Building Your Zoo
When you start, give your zoo a name. When you start your zoo, you start with three species of animals, of your choice. However, these animals are limited to a small list, which will be at the bottom of this post. You'll be able to purchase new animals when you get proper permits. Permits will be talked upon later. You must also choose an entry fee for your zoo, if you choose to. Your zoo can have free entry, but you'll have to find other ways to make money.
Making Money
In every post, you will earn money based on a variety of factors, such as entry fee, attractions, gift shops, and the like. Money is the most important thing to keep your zoo running properly, as you will spend it to get new permits and animals, set up attractions, and many other things.
Animal Food and Medicine
When you start your zoo, you will be given 500 servings of animal food and 200 doses of animal medicine. Baby animals take 10 servings per post, and adult animals take 50 servings per post. You can buy more food at $1 per serving. If you don't have enough food stocked to feed all your animals, some of them may become sick. If an animal becomes sick, you must use medicine to cure it. Baby animals require 5 doses of medicine, while adult animals require 15 doses of medicine. If a sick animal goes three posts without being given medicine, it will die.
Permits for New Animals
When you first start your zoo, you won't have access to a lot of animals. If you want new animals, you'll have to apply for a permit. The application fee is $1000, and the permit will be approved three posts later. However, there are animals where you will need to pay $3000 to apply for a permit. These animals include prehistoric animals, like a Woolly Mammoth, and fairy tale creatures, like a unicorn.
Attractions
Zoos aren't just about seeing the animals; you come to have fun and learn at the same time. In order to attract more customers, you can set up attractions, such as camel rides, feeding certain animals, or a dolphin show. Of course, you'll need the right animals for an attraction to be built.
Breeding/Conservation Programs
In order to help the population of endangered animals, you can contact other zoos to see if they want to set up a breeding and conservation program. Of course, both zoos must agree on the decision mutually. If you choose to set up a program, both zoo owners will pay 50% of the fees, which vary from animal to animal.
Keeping Track of Info
While I will be setting up a document to keep track of everyone's zoos, you are responsible for keeping track as well. There is not default post format, so don't be afraid to get creative as long as you abide by CS rules for things like an image in every post
