So this is life -Poetry of sorts

So This Is Life is an ongoing collection of all the poetry I have ever written. There is no particular order to my posting of poetry, with the oldest poem being from around 2013. If this is not what you're looking for, feel free to ignore this, and I hope you find it elsewhere! Please do pm me critique or just your thoughts; I'd love to hear them! However, please don't leave hurtful comments or post in this thread as I would rather keep this for just poetry. I have also used a lot of little pictures and gifs in this thread, and have tried to credit all of them- if you click on them, they'll take you to the original artist or page they're from! Happy reading and thank you!

So this is life -Moonlight Whispers

Postby KCADO » Sun Feb 12, 2017 11:21 pm

    Moonlight Whispers

    The silver light
    that comes in the night
    from my window,
    from the moon

    It cuts through the dark
like a wave, like a shark,
    and whispers me that soon,

    Soon you'll be there
    with your warm soft hair
    and your gentle, golden smile

    and then we'll sit
    in the darkness, starlit
    and dream a little while

    of forests, slowly creaking
till it seems though they are speaking
to me, to you, and to your smile

So this is life -Raindrops

Postby KCADO » Sun Feb 12, 2017 11:25 pm

    Raindrops

    Sometimes I like it when
    the rain beats down outside;
    when the constant onslaught of
    the ground sounds soft
    and soothing, and it
    all just blurs into one
    big soporific drumroll.

    Sometimes I hate it when
    the rain beats down outside;
    when the soft, constant drumroll
    is erratic and startling
    interspersed with all of the
    unevenness of life,
    like

the birds on the rooftops taking
    flight, a
    sudden raucous explosion
    of wing beats,
    or the droplets of cloud
    that get caught on the
    windowsill above mine
    and drip down with
    no real pattern,
    just noise.

So this is life -Golden

Postby KCADO » Sun Feb 12, 2017 11:30 pm

    Golden

    You are golden
    Everywhere I think of you

    I remember you
Curled into a ball of happy exhaustion
    By my side
    You were golden then
    It shone slowly out
    Like a nightlight

    I remember you
Laughing like you would never laugh again
And then your laughter was golden
    It filled the room
    And my heart
    With light

    I remember you
    Wrapped in my scarf
    And my arms
Then you were trying to hide your light
    But still it shone out
Reflecting golden on the faces of the people around us

    I remember you
Sitting with me on the cold stone steps
    You lent me your light
    To warm us both
    And that was golden too

    I think of you now
And everywhere I think of you
    You are golden

So this is life -Colours and emotions

Postby KCADO » Mon Feb 13, 2017 4:12 am

    Colours and emotions

We're a colourwheel of emotion, you and I.
You say you like purple, and I know I like you.
I like black and red, the colours of my life's worth, the colours of my heart that beats every
    Desperate Drowning Beat for you.
You like silver and I like gold, and we're opposites yet complimentary.
    I think
But my thoughts are not important, not when you're here in my arms and you're all I can see and all I can breathe,
Because I would beg to drown if it would mean that I could watch my dying breaths rise with you.

Re: So this is life -Sleeping

Postby KCADO » Tue Feb 14, 2017 5:09 am

Sleeping

The car has stopped
And as you burn a hole into my shoulder;
Perhaps you are sleeping,
Perhaps you are not;
I sit
And write
And try not to dream.
I think that perhaps this should mean
Something,
But
I also think that perhaps
It should not.
I want to stay like this.
Does that mean something too?
I think and as I think I realise that you can see right
Through me;
You can see who I am, better than I can see myself, and
You feel like safety to me;
A bubble of not-quite silence.
The fiery outside sounds can't permeate it.
And in the end,
Is that really such a
Bad thing?

So this is life -Supernova

Postby KCADO » Sat Feb 18, 2017 11:04 pm

    Supernova

They're telling me to get back on my feet
    but I don't know where
    the ground is
    anymore
    I was drifting quietly
    until he crashed into me
    on his way down
    and now I'm falling
at a hundred miles an hour
    I'm freezing on the inside
    and burning on my skin
and all of me is starting
    to give in
As I burn through the atmosphere
    I can only hope
    that when I'm done
    crashing and burning
you'll be there to pick up
all the tiny pieces of me
    and keep them safely
    until the time comes
    for you
    to join me
    and then I'll be there
    to welcome you home
    with open arms
    and a softly glowing smile
    and I'll say
    'hello, my supernova'

So this is life -I Read Your Note

Postby KCADO » Mon May 29, 2017 4:02 am

    I read your note

    I read your note
Sitting in the rapidly enclosing space of my mind
The train tracks racing around my head
Took me directly to the darkest station
    The worst possible conclusion
So I sat for a moment
Then I read your note again
I noticed the heart sketched at the bottom
    And the postscript;
    'smell the ink'
    So I did
    And the trains slowed down,
    Running out of steam
And relaxing to a gentle buzzing murmur
    And I could breathe again
And I read the whole thing through for a third time
Running my fingers over the letters,
    Tracing your thoughts
    As they left my head
    So thank you
    For being there
For helping my racing train track thoughts
    To slow down
    And curl up
    Into cotton wool
    And kittens

Re: So this is life -Hear me Shatter

Postby KCADO » Mon May 29, 2017 5:07 am

    Hear me Shatter

    As you marked me
    for the first time
    I laughed
    and blushed
    and covered you in
    markings
    of your own
    But the marks
    are fading
    faster each time
    and my
    lungs
    are learning not to
    gasp
    And very soon
    I think
    that to even
    {Hear Me}
    at all
    you're going to have to
    {Shatter}
    me into
    a million
    fiberglass
    shards

So this is life -Oases and Whirlpools

Postby KCADO » Thu Apr 09, 2020 12:46 am

    Oases and Whirlpools

    I've been standing out
    here in the desert
    for too long
    And the oases
    in my eyes
    have all dried up
    and clotted
There is no water left to give
    I try
    And I try
    to find a reason
but the water is long gone
    and it's not coming back
    for me
    So I think
    I'll sink
    into the sand
    and try
    and try
    to cry
    And my weary heart
    will thump its way
    Slowly
    Lower
    And lower
    Through my hands
    and into the bottom
    of this desert whirlpool
