"Umbre, what do you feel...?"
I came up with this little quote on a whim, creating a small backstory for this cute rat, and that little yellow orb...
Umbre is light-kissed, or light-touched, for a less intimate term, hence the yellow markings on her face. Her orb following her and teaching her is a mistake in his society. Because of his circumstance, he was cursed with a small size, and having to watch over a rat, instead of a human, like the other, usual, orbs. His name, is Kishaun.
The white marking on Umbre's shoulder means that she is also an outcast, and is the marking that means "she was born at the wrong time..." Little does she know that her clan was all wrong, and that it actually means that she was born at exactly the right time, the right time to be a hero. Now, Umbre has to find all those other outcasts with the mark, and teach them how they can all work to help the rats and the Touches. There are five other outcasts out there, that are gathered in a small clan. One other outcast is alone and surviving on his own.
There are different colours and shapes of "Touch Orbs", yellow being the highest rank, green second, blue third, purple forth, pink fifth, and red lowest. Orange would be "Negative Touch", or, in other words, evil. An tetrahedron is the highest ranked shape, octahedron second, icosahedron third, dodecahedron forth and sphere lowest. So, basically, the more round the shape gets, the lower it is ranked. A cube would also be a "Negative Touch" orb. So watch out for floating orange cubes! Touch Orbs are living beings with strong extrasensory perception. They do feel pain, especially if you stick your arm through their misty, cloud-like bodies, which, if you do, you will get a strong electric shock from their nerves exploding. They keep a definite shape, and give off shadows, but yet feel like they have no substance, much like a cloud. "Touches" (a nickname) are also born, have genders, and attraction towards other orbs. A mother will have a white, grey or black light glowing from inside of them, the colour really doesn't matter, but the mothers personally like to think a certain colour as lucky, white is the more common one.
Negative Touches will always be an orange cube, and also smaller, like Kishaun. There has never, never, been a different coloured cube, or any other orange shape.
A Touch's purpose in life is to (normally) find a human to "light-kiss" or "light-touch". Light kissing markings usually happen on the face (including forehead), neck, (back of) hands and chest, while light touchings happen on the shoulders, back, arms, (palms of) hands, legs, feet or top of the head. The markings are always glowing and always the same colour as the orb. They fuse within 30 seconds of the touch/kiss, and within that time they can be spread around to create artistic patterns. As they fuse, they get warmer, but not burning hot, unless it is a Negative Touch.
