imagine if you moved someplace and had to speak something like french, but your original language is engligh. now if the french-speaking people were making fun of your english language, a language you are probably really proud of to speak, it's insulting when someone mocks it, because it feels like, in a way, they're mocking you. He walked off angrily, because he felt like the gopher-guy was making fun of how he speaks.
