Coldwater Creek is set up in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies. While a bit difficult to get to by vehicle without 4-wheel drive, once you reach the plateaued land above the valley, the silence and the views are deafening.
The grass is lush and the deepest shade of green, wildlife flourishes here, Elk herds and mule deer are spotted often in the background. Sometimes the occasional, elusive moose shows itself. Not many people live up here, Coldwater Creek and just 5 other neighbors share this edge of wilderness. The families that live here are a tight-knit community, helping eachother out through rough weather, calving season, and any other problems they might face.
Coldwater Creek itself started out as a 300 acre beef cattle ranch, but had now grown to just over 800 acres and has added sheep and goats to its livestock, as well as doubled its stables to account for the growing horse population it holds. Horses are a necessity up here, as getting around by vehicle is difficult without any roads, besides the main one up the mountian side.
Coldwater Creek also acts as the main outpost for tourists and researchers looking for the wild herds that populate the foothills and valleys of the Rockies. Coldwater Creek also checks in on the wild horses and keeps the herd fed in the harsh of winter.
