Dinzi's being used: Qeizei
Prompt answer: Qeizei muttered to himself quietly as he approached the half sunken, abandoned shack he had had mostly undug the entrance to. Unfortunately, earlier, he had counted his chickens before they could ever even had a single thought of seeing daylight. Basically, he had been caught stealing. Some bag someone had left unattended or something. He didn't really remember nor did he really care right now. He wouldn’t be let in anywhere. That's the problem with small, close knit towns. Too trusting of each other, not enough of random strangers loaded with valuables. Luckily, he had managed to dump his winnings here and sell most of it, the rest, tossed off some random cliff. Whoever found it, unlucky them. They’d probably be blamed for the whole thing if they tried to show it off. Coins? Stashed with a trustworthy friend. Qeizei was filthy rich, and could probably buy a house if he wanted. Too close to his previous robbery, though. Had to lay low. So, creepy, more-rot-than-house it was, instead. If anything, at least he managed to snatch a couple coins off the ground in the resulting chaos (years of experience made this more of a instinct than a conscious thought he had to think about, which saved just enough precious brain power he needed to calculate his escape) and one or two scraps of wilted lettuce he had grabbed after almost running straight into the corresponding cart. Useless. Oh, and he had found a necklace that had been nailed to the wall of his current location. Three gems, chain was made out of iron casing, or would people appreciate doing the whole experience themselves? Decisions, decisions. He’d figure it all out in the morning.. It was pretty swampy here, he had just enough leftover energy and was certainly fast enough, maybe he could catch some frogs for breakfast.. Curling up on a pile of musty fabrics he had scavenged from various corners of the tiny house, he drops the necklace next to him and drifts off into a fitful sleep..
Before promptly waking up in complete darkness. No, not complete. The purple jewel in the necklace was glowing slightly. Whatever it was, he could barely see anything either way. He felt sluggish, as if his body was made out of clay, or mud, or stone...He couldn’t move his limbs. He heard wind, stronger than before.. but other than that, he seemed to be alone. Wait. There.. He could hear something moving.. Metal? Maybe chains of some sort. Rattling. Really loudly, now, too. Is.. is it getting closer? He tenses up, tries to get up to fight, to run, to do something, but his body won’t obey him. He’s panicking, he knows, breathing is starting to get more difficult. Whatever is with him, it stops nearby. It's breathing heavily, like he is unable to do. While the rattling has mostly stopped, occasionally the creature shifts, and the metal clanks loudly together. Neither of them move. It feels like hours have passed. Qeizei is unable to get back to sleep, doesn’t want to, knowing something is with him. The being suddenly starts to move again, wheezing. Qeizei wonders if this is how he dies- Metal links quietly jostle each other, and the being stops again, this time right over him. Long hair droops down to tickle his neck as the creature leans over to grab the necklace. The gems pulse brightly as the being touches it. It's head follows, to examines the necklace. It looks like it's about to leave, but as it starts to move away, it's head turns slightly and catches Qeizei’s eye. It.. looks like a dinzi, of some sort. If one’s face was horrible scarred and had mutations no dinzi had ever heard of before. It has sharp teeth. Qeizei knows, because it smiles brightly, almost as if greeting a friend. It's face twists horrifically as it does so, though, and Qeizei wants nothing more in the world than for it to stop looking at him. Some sort of sinister aura erupts in waves from.. This creature, because Qeizei had been mistaken when he tried to compare it to a dinzi. The worst being his mind could recall, would be like a fluffy, innocent bunny in this creature’s presence. The thing pauses, staring him in the eye for a long while, blinking slowly. Finally, it shakes it’s mane out and lets out a hacking cough, maybe a laugh if he listened carefully enough, stepping away and dropping the necklace with a muffled clang behind Qeizei. The doom exuding from it’s body slowly recedes from Qeizei, and it’s chains clink along the ground as it starts walking away.
“You’re ok, kid. Most people scream and run without listening, and ya should know, it’s real rude to go into someone’s home and not at least meet to the one owning it,” the being stops. Qeizei feels distress building up every second it doesn’t talk. What is it planning? The being starts speaking again, softer. “You’re acting awfully nice n’ quiet. I guess I’ll let you off the hook this time. But, hey, as a warning, it isn't nice to try and take other people’s belongings without permission. If we were friends, maybe. Hmm.. actually, wanna stay? I got plenty of other pals who would love to meet ya.” Qeizei would never touch a gold coin again if it meant this thing would leave from his life indefinitely.
“No? Shame, shame.. Hmm.. well, but ya know what? I’ll let ya keep this old thing,” The being kicks at the necklace. “I can make a new one in a jiffy, and I’d love someone with your listening abilities. If ya ever wanna join me early, give two taps to the purple jewel in the necklace. I'll find my way to ya, if ya mind ever changes. Though, well, given enough time, i'm sure you’ll be happy to. It's not like anyone has a choice in the end.” The thing laughs again, and the sound of metal rattling fills the room, even as Qeizei feels himself drifting back into troubled sleep.
Qeizei jolts awake, and immediately jumps up to his feet. The fact his body reacts to his thoughts sends a wave of relief crashing through him, and he collapses back to the ground, breathing deeply. A nightmare. It was all a dream. He needed to get food and water in him before they got worse. If they could, that was. Qeizei stretches out happily, but freezes as he feels cold metal press against his back. Quickly spinning to face the doorway, he looks downward in disbelief. The necklace lays crumpled on the floor, gems gleaming ominously in the dawn’s light. His blood goes cold as he recalls the dream possibly being reality. Glancing back at the necklace uneasily, he picks it up. While he doesn’t like the prospects of carrying this around, it seems almost wrong to even consider discarding or selling it.. He puts it on- he doesn't have anywhere else to stash it without leaving it unattended, and turns to regard the rest of his current belongings. Not much, besides the feeling of overly suffocating comfort the tiny shack seemed to have developed overnight. It made him more nervous than it did calm him, and he quickly darted through the doorway. He planned to go frog hunting anyway. The necklace glowed darkly for a second, before returning to normal, clinking softly against Qeizei’s neck.
