Who did I used to be? What sort of question is that? What use is there in dwelling on the past?
If you must know, I suppose I can tell you... but I warn you, listening isn't a good use of your time.

I used to be a child, bounding around with the seemingly endless energy that near all children possess. I had the most vivid imagination- I suppose most of us desert-borns do. I didn't know the meaning of boredom: there's a whole world out there, but even just my desert portion was too big and amazing to fully explore. Just think, all the treasure troves and knowledge that must be here... ah, but I'm digressing. I suppose you'd like to know what parts of me have changed as well though.
The biggest change... I used to be ignorant of time. When you're young, it seems endless for yourself and all you know... of course, we learn it isn't so as we grow, but my knowledge of time came a bit differently.
See, I stumbled upon a gem as I explored, one I most certainly didn't understand. I foolishly grabbed it, and it bound itself to me, giving me the knowledge of time and the ability to see it.
I see a being's time left before they lose their life.. helps me keep detatched.
But I was exactly who I am now. Slightly detached, curious, imaginative, and looking for adventure.

And the bandages? Well, who in their right mind walks the desert unprotected? It's also quite amusing watching others startle at the sight.

Now, hurry along. I told you this wasn't a good use of your time, though I suppose you won't live to regret it. Go now, and don't dally, for I'm afraid you haven't much time left.

«I used to be living like you once. The truth is, and I’ll be perfectly clear with you – I brought this upon myself. I should’ve known messing with Voodoo dolls was a mistake, even if my intentions were good.

They called me a Voodoo queen. My bookstore was far from just a bookstore, but a place to obtain voodoo dolls, amulets, gris-gris bags and potions. Of course I had to lay low under the pretence that I was merely a simple bookstore clerk – the authorities would’ve had me driven out of the city, possibly even killed had they known what I was doing. Those blasted newspapers putting Voodoo practitioners in a bad light…
I usually only sold powerful charms and amulets with the intent to do good – healing, protection, guidance, retaining connection with a loved one. However, I won’t lie – I’ve sold my fair share of voodoo dolls and potent potions in the past. In my line of work you’re bound to make some enemies if your goods were traced back to you – one voodoo doll in the wrong hands and you’ve not only endangered someone else, but yourself if you let your guard down.

That was my first mistake.

I was naive. A doll - another person’s quality of life - fell into the hands of a person with cruel intentions. I got sloppy.

That was my second mistake.

They traced it back to me – the doll’s link and its acquaintances traced my work and tracked me down. They demanded I made another doll to get revenge on the person who tormented them.

That was my last mistake.

I am trapped on a plane between the mortal world and the afterlife, an immortal soul doomed to eternity of pain – why me?

The new doll. They linked it to me.”
