Yesterday I was holding Pepper, and I tried to get Zuri to hold her, too. I hadn't touched Zuri yet, but when Pepper started climbing down my leg towards the floor, I let go of the door and picked her up. When I put her back on my knee and looked for Zuri... Half her tail was gone. It was bleeding, so I picked her up and ran downstairs, putting Zuri in the "night-time tank" and Getting a paper towel. My mom looked up what it meant and you know... If she would survive. It turns out, that that's what they do in the wild if a predator tries to get them. They let them have the tail instead of them. so, I stopped the bleeding (might I add, after 25 minutes. But gerbils don't bleed a whole lot. That's just how long I was holding it LOL) and then I put her in the tank, (I had moved Pepper to a box) and then I put Pepper in. Zuri was soooooo happy to see her! but I was still worried about my little Zuriton. Her bone was sticking out and there was dry blood around ehr tail. Infection could happen. I had to go to bed. The next day, I woke up like, just five seconds before writing this, had breakfast, and went to check on my gerblits. Turns out, Zuri or Pepper had already bitten off the bone part or it had fallen off and her tail looked.... normal. Except shorter. -_- (and yes, they are supposed to bite it off or it's supposed to fall off) So now, I have a gerbil with a short tail. ^_^
