Many support the Awareness System by fighting for the cures to many of these and even paying for some to receive treatment. These pictured below are just a few of many ribbons

What this club stands for:
I aim to bring awareness and educate others, as well as be a shoulder to cry on or someone to speak to. This club stands to bring awareness to all forms of cancer and illness that the ribbons represent. I know the pain of losing a loved one all to well and I would like to help others to deal with it and cope with the loss. Maybe even share stories of survival of a loved ones, fighting and beating cancer. We are also here to explain various types that are not well known by the world and by giving information, we can help others to get the steps to prevent them
My Story and What the White Ribbon means to me:
When I was about 15-17 years old, I received news that changed my life forever. One of my father figures Mickey(Michael) had Stage 4 Lung cancer and it was too late for treatment. Like many, I was hurt and devastated and thought, how was I going to survive and be strong? The answer was simple. To be strong meant I had to grow up and realize that this was part of life. I did everything I could for him and his girlfriend. I never showed the anger and hurt I held back inside around anyone.
October 19, 2011 - we went back to the doctor and the doctor said that he would never live to see the April flowers. I didn't know what to say. All the was going through my mind was, why? Why must he die? Was it my fault? I was angry, not at the world, but at my self because there was nothing that I could do.
April 5th, 2012 - he was rushed to the hospital late in the evening. Me and my grandparents were not prepared for any of this. He was given 7 days to live. My grandfather was going to lose his best friend of 30 years, and I was going to lose the man that I saw as a father.
April 9th, 2012 - The day I will hate forever. About 10:37pm, his girlfriend called us, upset and crying. We expected the worst. She received the call not 10 minutes after my grandfather returned home from his nightly visit at the hospital with Mickey that Mickey had passed away. The first time in quite some time, I broke, my heart torn in 2. I cried that night until I fell asleep.
Now, I am a proud mother of 2 and wife, with a lovely career of working for my local PD. Doing everything I can to raise Awareness, on the clock and off the clock.
