i used to feel almost always negative, but lately it has been only few hours a day

> I was having fun on my incomplete Steel Soul file--Steel Soul is basically a permadeath mode, the save file is deleted if you die. But I prefer Steel Soul because I hardly ever die, and one of my favorite NPCs is only available in that mode. So I had just gotten into the White Palace again--one of my favorite areas in the game due to the challenge. It's basically a huge platforming challenge, so it's right up my alley. There's an especially difficult section called the Path of Pain; it's filled with insane platforming, but at the very end, you have to fight two enemies that do twice the amount of damage that most other enemies do. Two of them, at the same time. I've dealt with this encounter three times (on three different save files, one of which was also Steel Soul) and I've never died against them before. But of course, it had to be this time...yes, I did die. I did lose a save file that I had put probably over ten hours into. There were so many things I was looking forward to doing! I was honestly in shock...
Hollow Knight is my favorite game, but wow, is it soul-crushing. I actually felt like crying, and I sort of still do. Of course, I will still start another save file (likely also in Steel Soul because I love that NPC), just..probably not right now.
