many gods, They have five deities as primal gods and goddesses. They also believe fallen Nihavians spirits still are roaming the territory, protecting it, and luring trespassers into traps.
The pack pleases their gods through rituals in which they pray over the deceased to give the gods the decease’s soul. In return, the gods give back to the pack strength and energy. The ashes spread throughout the territory are to Amarok, who grants the pack stealth and Nihavians scent to go undetected on their soil.
Atheism is allowed, however atheists would have to still follow traditions when on the territories soil. If a wolf believed in another religion, or an atheist wolf did not follow traditions, that wolf is named a traitor and is sentenced to death.
Gods:Lupa- Also known as “Wolf Queen”, and “Spirit of Visions”. She is the wolf of Motherhood, and children. She is also the wolf of Astrology, Balance, and Dreams.
She is looked up to by the Nihavian feas who pray to her to provide them healthy litters and guides her subjects home. She protects her subjects from nightmares and gives them only the best of dreams.
Amarok-Also known as “Wolf of the Night”, and “Spirit of Regret”. Amarok is the Son of Lupa & Conri and is the guardian of the forests. He provides his followers stealth and protection.
One common ritual done to please him is the scattering of a cremated Nihavians ashes throughout the territory. Amarok grants stealth to the pack from this ritual and helps them stay undetected.
Ula-Also known as “Spirit of Consequence”, she is the
Daughter of Barghest. She punishes wolves who displease her or any of the other four gods.
Her punishments vary, typically are violent but necessary. She punishes those who do not believe in them, and who do not give them offerings. These offerings can be souls sent through prayer towards her and the other gods. These souls are of prey or creatures fallen victim to a pack member.
Barghest-Also known as “Wolf of Darkness” he is the Son of Amarok & Accalia. He inflicts pain, misery, and suffrage on those who do not please him, or any of the other gods. If he is angry, he can set Plagues, & Illnesses across the land to purify them.
His followers please him through offerings. These offerings typically are souls sent through prayer towards the gods, or a large prey animals heart. He grants his followers invisibility in the darkness and protects them against disease, he also grants nightmares to their foes and enemies.
Zeff-Also known as the “Spirit of Dominance” he is the son of Lupa and Conri. He gives his followers strength, power and stability. If he gets angry, he can cause devastating earthquakes.
For his followers to earn strength, power and stability, they must be healthy and fit, and truly loyal to their alpha.
______________________________________________________________There are several events that take place in Nihava. The most important of all is the
Offering, they offer souls of the eliminated through prayer over the deceased body. (They
do not kill wolves to do this, they do this is they died from other causes. These offerings in turn give them protection by their gods.
There are three ceremonies that take place in Nihava. The
Graduation, in which an apprentice comes of age to become a scout. The pack goes on a hunt for a pure black rabbit. Once killed it is skinned and its remains are fed to the graduates. The higher up calls each of the graduates names and they stand on top the black pelt as they are told the pack law. The graduate agrees to follow the law and steps down to eat one of the rabbits organs or piece of meat. After the ceremony the graduates are considered adolescents. For the adolescents to change rank, they must fight a wolf within that rank and win the fight.
The second tradition is the
Initiation. This ceremony celebrates a new Nihavian. This ceremony is meant for the wolves who are recruited into the pack. These wolves are taught about the packs religion, their beliefs, rituals and their ways. After being taught about all this they live in Ula’s Cavern. This Cavern is dark and inescapable unless you are a Nihavian who are trained on how to maneuver around in pure darkness and are guided by the gods. They live in this Cavern for days to months in solitude and darkness, hunters come by every morning to drop off food. The Cavern provides a small spring which offers water however it is a matter of locating the water through the darkness. What living in the dark does to the wolf is cause them to hallucinate. Allowing spirits and the gods to be heard by the wolf, and their eyes even seen. Wolves can be guided by Lupa’s eyes - which are large bright white pairs of eyes - to the spring but she only will guide them if they truly believed in her and the other gods. If the wolf did not truly believe, they would die of dehydration unless she sensed that they were atheist. After surviving the Cavern they are let out and considered obedient omegas who are to fight the rank above them to move up in the packs hierarchy.
The third ceremony is the
Cremation. When a Nihavian dies, the body is cremated by Lord Kasdeya. Then the ashes are spread throughout the Nihava territory. The ashes are an offering to Amarok who in return grants Nihavians stealth and protection.
______________________________________________________________The Dark ForestThe deepest part, and the most dangerous part, of the forest. The evergreen trees are tall and slender. The crowns of the tall trees block out the sun, making the forest floor lack of sunlight and consumed of darkness and a fog like mist lurks making any non pack member blinded going through the territory. The spreaded ashes through the territory can prevent trespassers from relying on their sense of smell when going through the land. The Dark Forest is full of evil spirits, and mischievous creatures. If one ventures within who is not a Nihavian, they don’t come out alive, or sane. There land is littered with traps camouflaged with the forest floor. Nihavians are taught how to detect these traps and thus avoid them. Trespassers do not know and fall into these traps. These traps are nets made from thorny vines hidden by foliage sticks and twigs. These traps can also be deep inescapable holes, some with thorn bushes at the very bottom. These holes are also covered by foliage and twigs.
The Angry RiverThe pack has its own river which provides them water. One must not go into the river as it is powerful enough to sweep away even the strongest of wolves. However it’s shallows are calm enough to be drank from.
Ula’s Cavern Nihava owns an underground cavern called Ula’s Cavern which has no tunnels but provides a spring and can be parkoured out of by a Nihavian who has learned to see in pure darkness.
Talon’s EdgeThis is the top of a mountain, whose cliffs look like talons of an owl. This is a very sacred place and only healers are allowed to go to. Healers go to talons edge and speak to the spirits. They may receive prophecies or warn of danger.
With tooth and claw, Nihavians protect their land, and their pack. With their knowledge of traps, they hold an advantage on trespassers giving them an option to bait the victim into a trap and leaving them there. Intruders are chased by patrol wolves out of the territory, into traps, or killed at sight.
______________________________________________________________Diplomacy (Relations)
Nihavian’s learned to represent their pack with politeness when outside its borders. Unless necessary, they will do no harm to another. They never tell of their packs location, nor are they easy to be followed to their homelands.
For wolves, they cannot tell if another wolf is a Nihavian. That is because Nihavains typically have a masked, or no scent. Nihavians are not just located in their homeland, but are located throughout the forest usually on missions, expeditions, or on exile.
Nihavaians keep their identity secretive. Unless forced to, they will not have tense relations with them, otherwise, they try to stay neutral.
Blackwater - Neutral
New Hale - N/A
______________________________________________________________ • Never disrespect the Gods. This will lead to the gods becoming angry and showing their wrath on not only the wolf, but perhaps the pack as well.
• Never spare a victim’s life. By doing this you are dishonoring your pack. This will give you the death penalty.
• Never leave business unfinished. The gods may remind you if you’ve forgotten, but if you refuse to finish it they may then punish you.
• Never steal from the pack. Thiefervy within the pack is frowned upon and not tolerated. You will be excluded from eating with the pack for approximately a week.
• Do not kill your fellow Nihavians. This will be a traitorous act and the wolf would be given the death penalty.
• Never expose the packs identity or secrets to strangers. Doing this is pack endangerment, and the wolf at fault will be sentenced the death penalty.
• Do not disobey orders from your higher ups. This highly disrespectful and very frowned upon. The wolf will be demoted to Omega, and be excluded from eating with the pack for approximately one week.
• Never disrespect the dead. Disrespecting the dead is disrespecting the pack.
• Do not disrespect your elders, or the juveniles. This is highly frowned upon.
• Never mate an outsider. Choose a mate freely, but if it’s an outsider, kiss goodbye your pack and live life in exile and be punished by the gods for your sins.
• No bearing pups without permission by your superiors and without prayer to Lupa. Pups will be killed or taken away if neglected by their parents, or if they were born weak, ill, or without the superiors and the goddesses blessings.
• Never challenge your superiors for their rank. They will never accept and if they do they will put you in your rightful place.
• A wolf must challenge a wolf of the rank higher of theirs if they want to move up the ranks. If they win the two wolves switch ranks..
If a pup is too weak, if a wolf is too old and frail, they should be put to rest. They are too weak to defend the pack and must be put under the care of the packs Gods.
