Pantaleon Brown (and Zacharius)
Rank: Scout
Looks: ST-C5 / HC-23 / HS-S / EC-H7 / X
Race: Hobbit
Personality: Sometimes described as childish, Pantaleon Brown is
not the person you would trust with an important job. Yet- When he
wants to, Panto (as he likes to be called) can be quite serious.
Except he rarely wants to. He's a kind, jolly fellow, likes to eat and
loves a comfortable sofa. It sometimes feels like he could chatter
on for days, and that annoys others.
History before Cyrrane: For as long as he can remember, Pantaleon
was alone- alone with only his squirrel. Truly, his past, his parents,
how he grew up- All of this is a mystery. But what he doesn't know,
I do. And I'll say it.
Pantaleon Brown was born in a family of happy hobbits. They lived
in a small hobbit-hole far from others. Alone. Pantaleon was the
only child, and was cherished by both his parents. But at some point,
when Pantaleon was about eight, his mother expected a new child. A
baby girl. When she was born, it was a time of great joy in the family.
What they did not know was that soon, great misery would fall upon
them.
Pantaleon, one day while playing outside with his pet squirrel,
Zacharius, heard a man's voice crying out for help. Having been taught
to be a kind and helpful boy, Pantaleon went instantly to see who it was
and do see if he could help. He found an old wizard, injured, lying in
the bushes. Hobbits know the earth very well, and Pantaleon quickly
found the right herbs to help the old man. Then, he helped him walk to
his home, where he knee he could rest and get better. His parents, as
good and kind as him, helped the wizard without asking questions. Yet,
what a mistake it turned out to be...
A few days later, there was great stirring in the forest. Creatures
were roaming and causing havoc. When he heard of it, the old wizard
had paled. He murmured. "pray they do not find this house... For your
sake." but sadly, the creatures found them. They had been hunting the
wizard a long time, and were angry at having wasted that long.
Pantaleon and his sister, Makilla, who was only a few months old and
in Pantaleon's arms, were huddled in a corner while the great oak door
shuddered under the creatures pounding. The battle that happened
afterwards was bloody and terrible. Both Pantaleon's parents were
killed, in front of their eyes. Before dying, they both begged the
wizard to save their children. The old wizard had regained his
strength, and fought hard. But he wasn't sure he could win.
So he grabbed the children and fled, as fast and as far as he could.
When he stopped, he did two things. He gave Pantaleon's squirrel
companion a power. The squirrel would stay alive as long as
Pantaleon, and would stay with him forever. To Mikalla he gave a
little necklace, with a stone that would keep sickness and infections
away from the wearer. The last thing he did was at the same time
terrible but kind. He wiped from Pantaleon's memory all about his
family, his past. As far as the boy knew, his life was starting now.
Then, the wizard left to fight the creatures.
Now, I must remind you Pantaleon was only 8 at the time. With no
gruesome memories in his mind, all he wanted to do was explore a
little this new place. Leaving his sister to sleep, he ran off, playing,
with Zacharius. Sadly, eight year old boys are not the best explorers.
He promptly got lost, and since there was no one to call him back...
Pantaleon thus started his life at the age of eight, after running off
to explore. Somehow, he survived alone and now knows everything
there is to know about the forest. He grew up and one day, found a
pretty young lady of his age named Myriam. Feeling lonely, he
joined her.
And the sister, you ask? The wizard miraculously survived his fight.
He came back for the children, but there was only the little girl. He
searched far and wide for the boy, but Pantaleon had vanished into
thin air. The wizard then proceeded to bring up the Mikalla himself.
