I opened my eyes slowly afraid to adjust to what was around me, only to see nothing. There was only darkness and not a shard of light anywhere. My head throbbed and i gently rubbed my right temple squinting as i turned in circles to be met with the same thing. darkness. i could feel the air stir as i exhaled sharply, the darkness responding to my breath with a hiss. Suddenly i knew something was there, and i could feel the darkness like shards of ice sticking to my body begin to thaw. As if i was a plant who had gone dormant during the icy months of winter. turning there was a flicker, there was a spark. A brilliant blue glow that at first, i was hesitant to approach. It drew me however and i complied approaching with an outstretched paw eager to rid myself of the dull frosty ache the darkness around me had somehow thrummed into my soul.
As i neared the brilliant glow it flashed brighter than before and the darkness receded astoundingly fast. I stumbled back startled by the outpouring, the cerulean light hovered for a moment before flashing once again, duller now and i heard a voice. Merely a whisper at first before it's lulling song faltered and my trance snapped. Frightened i pulled away from the flashing orb of light, now however it remained still. Then the voice returned, it was bright and clear it's tone soft yet firm. As if it meant business but not to startle me. young one.. the voice said, hissing and sizzling as if i was speaking to the sun itself. I could not speak, it felt as if a toad was tangled in my vocal cords. I am known as Mahova.. it whispered as slowly the tranquil form of a glowing viscet emerged it's wispy limbs floating with the currents, eyes still the bright cerulean blue it outstretched it's pale paw to me, which i hesitantly took. Flooded with light i let out a gasp and suddenly things felt different.
The ground around me felt light, as if i was standing on nothing. A dull, almost tingling ache echoed throughout my body and i blinked looking up at the now smiling ghost who was studying my motions intently. where do you think you are young one? it asked pulling itself forward closer to me, it's wispy tendrils flowing with the current. "i- i dunno uh, in my head? have i gotten knocked out?" i asked pressing my paws to my temples and attempting to remember how i got here with this ghost?? mahova it said? the being chuckled it's cerulean eyes glowing brighter with each breath. no, no young one. Your in the elemental plain, no one but me can see you here. I am mahova, the goddess of the sea. the being spoke with certainty as if he would know exactly who she was. but nash was clueless. "uh- who?" the being smiled and spoke once again.
mahova. your kind know not of the ancient deities, but we exist same as you. i was dumbfounded and silently racked my brain hoping for some clue as to where i was and who this mahova thing was in front of me. Coming to the conclusion that i was wasting time i watched as the being circled be curiously. you are not my kind, nor are you a species of the ocean.. are you of the land above? it asked it's orbs flashing. "i-i come from the underwater colony. i've been down here for years." i spoke hesitantly, in truth despite my age i felt like i was ten being scolded by my mother for eating a cookie without asking or not washing my paws before dinner. It rumbled softly mimicking what might be mistaken as an mm. It swirled for a moment before exhaling seemingly decided on what it would do. You, have been selected. my previous soul reaper's being has faded. rendering me without company or someone to rescue the tormented, drowned or lost souls of the sea. you will become my new soul reaper. this is an offer you cannot refuse.
jaw agape i felt stunned, what was this thing saying? that i had to stay here? "no-no i have to get back-" i was cut off by the beings now increasingly agitated voice. There is no back. only forward. you are my soul reaper now, the sooner you accept it. the better. now, to get you settled. I've wasted enough time as it is. there is a job to be done. what may i call you? it rushed his cerulean orbs narrowed slightly. "nash." i said, confusion fluttering in my brain, but it was clear the time for questions was over and so i followed the being as it led me off, confused and scared and feeling like a ten year old bumbling kid.
