Leaves fluttered to the ground all around her, and sunlight peeked through the trees, making her long, glossy black curls shine and her eyes glitter. In the distance, a white wolf sat next to a fallen tree. It watched her with interest, eyes never leaving her as she walked around, smiling as she smelled the flowers. Soon, a silver wolf joined the white one, growling quietly. The white wolf, Jae, stood, looking down at the other wolf, Lican. They circled each other, growling. The girl glanced over, unhappy that her friend was being challenged. She slowly walked up to them, a deep frown on her face. "Do not fight. I can be friends with both of you!" she stated, stroking Jae's rough fur. Lican growled louder, revealing his sharp teeth. Suddenly, Jae jumped, claws reaching for her face. The girl screamed as he bit her, scarlet blood spilling onto the grass. She breathed hard, closing her eyes and willing the horrid pain to stop. Black spots crowded her vision and she…

She screamed, curling into a ball on the soft bed. The door was thrown open a few moments later and Jae was shaking her, his hair still tangled from sleep. He said something that she couldn't hear, brushing the hair out of her eyes.

"Hush, Kiernan, it's okay. It was only a dream." He murmured into her ear while he cradled her. She let out a sob, burying her face into his shoulder. "What did you see?" he asked quietly.

Kiernan shook her head, and a tear escaped, falling onto his shirt. "I don't know why it happens…" she murmured, hiccupping.

"What happens?" he asked, concerned.

"I can see people's dreams… It hasn't happened in a few years though, and I thought that maybe it had stopped, and I wouldn't have to see other people's dreams anymore." She sighed, wrapping her arms around herself. He hugged her closer, fingers twisting in her hair.

"When did this first happen?"

"The night after I first got scratched. I was sleeping in my mother's room, and I saw her dreams, but then, I could tell that it was not mine, it was like walking in fog and seeing videos playing in it." Kiernan replied, looking up at Jae to see his reaction, but he simply stared out into the doorway, expressionless.

"How could your abilities have started to manifest so early?" Jae murmured quietly. "Mine did not come for until about a year after my first change…" He rubbed her back thoughtfully.

Kiernan stiffened. "My… abilities?" she suddenly remembered something Keenan had told her. "What are your abilities?" she asked eagerly, then blushed and added "If you want to tell me…"

He looked down at her and smiled. "Why wouldn't I tell you?" he tickled her cheek, and leaned in. "Sometimes, I can see the future, though things don't always happen exactly as I see them." Jae whispered, and then continued "And I can move things with my mind." To prove his point, as he blinked, the bedroom door swiftly closed.

"Wow." She breathed and snuggled into him, suddenly cold. The doorbell rang, making her jump. Jae slid her off his lap opened the door, walking out of sight.

Kiernan peeked around the doorway, listening to the conversation going on downstairs. They were arguing.

"…If you did not, then why can I smell her on you?" said a high voice. Female, her mind concluded.

"Ana, her scent on me has nothing to do with that!" Jae said.

"Fine, say what you will. I wish to meet your new partner." Ana concluded

Jae grumbled and walked upstairs, not surprised to see Kiernan standing there, watching him. She had put her hair up, put a few strands still came out and fell against her face.

"Who's Ana?" she whispered.

"An old friend." He said quickly.

"Just a friend?"

"Yes."

"Why do you lie to me, Jae?" Kiernan whispered, putting her hand on his chest. "I thought you would trust me enough to tell me the truth, but I guess I was wrong." She stepped back, letting her hand fall back to her side.

"I-what?" he had a confused look on his face as he stared at her.

"I know you're lying. I can just feel it." She replied as he swore under his breath.

"Kiernan…" he whispered, appalled. "Okay yes, but that was a while ago. We are allowed to have… friends, relationships even, when the other has not yet revealed themselves." Jae emphasized the word friends, looking at her.

Kiernan studied his eyes, realizing something. "It was your dream, wasn't it?"

Jae turned his head away. "Ana wants to talk to you, you shouldn't keep her waiting."

So I'm right. Kiernan thought, not surprised. He dreamed about killing her? Wonderful. She pushed past him, walking down the stairs and out the door, not even glancing at Ana. She jumped onto her motorcycle and rode away.

Jae followed her down the stairs, but stopped as she walked out the door.

"She spends the night, but then leaves? Devoted mate you have." Ana commented, walking up to him.

"Ana, I think you should leave." He stated, not looking at her.

"But-"

"Ana, you need to leave."

"Jae, please-"

"Must I repeat myself again? You should leave." Jae stated again.

Ana sighed and walked out, leaving Jae all by himself.

Kiernan walked into the forest, wanting to have a distraction. She shifted, looking around. Her mind told her that Lican was also in wolf form, along with some of his pack. She ran to the waterfall, stretching her muscles.

Lican was sitting next to the cliff, watching his pack as they waited. He glanced at her, his eyes glittering with mischief.

You're late. He stated.

I know, I got held back. So who are they? She nodded to the other wolves.

Jasmine, Casey, and Ian. Each wolf nodded as their name was called.

Kiernan glanced at each wolf, not really focusing on them. She could hear random voices in the back of her mind. Little ones, going on and on about nothing. She shook her head and looked down, annoyed.

Lican noticed her movement and stepped forward. Are you alright?

Kiernan simply stared at the dirt, not responding.

He stepped forward again, nudging her shoulder. This pulled her out of the daze, and she looked up at him. Uh… yeah. Just a headache or something… Kiernan replied.

Are you sure?

Yes. I just didn't sleep well last night. Kiernan closed her eyes as Lican sent his pack away so they could be alone.

Are you sure that you are alright? Did Jae get to you? If he did, you really shouldn't listen to his lies.

Kiernan just shook her head again, sitting down. The voices… She could hear too many of them, they were so overwhelming…

Kiernan? Lican nudged her shoulder, harder this time.

Lican, I thought I told you to stay away from her. Jae stated, sounding bored. He stepped though the trees, gray eyes watching them.

I have done nothing, Loup Guru. Perhaps it is you who is troubling her? You can't seem to leave the rest of us alone. Lican barked, his words dripping with hate.

I would leave you alone if you left my mate alone. Jae replied, eyes narrowing. His statement caught Kiernan by surprise and she yelped, taking a tentative step back.

Your mate? Lican rumbled, as if he were laughing. It seems that over the years, you have finally gone crazy. Too long without your other half? He mocked.

No, because she is right beside you. Kiernan glared as Jae as he said these words, angry that he gave up her cover because he was simply a bit mad.

Lican's gaze flickered back to her, watching her reaction. Is this true?

Kiernan hung her head, looking down. Yes, I am the other Loup Guru. She spared a glance at Jae, who looked smug.

How long? Lican asked in horror, not really wanting to know her answer. How long have you been like this?

Nine years. She looked over at Lican, who was fuming.

Lican, I believe that you simply did not know, and Kiernan did not know. Her first change was only a few days ago. Jae added, breaking the uncomfortable silence. His gaze flickered to Kiernan, and he walked forward, nudging her shoulder. Perhaps we should go now.

Kiernan jerked away from his touch, head throbbing. Jae, I don't need you to fight this for me. She shifted into her human form and sat on the cracked dirt, holding her head in her hands. Jae stepped forward, shifting, too. He put his hand on her shoulder, looking into her eyes.

"What's wrong?" he asked quietly, ignoring Lican. Right now, all that was going through this mind was help mate… stop her pain… help mate… stop her pain…

Lican snarled, still in wolf form. He lunged forward, grabbing Kiernan's shoulder. He felt his sharp claws rip into her delicate skin, and scarlet blood spill onto the grass, staining it.

Jae growled, smacking Lican back with his arm. "Do. Not. Touch. Her." He stared at Lican, pushing into the wolf's mind and immobilizing him.

While Jae was doing his manly-man thing, Kiernan sat there on the dirt, staring at her wounds in dismay. There were three claw marks on either side of her shoulder, and each was about 8 inches long. The edges were smooth; it was clearly a clean cut. The dirt underneath her soon became sticky with her blood, and Kiernan's vision started getting dark and splotchy.

Lican stood there, angry that Jae was blocking out his ability to move.

"If you so ever as lay a finger on her ever again, I will permanently immobilize you, mutt." Jae emphasized, the lines on his forehead getting deeper. With a swift wave of his hand, Lican passed out, and he turned back to Kiernan, who was…

…Dead? Oh please, don't let her be dead! Jae thought, running over to her. Luckily, Kiernan's chest was still rising and falling, but she was still bleeding. Carefully, he picked her up and ran back to her home, kicking open the door.

"What are you doing!" Keenan shouted, grabbing his sister from Jae.

"Lican decided that he didn't like that fact that she was a Loup Guru." Jae replied, pushing past Keenan.

Keenan sighed, and rushed upstairs, setting her gently into the empty bathtub. He peeled off her shirt and gasped when he saw the wounds. "I don't suppose you have the ability to heal?" he turned and asked Jae, who simply shook his head. "I thought not." Keenan grabbed a first aid kit from under the sink and quickly cleaned the cuts.

"If you can stop the blood loss, she will heal even more quickly than you would." Jae remarked, sitting on the counter.

He nodded, putting the bandage on her shoulder. "There." Keenan picked his sister back up and walked into her room, setting her on the bed. She snuggled into the blankets, letting out a soft moan.

Jae watched her sleep for a moment, taking in how her eyes would flutter every so often. This girl, she truly was beautiful. She seemed so peaceful, so at ease. He turned back to Keenan, who was in turn, studying him. "Where was she last night?" he asked.

"She fell asleep at my house" Jae answered, turning around to walk out the door.

Absorbed in their bickering, they didn't even notice Kiernan stop breathing.

Another cliffhanger! Also, I really loved it when Jae called Lican a mutt. Almost as good as if Kiernan had slapped Jae…good idea, maybe I'll add that into my next chapter. I have been busy lately, so I didn't really have the time to type much. I promise I'll get the next chapter up sooner. Please R&R!
