Maya scrambled to grab a pokéball from her bag before she felt a spherical object. Picking it up, she took one glance at it before silently wishing herself luck. Focusing, she tossed the ball at the fainted deerling, hoping for the best. Silently, both her and Basil watched.

Maya attempts to capture the autumn deerling!

It seems like the deerling really wasn't expecting a fight.
The wild deerling fainted.
Now would be the perfect time to capture it before it wakes back up and runs away.

Maya watched intently, eyes glittered with excitement. Whether she got the deerling or not, her pokémon had done great! Suddenly, she heard a click. Was it real, or was it in her head? After a moment, she realized it was real. Jumping up, she grinned ear-to-ear. “Yippee! We did it, Basil, we did it!” she cheered. “Bulbasaur!” Basil said, as if he was cheering too. Walking to the pokéball, she picked it up. “Hmm, I’m gonna call them Almond.” she decided aloud. “Let’s head back” she said to her bulbasaur who looked tired. She put Basil in his pokéball so he could get some rest. As she skipped home, she couldn’t help but wonder what it was like to be a pokémon and battle against others.

Maya names the deerling Almond!
