copperpaw watched the sunset from where he sat,
alone. on a cliff. he had asked a cat to meet him there, so that they could talk.
he sighed and listened to the calming birds. their wings looked so beautiful in
the night. they would be returning home to their families, unlike this apprentice.

the soft noise of steps distracted him and copperpaw smiled. his friend had finally
come to talk with him. "Hey!" the other cat smiled. "you wanted to talk?" copperpaw
nodded. after about an hour, the other cat said something. "i agree. this murderer
is stressing me out too. protecting a bunch of cats and stuff." copperpaw nodded.
"here, let me help you relieve stress." "okay..." his instincts told him to run but he
trusted his friend, ignoring his gut.

copperpaw turned around and did what his friend said. a few minutes passed.
"is everything-" a push sent the apprentice off of the cliff. the other cat smiled,
sneaking away back into the camp just to wake up and pretend nothing had
happened. nothing at all had happened.

i guess cats don't always land on their paws...

smallfern had gone out to do a bit more hunting for the clan. he was currently crouching down, getting ready to... leap! the calico tom leaped through the bushes, but his imminent triumph turned to terror in a second when he narrowly fell off the edge of a drop-off. shaken, he pulled himself up and started to walk away when he saw a flash of... ginger fur? he turned back around to look down into the gorge and his eyes widened. copperpaw was lying at the bottom, lifeless. smallfern let out a short yowl in surprise and shock.

ooc; let's just have smallfern be traumatized yet again. yeah.
