Ella suddenly heard footsteps coming down the stares and gave him one last kiss. Then, pushed him out of the cell. "Lock it, then act like you hate me." She said, dropping to her knees and staring at the ground like nothing had happened.

Milo nodded, then quickly locked the cell. "When I rattle the bars," he whispered, "Yell." He slammed the bars with his fist, shouting, "That'll teach you to speak out of turn, prisoner!" he roared, not looking at the guard who had come back from breakfast.

Ella yelled some naughty pirate words at him, then jumped back. She glared at him, then scooted against the wall.

Milo wanted to laugh at the words, but didn't dare. He saluted the guard who had just come down the stairs and said, "Sir, the prisoner is being disobedient but not violent. I was told to guard her cell for the rest of the time she is our captive, Sir." The man nodded, obviously confused, but he wasn't about to disobey the "Captain's orders". He saluted and said, "Good man. Keep an eye on her." He turned around and went back up the stairs.

Ella smiled. She went back to the bars. "Is there any real food?" She asked, her stomach grumbling on cue. She suddenly felt a lurch and puked all over the floor. "Stupid gruel." She muttered. She knew the rest of the Navy were eating like kings.

Milo grimaced at the puke, looked around, then found a mop and went into the cell to clean. This would give him an excuse to talk quietly to Ella as well. "Actually," he admitted, "The only person who eats well on this ship is the Captain. The rest of us eat what you just ate, plus the occasional lime or orange to keep scurvy away. Besides-" here he grinned- "Even if there was good food, you wouldn't want me to blow myself up trying to cook would you?"
