Fawnstar trudged through Riverclan's territory. She had not wanted to exile Antleaf, quite the contrary, but it wasn't within her rights to overrule a clan vote, so she had let it happen. She had let him and Fallowstep leave. This had changed her plan to travel to the moonstone with the medicine cat, but she still had to go, it was necessary for the new leader to receive her name and nine lives as soon as possible after the death of the old leader. During her ceremony in Starclan, Fawnstar had been granted lives from many friends who'd since passed on. One of whom was Frostystar, though since the former leader had caused her own death, she could not say who the traitor who'd killed her son was. This was a disappointment, yet sadly not surprising news to Fawnstar. As she approached Riverclan's camp, she reflected could not help but reflect on the past few days. Had it been two? Three? Surely no more than four, and yet Fawnstar felt seasons older, leader yes, but over four cats, what sort of rule it that?
Right now, Fawnstar sat by herself. She had been sitting here for a while, when Fawnstar got back, she had discovered Rainfeather was dead and that's when she made the drastic decision to give Whitepaw her warrior name and pronounce her deputy. Fawnstar had done so more out of tradition than the need. It was just her and children now. Three young she-cats, one of whom had killed her own clanmates. Fawnstar had never been good with children, but she had to try, because she was all they had left. That was why she stayed, watched and sat virgal, her fur was crusted with dried tears, though she had no more to shed anymore. She would stay, yes she would stay until her dieing day, whether it be today at the paws of a child, or at an unforeseeable time seasons from now. Fawnstar had made a vow to protect Riverclan.
